INTRODUCTION
In my personal opinion, I am neither an overweight, nor an underactive person; thus, I never have been neither of the two since an early age of my childhood. My height is six foot tall, and I have maintained a weight of 145-165 pounds for the past 12 years. Until recently, I was employed as an electric lineman; moreover enabling myself to maintain a high-level of physical activity throughout my adult life. Due to the economy, I am laid off from my current position; hence continuing with a moderate amount of activity. Examples may be; working in the yard daily, and keeping up with my fitness program by running occasionally; in addition of partaking in my favorite sports of baseball and basketball.
I share this aforementioned story of the past, because I believe firmly, because of my body makeup, naturally high metabolism, and physical activity. My eating habits are not consistent with what is recommended with most individuals “normal” intake of one’s daily variety.

Does taking a multivitamin every day raise your intake of a particular vitamin or mineral to near-toxic levels? According to a few readings, it is cautioned to everyone to avoid any excessive intake of a vitamin and mineral over the recommended daily value for each ingredient. So it is always important to take the recommended amount, talk to a doctor if you are taking any other medications to make sure the vitamins and minerals with not negatively impact your other medication, and to read the label and make sure you are not allergic to any of the ingredients, for example, wheat, soy, or dairy. The fat-soluble vitamins are the ones that people should make sure they control their intake for, because they are not excreted through the urine like water-soluble vitamins are. Protein isn't really dangerous but can over consumption may be associated with weight gain, intestinal irritation, dehydration. According to my age and since I'm very active I need 135g of protein per day. Vegetable sources of protein such as beans, nuts whole grains are excellent choices and they offer healthy fiber and also fish and poultry. ... and observed what effects alcohol has on the Marshallese people. I’ve even seen my sister and her friends get drunk. Even though, my sister would get in trouble, for some reason, the next day, she will sneak out and do it again. No matter what our parents would do to punish her, it didn’t matter to her. Alcohol was what mattered to her. I saw how she would act when she’s under the influence of it. She used to have all A’s in school, but when alcohol entered her life, her grades started to drop. I didn’t understand what was going on then, but as I did my research for this essay, I realized that my sister was acting the way she was, all because of alcohol. Same goes with the Marshallese people I see around me. I have a lot of friends, both good and bad. I also work around Marshallese people. And I see the difference in them when alcohol is in their system or if they had alcohol the night before. Throughout the work week, they would be shy, fast at finishing jobs, looks clean, open minded and peaceful, but as soon as I see them on the weekends, drinking and having fun, their shyness goes away. They are talkative, cracking jokes and they walk funny. Come Monday, they look so tired and so lazy, like they didn’t get any sleep at all. I, mostly, see alcoholism in a lot of young Marshallese people, young Marshallese people who has a lot of potential to probably be the next President of the Marshall Islands, who are smart and know what is right from wrong. But when they start...

...Protein Article Research Julie Giuliano SCI/241 December 13, 2012 Angela Pendergast Protein Article Research Proteins are always being produced, broken down and replaced in every part of our body. Proteins are found in body tissue, cells and all organs. You can get your daily protein by eating the following foods: Milk and Dairy products such as cheese Eggs Fish, Meat and Poultry Dry Beans and Peas Seeds and Nuts Grains Some Vegetables Some Fruits There are approximately 20 different types of amino acids that make up different proteins. Our bodies cannot produce essential Amino Acids; those types must be consumed by our diets. A source that contains all of the needed Amino Acids is called Complete Proteins. They can come from fish, meat, poultry, dairy products, milk, eggs and dry beans. For my age group I need to consume 46 grams of protein in my daily diet. By consuming too much protein in your daily diet could mean also consuming too many calories causing you to put on the pounds. Consuming too much protein can also cause health issues such as a higher rate in bone density loss in women which causes osteoporosis, some cancers are believed to be caused by high protein diets and some nutritional deficiency’s are due to high protein diets. For people that have high protein diets and cut all grains from their diets do not get the proper amount of dietary fiber. ...Healthy Eating Plan Comparison Since completing my last assessment of monitoring my food intake I noticed that I have improved in my food intake. I was quite pleased with my results this time around because they showed that I and getting more of the daily recommended amounts of the food groups. Also since the last three day food intake assessment, I have improved in my overall physical activity. It may seem strange but I have noticed an overall change in how I have been feeling. It is true, by eating healthy and staying active keeps you in a great mood. In my last assessment I noticed that I was eating the proper foods in the daily recommended food groups, however I was not getting the proper amount of daily servings. Once I learned this information I knew that I had to do something about it. I thought in my head I am already used to eating the foods, I just need to increase my daily intake. To help me do this, I started tracking the amounts of food that I have been consuming. To further assist me with tracking my food I downloaded a nutritional application to my Blackberry. This program works by me inputting what foods I eat and how many more servings I need to acquire the recommended daily amounts. I like this application because it allows me to enter the data right after I eat. I don’t always have my laptop handy with an internet connection, so this was a great alternative. As with my last three day analysis, I consumed mostly chicken...

Sci 228 Ilab Week 1 Assignment

...iLab week 1 Essay SCI 228 Nutrition, Health, and Wellness iLab Week 1 Essay There are 14 parts of the digestive system. They include the salivary glands, tongue, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, gall bladder, small intestine, large intestine, appendix, rectum, and the anus. Food we eat first enters our mouth, which is where you find the tongue. We know it’s in there because it tastes the food we put in our mouth. You will find the salivary glands in 2 spots, under your tongue and behind your tongue. The best way to remember that it’s located there is to known that it releases saliva and there is always saliva on your tongue. Our pharynx is found in the back of the mouth. To remember it is located there I use the first half of the word which sounds like far, and then use that as a saying. The Pharynx is the start of a far travel. This is down the esophagus. The esophagus starts at the back of your mouth and runs down into your stomach. I remember it’s located there because I feel food go down my esophagus when I touch my neck. Our stomach is located underneath our heart. Most people love food. I use that to remember where our food goes after we swallow, under the heart into the stomach. The pancreas is located behind the stomach. It’s located behind the stomach because it needs to use the blood streams coming out of the heart to add enzymes it made. After the stomach, food will go into the small intestine. The best way to remember that the small...
