Krayat home of the Mandolarian splinter sect known as the Spartans was colonized just after the Mandolarians lost the war with the Republic. The main Mandolarin forces splintered after their defeat with only a fraction avoiding the Republics retribution. The Spartans had lost their home system to the Republic army. The Spartan Mandolarins gathered as many of their people as possible and punching a hole in the blockading Republic forces escaping into hyperspace. The main bulk of the Spartan Mandolarins stayed behind savaging the Republic fleet and ground forces before being wiped out. This sacrifice prevented the Republic from determining where the escaping refugees had headed. Traveling for two months further and further into the unexplored regions of the outer edge of the galaxy the refugee armada arrived at what would become their new home. Krayat they named the new system after a fierce dragon from their home system. The system contained a red giant star and 14 planets. 6 of the planets were gas giants with 4 to 12 moons each. 2 were to close to the sun to be life sustaining. 4 were beyond the life zone and were froze rocks. That left 2 viable planets in the life zone and each had developed ecosystems with no indigenous intelligent life. The half a million refugees crammed onto the warships and civilian ships began to rebuild. A millennium later the Spartans have changed little in their life philosophy. The war with the Republic has been kept alive through tradition and the vid captures of their original dying and burning world during that time. Few believe that the Republic would still be searching for them after all this time but it is used as a warning of what could happen again. The population has grown to 2 billion people with cities on both of the planets and several of the moons orbiting the gas giants. The moons orbiting the gas giants on the edge of the life zone have been terraformed into marginally habitable worlds. The Spartan society is a space age society and a hyperspace capable society. Only the Mandolarian Spartans are allowed to leave the home system via hyperspace travel. These excursions occur once a year and last up to six months. The purpose is to explore the surrounding space for mineral rich planets and systems to be mined and scout for surrounding races that could endanger the Krayat system. Over the last fifty years there have been encounters with other scout craft believed to be from the Republic. This has prompted the Monarchy on Krayat prime to increase funding to the military starship design, battle armor design, and War/Scout Droid research and development endeavors. The unknown scout vessels displayed more advanced capabilities than the Spartans expected. The Spartans had lost some technological advances when they had to rebuild but most had been rediscover and improved upon but there had not been any need to advance there starship design so they had not. They had concentrated on personnel armor and weapon enhancements due to the few insurrectionist activities in the home system, the scouting and reconnaissance missions and being the traditional role of the Mandolarin Spartans. Using the few captured scout vessels they had acquired they were able to reverse engineer a faster hyperdrive. Upon closer inspection fundamentally only the hyperdrive and normal drive engines were more advanced, most of the other systems were no more advanced than what the Spartans already had and the shields and weapons were less advanced. Interrogating the captured scouts revealed that the Republic had grown significantly larger and was close to discovering their home. It also revealed that the Mandolarins were a forgotten chapter in history and that virtually no Mandolarins were left anywhere in the Republic. Armed with this new information and new hyperspace routes Mandolarin scouts were sent into the Republic with orders to report back all information about the Republic. The Spartans soon discovered that they were by far the most powerful of the systems in this sector of the Republic but only because most of the forces were fighting somewhere else. Their primary shortfall was in starship construction and that was quickly being changed using droid work forces on one of the marginally habitable moons of a Gas Giant. The entire moon was being transformed into a factory manned by droids. The Spartans would not be forced to abandon another home system, so they geared for WAR. For the first time in 500 years the entire Spartan civilization was mobilized with one goal winning at all costs. They would never be forced from their home system again. The military industry only consumed less than 1% of all resources in the system before the emergency declaration. With the declaration military development and spending has surpassed 20% of all capacity and is forecast to reach 50% of spending for the system. Asteroids are being mined for all usable materials and then turned into battle stations at the habitable plants LaGrange points. Each station carries twice the shields and firepower of an Old Republic battle cruiser primarily manned by droids and a contingent of Mandolarians. The Mandolarian caste opened their doors to any Spartan willing to take the warrior test for the first time in generations. The ranks of the Mandolarins swelled from 10 thousand to a quarter million in just five years. The old vids showing the destruction of their homeword were played often as a reminder of the savagery of the Republic. The historical records say that the ability to contact the Chi or inner strength of the Spartans only began to noticeable manifest after the fifth generation of settlers were born. Most Spartans able to use their Chi became Mandolarins and were required and trained in the art. Only about 1 in a million can actively manifest the ability with 1 in 100 thousand being sensitive but unable to actively manifest any abilities. The Spartan Monarchy has made semi arranged marriages for these sensitives, they are only allowed to marry other senstives. Most of the Spartan historians believe the Spartan Chi is a manifestation of the ancient enemies Jedi abilities. From the many ancient captured Jedi light sabers and holocrons the Spartans have been able to piece together enough information to understand what is occurring. The Jedi light sabers technology has been reversed engineered, replicated, and modified into the original and a stun version. All Mandolarins are required to learn the light saber for engaging the enemy at close quarters there is no better weapon even if it requires more training and experience to use. Even if the Mandolarin warriors are unable to perform on the same level with the Jedi in the vids the light sabers the Mandolarins use are still effective weapons in their hands. The Holocrons provided the foundational information that allows a basic understanding and use of the developing Chi powers of the Spartans. Virtually all Spartans that have the ability to tap their Chi become Mandolarins. These unique Mandolarins are grouped into assault teams used as spearheads for all operations. They receive the best armor and weapons along with their Chi training so they can survive this roll. They are expected to be in the vanguard of any and all missions. The Spartans have learned from earlier times when the Chi ability was first manifesting. The only Great War between the Spartans occurred several hundred years ago because a single powerful Mandolarin with great Chi abilities decided all should follow him because only he knew the right path. During the war the fallen Mandolarin was killed along with most of the fallen’s followers. After the end of the war instead of purging the Spartans with the Chi abilities the Monarchy established firm rules and philosophies for them. Those with the ability must be trained in Honor, Loyalty, Integrity, and Justice from an early age, far beyond what is normally instilled in all Spartans. All Spartan citizens are required to undergo testing at ages 5, 10, and 15. If the talent has not become detectable by 15 there is virtually no chance of even the slightest talent blooming. Currently single teams are assigned to each of the outbound scout missions into the republic as security for the vessels, to many scout vessels have not been returning in the last couple of years.

