I would take opportunity of doing this assignment to tell my story about negotiation situation with one of my employee for salary. I was the supervisor in a large bank in Vietnam that is interviewing a prospective employee who comes highly recommended and has excellent qualifications. Tung Pham had a bachelors’ degree in banking from the famous college named Foreign Trade in the country and he was working on his MBA. He was close to earning his degree. In addition he had been working for one of our competitors for several years and has excellent references attesting to his ability.
At that time, our payroll budget had recently been reduced significantly as a result of a declining customer base. In addition, the HR Director had established salary ranges for new hires that are to be adhered to, unless the position is urgent need and candidate having special expertise, the ability to bring in additional clients.
The candidate stated that since he had two years of professional banking experience, he really loved this area of work and he was willing to devote himself as the “best practices” of the bank. He would like to receive at least a 10% increase above his current salary of $40,000.
I had to follow the supervisor’s budget and hired that candidate because of the loss of one of our big accounts but we desperately need to fill this position as it is critical for us to continue servicing our existing client base. My boss stayed within that range of budget of $35,000 including benefits (20% of the total compensation of 35,000).
To convince the candidate, I highlighted the fact that our bank is a very good environment with solid reputation and is known for providing excellent developmental opportunities for employees. Especially, after two years with experience he would have...

Later 3G releases, often denoted 3.5G and 3.75G, also provide mobile broadband access of several Mbit/s to smart phones and mobile modems in laptop computers. “3G finds application in wireless voice telephony, mobile Internet access, fixed wireless Internet access, video calls and mobile TV. Perception of College of Arts and Sciences Freshmen Students Towards Math 2 Subject

...Perception of College of Arts and Sciences Freshmen Students Towards Math 2 Subject Introduction Mathematics is an essential subject that is part of the curriculum. Through this, we learn how to count, to solve and to analyze problems involving numbers. The application of Mathematics is in our daily life. Learning Math should not be neglected because it will be our foundation in our future career. Understanding Math in a deeper way is quite difficult, that is why it is not new to us to hear different comments about this subject. It will always depend on how we are going to handle ourselves towards this course. Students are of different traits and personalities while learning. Some students would just go to school to have the feeling of belongingness not even minding the education that they could get. There are also students that are doing great in school and giving the best of them for their parents. As we have notice, almost of the students don’t really have the interest in studying Mathematics. They find it hard, tedious, and boring because it involves lots of equations and functions to solve. It is true, you can never learn Math unless you will have the application on this. It is not just merely counting, solving and analyzing. Math is a broad subject and we cannot learn all this in just 4 years of studying in college. The students should know the significance in learning the basis in Mathematics. To make this interesting we should know the purpose of why we should......

A Computer Implementation of Estimated Variances in Multi-Stage Cluster Sampling Schemes

...ABSTRACT The computation of sample variances arising from multi-stage cluster sampling schemes or designs are complex and time-consuming. This paper presents a computer software written with Java programing language for implementing some of the available formulars for estimated variances in multi-stage techniques. The software has the advantages of accessibility, cheapness, and ease of use in computing estimated variances in both one-stage, two-stage and three-stage sampling schemes. A data set for estimating number of diabetic patients in Niger state for 2005 was used for illustration. We recommend that computation involving these estimated variances be done with the aid of this software. Keywords: Software, Computation, Multi-stage, Estimated Variances, Time, Data and Diabetic Patients. Introduction Multistage sampling is where the researcher divides the population into clusters, samples the clusters, and then resample, repeating the process until the ultimate sampling units are selected at the last of the hierarchical levels (Okafor, 2002). For instance, at the top level, states may be sampled (with sampling proportionate to state population size); then cities may be sampled; then schools; then classes; and finally students (Goldstein, 1995). Multistage sampling according to Adams et al (2003) is generally used when it is costly or impossible to form a list of all the units in the target population. If, after selecting a sample of primary units, a sample of secondary......

Understanding Business Research Terms and Concepts Part 2

...research question is the foundation, then the design processes utilized are the walls used to support the process itself. Descriptive statistics is the analysis of data that helps to describe the data in such a way to give relevance or show patterns, much like a census does. The researcher presents the data in a meaningful way like in statistical or graph form making it simple to understand. A census is an examination of all components that make up a population. If a researcher could study an entire population, he or she could accumulate all data needed for the study, however that is almost always impractical. Having access to census data are priceless, or perhaps a better term is pricey. Inferential statistics allows the researcher to take samples of the population and perform estimations and hypothesis tests along with formulating associations...

Research design 2.1 Quantitative analysis To find out the disparity in traditional media and new media or the characters of new media from the perspective of quantitative analysis have become the direction which most scholars study at present (Lu, 2009:1). Net-news credibility constitutes the primary factor influencing on the efficiency of net-news spread, but accurate quantitative measurement is out of essential importance, especially in China. Generally speaking, it is the respondents that determine the most appropriate method. Every research method has its superiority and inferior position (Babbie, 2004:112). According to Schroder et al. (2003: 205), quantitative analysis is often used to investigate "individual style and identity issues".
