My life is like a torpedo sandwich. This sandwich has multiple facets. The outside is a hard and rigid crust. It is strong, and can confront challenges, including the three hundred degree Panini press! After enduring the press, it becomes crispy, fashionable, and improved. Once you bite into that crispy exterior, the inside is a pleasant surprise. Beneath the crust, the two pillow-like layers house the best foods, like bacon, avocado, cheese, pickle, and cheese, along with healthy foods like lettuce. The bacon and avocado provide quick happiness with its smoky flavor, and creamy texture. When jokes between friends and family fly across the table, bites are cheesy, inciting smiles, and groans. The Sandwich Factory

...The Sandwich Factory analysis The novel is written in 2007 by Jason Kennedy and tells the story of a nameless production line worker, in an industrialized world. The narrator is 1st person, and the story unfolds through the narrator’s point of view. The novel use high style language, the narrator uses a lot of irony, which makes it quite humorous to read at times. For an example “Dot lived in the Midlands, as she would’ve been an excellent pirate, giving blow jobs on the high seas” (L.36-37, p.2). His literal knowledge far exceeds the normal human being with no higher education. “In keeping with my station in society, and having been rejected by the bowling alley, I took a low-paid job at a sandwich factory.”(L.1-2. p.1.) The narrator has taken a job at a sandwich factory, where he is putting together the sandwiches. The narrator has possibly lost his old job, and therefore he seeks a new job. The “Bowling alley” rejected him, when he applied for a job there. Therefore he got a low paid job at the sandwich factory. He thinks highly about himself, and indicates that he holds a high status in society. His thoughts philosophize on many subjects regarding the factory and the people working there. His thoughts intertwining with his literary knowledge, creating strange metaphysical scenarios in this mind. “A whole factory full of workers who would bite your arm off to push a rock up a hill for eternity (so long as you gave us €4.50 an hour and the weekends off). I entertained...

Unit 4 Sandwich Blitz

...creating a new coordinating position between the CEO and the location managers help the business to grow? Creating a new position between CEO (Dalman Smith) and the location managers would help Sandwich Blitz, Inc. grow by freeing up the CEO’s time to focus on the expansion. Currently, Dalman is visiting locations and addressing issues that each shop’s manager has accumulated. If there was an area or regional manager assigned to these existing shops, this manager would be able to address these issues and visit each and of the locations. The regional manager could take over the training for new locations. The CEO and CFO will be able to look for additional expansion opportunities and look into other strategic decisions such as whether patents or franchising make sense to them. 2. Is promoting an existing manager the best option to fill this position? If not, what is an alternative source to fill the position? Though promoting an existing manager would be beneficial due to manager’s familiarly with the company, there are several risks that need to be considered. The habits and preferences, whether good or bad, that the particular shop had may be projected onto all the other shops. You might have the area manager imposing as a rule what should be merely a preference for a particular sandwich shop. Also, the other managers could become jealous and be less inclined to request help or listen to instructions from someone that was recently considered a peer. An alternative is hiring...

Sandwich Marketing

...INTRODUCTION A sandwich is a food item, typically consisting of two or more slices of bread with one or more fillings between them, or one slice of bread with a topping or toppings, commonly called an open sandwich. Sandwiches are a widely popular type of lunch food, typically taken to work or school, or picnics to be eaten as part of a packed lunch. They generally contain a combination of salad vegetables, meat, cheese, and a variety of sauces or savoury spreads. The bread can be used as it is, or it can be coated with any condiments to enhance flavour and texture. They are widely sold in restaurants and cafes. Bread has been eaten with any meat or vegetables since Neolithic times. For example, the ancient Jewish sage Hillel the Elder is said to have placed meat from the Paschal lamb and bitter herbs between two pieces of matzah (or flat, unleavened bread) during Passover. During the Middle Ages, thick slabs of coarse and usually stale bread, called "trenchers", were used as plates. After a meal, the food-soaked trencher was fed to a dog or to beggars, or eaten by the diner. Trenchers were the precursors of open-face sandwiches. The immediate cultural precursor with a direct connection to the English sandwich was to be found in the Netherlands of the 17th century, where the naturalist John Ray observed that in the taverns beef hung from the rafters "which they cut into thin slices and eat with bread and butter laying the slices upon the butter"— explanatory specifications...

Blog Research Paper

...I observed a Subway sandwich restaurant on November 20, 2015 in Citrus Heights between the hours of 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm. I choose this time because it represents the peak hours of operation and would provide me with the best possible data for this blog. The customer will be asked what kind of bread they would like and depending on the order, the bread may be toasted, which would increase the time. After the bread station, the vegetable station would be next, then the meats station, and finally the condiments and final wrapping. The process would finish with the cashier at the far end of the assembly line. As I entered the establishment, there was a small line in front of me with approximately 3-4 people in front of me. The four people ahead of me ordered a total of five sandwiches (one person ordered two) and took a total of 8:25 minutes. This translates to about 5 sandwiches / 8:25 minutes = 101 seconds (about 1:41 minutes per sandwich). I purposefully ordered a simple sandwich off the “number” menu and did not order a custom sandwich. I wanted to see how fast they can make the sandwich as a basis of measurement. As my turn came up, I placed my order and waited for the process to begin. It took me 1:20 minutes to order and pay for my basic sandwich. The problem really starts to arise when there are many people in line and breads that have to be toasted. Toasting bread takes about 45 seconds and adds a great amount time to overall process. All the orders were ordered from word...

Sandwich Blitz

...First of all it sounds like Sandwich Blitz is a unique business. With their offering of foods no other sandwich business has. This would be their main strength to keep the business above other shops that make sandwiches. Moving to a new city could be a strength with good opportunity for growth. This new market could open all kinds of possibilities. People like verity, with the right advertising opening in a new city could get them the exposer they need to become known nationwide. That alone could take there business to the next level. I also see one potential Weakness. In this new city sometimes people are hesitant to try new things. That could hurt them to start off in this new city. There is that possibility it may not take off in that city, just because there products they offer are not the usual in that city. The threats I see for them are the two new franchise operations that offer food and beverages similar to that of Sandwich Blitz. These threats are potentially big and would depend on a lot of things. One biggy is if one or both of these new franchises were to open in the some cities as their current franchise. That would take some business from Sandwich blitz. But if either one would open in the same neighborhood that could potentially put a big impact on their sales. Getting back to opportunity, the new competition could put a fire in their motivation. Dalman and Lei could come up with specials and use their experience in advertising to keep...

Sandwich Blitz Swot

...Overview Sandwich Blitz, Inc. is a successful business, owned by Dalman Smith and Lei Lee who operate eight independent sandwich shops in a metropolitan area. They specialize in serving gourmet organic breakfast and lunch sandwiches and specialties to a diverse group of clients. Recently, Lei discovered a discrepancy on one of the sales associates time-sheet. Further investigation revealed that the team supervisor allowed the employee to report unearned hours in that pay period. Lei also discovered that the employee handbook did not completely cover all of their duties and responsibilities. This left Lei no other choice, but to review and update the existing control system. Four Steps of Control System Although Bateman and Snell identify four steps that managers must take to introduce or improve the existing control system, Rao and Shankar also introduce a preliminary step - key areas to be monitored (p.170). In this particular case, Lei has already identified the type of discrepancy and the possible cause of it. Their employee handbook has not been updated and, thus, was lacking description of their duties and responsibilities as well as various operational procedures. Therefore the main area that Lei must focus on is to bring the handbook up to date. Lei could perform this task herself or delegate it to one of her regional managers. Step 1. Setting performance standards. The employee handbook will serve as a guidance for the employees and as a reference book for the...