School Lunches In Schools Essay

...With our school district being mostly populated my underprivileged families, it is important to provide nutritious, healthy food twice a day. Our current food industry provider gets paid for every student they service for breakfast and lunch, so it is vital to the company to feed as many of the students as possible. School lunches should be nutritious, and healthier for students. With obesity and diabetes plaguing the community, school lunches need to focus on providing the student with a balance of healthy foods that the student may not normally get at home. According to a website healthyeating.SFGate.com, 23.5 % of high school-ers eat meals from fast food restaurants. And according to the same website, high school aged girls should only consume 1800 calories per day. The administration feels “healthy lunches set children up for success,” and that is what needs to be focused on. By providing a better healthy, nutritious lunch our high school will help students be successful. The school in itself is not to blame for unhealthy eating habits....

School

...For John Taylor Gatto, being educated and being schooled are two things different. Effectively, for him the school goal is to bring children at “the same safe level” meanwhile education could be aquired without the teacher’s help. Then, do we really need school? As John said, our schools look like prisons in which you are forced to work or without working, you will fail over and over. School is then synonymous of success; by going to school you are required to acquire the most knowledge possible for successing in your future life. Are all the people who graduate from secondary school successful? Are all the people who were or are successful such as George Washington, graduated from our secondary school? No unfortunatelly, then what is the real purpose of our schools? Would we change its system by being more flexible with what our teachers are teaching to us because mostly it is not necessarly especially in our future life. In fact, education should remplace schools; I am not saying that school is not important, it is but we should more focus on educating our children rather that forcing them to learn things they would not need things that bore them most of the time. Then, I do agree with Taylor. Nowadays, without a graduation in secondary school, it’s hard to enter into a good university, thereby hard to get a good job later. Our role upon children is to help them develop in what they really like, we have to...

School Violence In Schools

...1. Introduction School is a medium that seeks to promote positive direction to learners. It serves to instil knowledge and skills needed for them to contribute to their communities. However, within this positive image, it has become evident that schools are infiltrated by violence. Burton and Leoschut (2012) see violence as something which does not start in schools; or is initiated by learners only. It has come to attention that violence comes from teachers as well. In an attempt to understand the concept of violence it is essential to define it. World Health Organizations (WHO) (2002:5) defines violence as: The intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, (against oneself), another person, or against a group or community,...

Benefits of School

...'Many young people see going to school as a chore and only go because they absolutely have to, while some will even skip school because they see it as boring and unnecessary. However, going to school is incredibly important for your career, future education you may wish to pursue, and social and communication skills. Teenagers are forever being told that they need a good education so that their can have the career they want, but many do not listen. However, it is important to remember that your schooling, no matter how long it may feel, lasts for a just a few short years compared to the rest of your life ahead of you. Therefore, it is better to sacrifice a little bit of fun now so that you can find happiness in later life, as you will be happier if you can do a job that you enjoy and afford to do the things you want. Integrally linked to your career is the fact that you will only be able to achieve a higher level of education later on if you work hard in school now. Although at the age of fourteen and fifteen many young people may not think they want to go to college or university, you don’t know how this may change as you get older. And with unemployment among young people in the USA at its highest since the early 1960′s, you may find that you need a college degree to secure a good job because there is so much competition for so few jobs. Many people also decide that they want to study further when they get a bit older, perhaps after they have got married and had children,...

