Dear E-Marketing student,

This assignment is about comparing. You have to compare the websites of two competing companies with each other. It is an individual assignment and each student gets an individual grade.

First part of the assignment is to compare the online presence of two different companies in the same line of business. For instance, compare the websites and everything available online of British Airways and Lufthansa. Find out what they offer to their customers and in what way. Check the navigation within their websites, the user friendliness, the graphics, and so on. But do also check the contents of these websites: do they offer products that are suitable for selling online anyway? Do also check famous e-commerce sites like amazon.com, bookings.com or expedia.com and others and check how they have found solutions for certain problems. Explain what you think is good and wrong and how it could be better and why, based on the theory in your reader and what has been discussed during the E-Marketing classes. In other words, come up with your personal opinion, which is, of course, a well founded opinion. In this personal opinion you also have to come up with directions for improvement.

Part 2

The second part of this assignment is the comparison of the same two companies separately (so, for each one apart) between what these companies have promised in their vision / mission statement and business goals and what they are actually doing ‘in real life’ with their online presence. In other words, is everything what they do and offer online coherent with what they have stated in their official documents about vision, mission statement and goals/objectives.
