Selling bonds reduces the money supply, thus increasing the value of money, but the reserve is not changed if banks buy bonds, says Patricia and Allison, but is not good monetary policy for the Feds to raise the reserve requirement, due to its tendency to increase inflation more than desired. Allison’s suggestion to raise interest rates is useful for selling bonds. Decreasing government spending as suggested by Kathy may lead to a deeper recession. If the government increases their spending as Allison recommends, this will raise aggregate demand, enhance spending power, increase the value of money, drive up interest rates and inflation to normal levels, and create new job opportunities to meet new productivity levels. In other words, for our real GDP to increase, government spending, business investments, consumer spending and net exports must all increase proportionately. Add less taxes as Allison suggested, and it will further increase positive expectations about future economic growth and the value of the net exports, which encourages stronger purchasing power of the business and consumer sectors of the economy to bring in more tax revenue from higher income being generated by the business cycle at full employment, thus pulling the economy out of deep recession over the short run and long run. I recommend that the President Implement strong fiscal and monetary policies to sell more bonds, buy more government securities in the “open market, raise interest rates, increase government spending and lower taxes which will boost the economy out of the great

Debate Topics

...Some people think women should be allowed to join the army, the navy and the air force just like men.  To what extent do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer. Write at least 250 words. model answer: Whether women should be allowed to serve in the military has triggered spirited debate. Some assert that the status quo should be changed and women should be entitled to join the armed forces. Personally, I fundamentally agree with their assertion-for three reasons. History has shown that women are fully capable of performing well in the military. Historically, there were a host of valiant women soldiers whose achievements really put their male counterparts to shame. One need only look at the classic examples of Joan of Arc and Mulan to see how exceptionally women could perform on the battlefield. In my observation, their determination, courage and dignity, to this day, are still being admired by male soldiers and civilians alike throughout the world. Moreover, from an enlightened standpoint, female patriots should be granted the right to go to the front line when their motherland is involved in a war. Admittedly, gender inequality was a highly controversial issue in the twentieth century. However, now twelve years into the new millennium, women can learn and teach, work and supervise, vote and voted in most countries just like men. In light of this sweeping progress in gender equality, there is no sense in denying them the right to defend their home country...

Cultural Immersion Project Pt 2

...Cultural Immersion Project Part 2 – Jamaican Culture 1. What events did you attend? What happened? [about 250 words] The two activities I attended was a Jamaican community cookout so-to-speak called “Negril on the Green” on March 31st and attended a Jamaican church service with a friend on April 7th of 2013. The Jamaican festival “Negril on the Green” was this huge family cookout on five acres of land outdoors. The event occurs every Sunday afternoon from 12 noon until 2 am the next morning. We brought our own lawn chairs, blankets and coolers with cold beverages and some desserts as well. As we walked to find a spot to sit I could smell the heavenly scents of jerk chicken, jerk pork, and fried fish lingering through the air. The music from the bands was lively although I could not understand all of the lyrics but I clapped along away. While conversing with some Jamaican women, I was told how one woman’s friend was (given a licking), beat by her husband for putting (creamy), relaxer in the child’s hair. So, I inquired does this happen a lot in the Jamaican culture and they all responded, “Yes, if you are married to a Rastafarian.” The second event I attended was a Jamaican church service at “Christ Way Baptist Church” located in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. It was quite interesting the service was a blend of Caribbean and a traditional Southern Baptist style. The sermon was not hard to understand until the Pastors started using terminology commonly spoken among the culture...

A classic maple rocker requires 15 board feet of maple, and a modern rocker requires 12 board feet of maple. Write an inequality that limits the possible number of maple rockers of each type that can be made, and graph the inequality in the first quadrant.” Ozark Furniture Company In this paper we will discuss a linear inequality word problem. We will discuss and determine the regions which are safe and unsafe. From there we will know what lies in the safe region and we will produce an understanding of the safe region to solve the linear inequality. The first step is much like any other step; we must attain a understanding of what we are working with. The text states that “Ozark Furniture Company can obtain at most 3,000 board feet of maple lumber for making its classic and modern maple rocking chairs. A maple classic rocker requires 15 board feet of maple, and a maple modern rocker requires 12 board feet of maple. Write an inequality that limits the possible number of maple rockers of each type that can be made, and graph the inequality in the first quadrant.” With the information from the text we can easily make the maple classic rocking chairs as the variable labeled “x” and the maple modern rocking chairs will be labeled as the variable of “y”. Now we must look to...

The sullen murmur of the bees shouldering their way through the long unmown grass, or circling with monotonous insistence round the black-crocketed spires of the early June hollyhocks, seemed to make the stillness 2 of 250 The Picture of Dorian Gray more oppressive, and the dim roar of London was like the bourdon note of a distant organ. Deviance

...Sociology of Crime and Deviance 1 [250 words] Outline three ways in which poverty could cause crime. A) Inequality – Via wealth, opportunity, unemployment, education, race, area (inner cities for example) or class can leave people exposed to the kind of poverty that can then lead on to a breakdown of social and personal morality, thereby diluting the common understanding of crime to such a degree that crime becomes an acceptable necessity in order to improve ones situation. In this way areas of poverty can arguably become crime eco systems, within which crime itself can evolve until it almost redefines itself in a sub cultural context. B) Culture – Certain aspects of criminal behaviour, or deviant behaviour are, rightly or wrongly, most commonly attributed to poverty laden areas of a society. In this way poverty itself becomes, the cause and the advertisement for crime to be an attractive proposition. For instance gang culture, gun, knife and drug cultures, to name a few, are all familiar paths for a criminal career within a cycle of poverty and can all seem both attractive and lucrative based on collective perceptions and shared social identities or the embedded institutional reasoning of an under privileged minority. C) Political cause – With poverty also comes, the identification of the victim. Victims of social injustice, of under privilege, the rank of invisibility and the lack of a voice. These can lead to mass statement making and attention seeking...