School Enviornment

...School Environment Analysis Migdalia Torres-Rosario Grand Canyon University: 575 May 14, 2014 School Environment Analysis There are many problems in schools that impact the instruction that is delivered and how children learn. According to Lecture, 2 (2012, p.2), “Understanding the environmental context of an organization can provide insight into areas that require the leader's attention, evaluation, reorganization, or support.” Therefore, it is vital for the school leadership to be aware of the issues that are occurring at the school to be prepared to impact change. Also, it is important for leaders to create committees of teachers to help address the problems of a school. When teachers participate in solving school problems, they feel investing in the school and are motivated to become leaders. One of the environmental factors that is a problem at my school is the socioeconomic issues that the students, parents, and community face. About 85% of the students at my school receive free lunch. My school is located in a poor urban community, where violence, poverty, and drugs are harsh realities. Most students have one or more family members in jail and often write essays about the police coming to their apartments and domestic abuse. However, there is very little that teachers and administrators could do to assist with this issue. One thing leaders and teachers can do is provide support and education regarding domestic abuse, gang violence, and maintaining...

Many families struggle with poverty so public schools are the only options left for them. Money isn’t the only problem that people are facing, but whether or not the students are learning going to school. Does the different type of schools really determine how much the students learn? What are the pros and cons of public schools, private schools and homeschooling? What type of school is the ‘right’ school? According to the Institute of Education Sciences, folks reported having state funded school decision, more or less 25 percent went to a picked government funded school, while 67 percent went to their allocated school while the other 9 percent went to a non-public school. When it comes to how much the students are learning, is the school really the most important factor? Parents are the ones who mainly makes the decision in what schools are better for their child. Usually, private schools are mainly for religious purpose. They are quite strict, but I have Ngo 2 read articles in the newspaper that they have a better teaching system compared...

School and Me

...went to primary school. I had no friends before I went to school. I didn’t go to kindergarten because my mother, who was a teacher, taught me at home. I learned without any classmates, I played alone and I shared my lunch with my mother only. I felt so lonely before I went to primary school. There was a school next to my home in my hometown. Every day at 5 pm, there were many students running out from school with smiling faces. Parents picked up their children and went home. I wanted to go to school like other children, chatting and playing with friends. However, I had no friends until I was 6. Before I went to school a month, I got a government letter saying I had to go to school because I was 6 which was the age to go to primary school. It made me excited. When I first went to school, I was so excited and scared. I had never met to other same age kids. I had no idea how to communicate with other kids even an opening conversation. When I was dropped off by my mother I was scared and cried. However, I was taken to a classroom by a teacher and I hid behind her. When my classmates saw that I was hiding behind the teacher, they made fun of me for a long time. I thought I would go home with a crying face but a few classmates came and talked to me at break time. They took me around to visit our school. At lunch time, some classmates sat with me and shared their lunch box with me. After school, we went home together even though my home was very close to school. They took me to...

School Weapons

...Miriam Herrera Sean McAuley English 1101 14 July 2015 Should school administrators be allowed to have firearms on school grounds? I think they should be able to have guns on campus. They can be allowed to have them with the proper training and the proper certification to handle a gun. Administrators who carry guns must have and maintain a handgun license; pass a psychological evaluation; and undergo firearms and emergency response training. The administrators can be allowed to have a firearm if they wish to if they wish to go that extra mile to keep their students safe. They will not be forced to have a gun if they do not wish to. With so many school shootings that have happened though out the years, I find that it will help keep the students safe. Having a gun on school campus will not stop the school shooting from happening. It will buy some time for the police to get there and handle the situation. If the teacher need to shoot the gun, with the proper training they will receive they will be able to know where to shoot and how to shoot. In order to have a gun in class the will have to keep it locked up where they only know where it is and they are the only ones to have a key to the lock. Many states are debating whether they should allow the students and school teacher to carry a gun on school campus. Oklahoma singed a bill last year where it is now legal for teachers and staff to carry guns on public school grounds. Texas just recently passed a bill allowing guns at college...

Intervention in Schools

...Interventions targeting parental involvement with the school and computer-assisted learning to enhance dyslexic students’ reading comprehension Education has long been recognised as an indispensable part of life, which serves as a platform to convey general knowledge, and develops critical skills for children to achieve their best potential. Given its value to today’s society, there has since been a leap forward in research to identify why the educational system still remains in a state of hiatus (Rumberger & Lim, 2008). The unfortunate reality of today’s economic climate for example, has been recognised to cause a divide in academic success between socio-economically disadvantaged children, from those with highly-educated affluent families (Noble, Norman & Farah, 2005). While there is some empirical evidence to support the above claims, current researchers such as Dubow et al. (2009) are now developing a more sophisticated understanding that the noteworthy disparities in academic performance, may be better explained by the influence of environmental-contextual factors (e.g. parental education, family interaction and household income). Moreover, since Cassen and Kingdon (2007) suggested that schools’ performance contributed to only 14% of the variation of low attainment, it becomes self-evident to examine the influence of family background, which has continually been suggested to be the central significant predictor of child’s cognitive abilities and their subsequent...
