Flute Section Leader Application Letter

Mr. Stork and Mr. Allen,

Starting off, thank you for taking the time to read this letter and taking the time to consider my section leader application for the 2018 Competition Band.

I was the section leader for the 2017 Competition Band, and it has taught me a lot and made me a better leader. I have enjoyed the experience and leadership responsibilities that comes with the position of section leader, and am interested to re-apply for the same position again this year. With the success of our last season, I am inspired even more to contribute my previous experiences as both a member and a section leader, to our successes this coming season.

Section leaders are very important in a band, helping making …show more content…
Music has been part of my life for many years now. I began playing the piano in 2nd grade, while later picking up the flute in 4th grade when offered by the school band program. Playing the flute came easy to me, and it quickly showed throughout my various performances. I have participated in All-County Band festivals every year since 6th grade, seating 1st chair every year except for one, which was as a freshman in the Senior All-County Band. Also, I have also performed in All-County Chorus festivals from 6th grade to 8th grade. These two achievements contributed to being awarded the Outstanding Musician award the last year of my middle school career, which was only awarded to two musically talented members of my grade. Additionally, I attended NYSSMA evaluation festivals since 7th grade, performing a level 4 solo in 6th grade, a level 5 solo in 7th grade, and level 6 solos the following years, with my 10th grade year playing for an All-State level audition and scoring a 100. As a result of my high scores, I attended Area All-State Band every year since 7th grade, also seating 1st chair two out of four years. As can be seen, my musical background and achievements help my qualification for section leader.

Being dependable and being committed go hand in hand. Over the last two years, I have demonstrated my commitment to the band program by attending nearly all band practices, and communicating to the directors of any conflicts with practices. I also realize the importance and increased responsibility of a section leader, and like any leadership position I have had, I will carry out my responsibilities to the best of my ability. All in all, my dependability and commitment to the band program help my qualification for section

Improving the Management of Cost and Scope in Software Projects Using Agile Practices

...Federal do Pampa (UNIPAMPA) ejrseidel@hotmail.com ABSTRACT While organizations want to develop software products with reduced cost and flexible scope, stories about the applicability of agile practices to improve project development and performance in the software industry are scarce and focused on specific methodologies such as Scrum and XP. Given these facts, this paper aims to investigate, through practitioners' perceptions of value, which agile practices are being used to improve two performance criteria for software projects—cost and scope. Using a multivariate statistical technique known as Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), the results suggest that the use of agile practices can be represented in factors which describe different applications in software development process to improve cost and scope. Also, we conclude that some agile practices should be used together in order to get better efficiency on cost and scope in four development aspects: improving (a) team abilities, (b) management of requirements, (c) quality of the code developed, and (d) delivery of software on-budget and on-time. KEYWORDS Agile practices, Factor Analysis, software project management, scope, cost, software engineering. 1....
