...International Market Entry strategy for AmStar-Europe by José Meester February 2008 - September 2008 Graduation committee: Internal supervisors: - P. Bliek (Chairman) - M. Ehrenhard (Member) External supervisor: - P. Binkhorst (Member) Master Thesis AmStar-Europe José Meester Management summary The topic of the thesis is developing an International Market Entry strategy for AmStar-Europe to enter Europe. AmStar-Europe is a new company with no experience abroad and needs an International Market Entry strategy plan to guide the penetration of the European market. The following recommendations are found: • Enter Denmark through direct export and focus on AffaldVarme Århus, Forbrændingsanlægget REFA, Roskilde Forbrænding and I/S vestforbrænding first, because they are open to new technology’s and responded quickly. Focus on persons who make (big) investment decisions, analysed in table 14 and sell the AmS 8** coating through personal selling. • Develop references for potential customers by providing current customers with small samples. These samples provide knowledge about the product and wordof-mouth can distribute this knowledge into the market. • Use trade shows and seminars to build awareness, show references, meet new customers and maintain your relationships with current customers. Frequently visit Denmark to maintain the relationships and to keep informed. AmStarEurope should keep up to date when it comes to environmental...

Influence of Glabalisation to Malaysia

...Introduction This report focuses on Malaysia. Some of the key issues that I would like to highlight in this forum are: the influence of globalization on International Business Trade for Malaysia, the roles of ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (AFTA) policies for ASEAN trade collaboration and competition, the macro environmental factors that international business should focus upon before launching market expansion, the roles of government in supporting international trade such as Foreign Direct Investment, how government should assist their businesses in competing in global arena either by protectionism or subsidizing, why has International Franchising strategy has work and what are the industries that have utilized this strategy for expansion successfully and why international business executive should pay attention to cultural influence in business negotiation process particularly Malaysia. Influence of globalization Globalization is taking significant role in many nations around the world. All products and services are strongly linked to each other. For example, different parts of computer can be manufacture in different location and assemble in China to save cost. Both developed and developing countries such as Malaysia are cautious of its benefits not only socioeconomically but also geopolitically. Realizing this, Malaysia has started to take initiative in globalization approach in the 21st century. For example, the export of Thai rice and sugar to Malaysia, telecommunication...

Desistance

...Criminology & Criminal Justice © 2006 SAGE Publications (London, Thousand Oaks & New Delhi) and the British Society of Criminology. www.sagepublications.com ISSN 1748–8958; Vol: 6(1): 39–62 DOI: 10.1177/1748895806060666 A desistance paradigm for offender management FERGUS McNEILL Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde, UK Abstract In an influential article published in the British Journal of Social Work in 1979, Anthony Bottoms and Bill McWilliams proposed the adoption of a ‘non-treatment paradigm’ for probation practice. Their argument rested on a careful and considered analysis not only of empirical evidence about the ineffectiveness of rehabilitative treatment but also of theoretical, moral and philosophical questions about such interventions. By 1994, emerging evidence about the potential effectiveness of some intervention programmes was sufficient to lead Peter Raynor and Maurice Vanstone to suggest significant revisions to the ‘non-treatment paradigm’. In this article, it is argued that a different but equally relevant form of empirical evidence—that derived from desistance studies—suggests a need to re-evaluate these earlier paradigms for probation practice. This reevaluation is also required by the way that such studies enable us to understand and theorize both desistance itself and the role that penal professionals might play in supporting it. Ultimately, these empirical and theoretical insights drive us back to the complex interfaces between technical and moral...

...NOTE: This PDF document has a handy set of “bookmarks” for it, which are accessible by pressing the Bookmarks tab on the left side of this window. ***************************************************** We are the last. The last generation to be unaugmented. The last generation to be intellectually alone. The last generation to be limited by our bodies. We are the first. The first generation to be augmented. The first generation to be intellectually together. The first generation to be limited only by our imaginations. We stand both before and after, balancing on the razor edge of the Event Horizon of the Singularity. That this sublime juxtapositional tautology has gone unnoticed until now is itself remarkable. We're so exquisitely privileged to be living in this time, to be born right on the precipice of the greatest paradigm shift in human history, the only thing that approaches the importance of that reality is finding like minds that realize the same, and being able to make some connection with them.
