Sarah J. Carrier’s post in the LEARN NC program web page is targeted towards educators seeking teaching strategies for aiding students in learning scientific vocabulary. Carrier was an assistant professor in science education at North Carolina State University, and she taught in the elementary school level for seventeen years before going to North Carolina State University. The structure of this article is simply identifying that traditional vocabulary strategies do not engage students and here are some vocabulary strategies that are based on scientific inquiry. Some of the strategies include “Time to Talk,” “Word Games,” and “Graphic Organizers.” Carrier states that these strategies are intended to provide students with hands-on activities
