In the following space, explain the role of plate tectonics in the origin of sedimentary rock. Your explanation must be between 250 and 450 words.

Sediment and sedimentary rocks is one of the best ways that has recorded the history of the weather climates and environment of geological history. Sediment is caught in areas of trenches that are caused by plate tectonics. Clastic sediment, which originates from the rock and mineral debris produced by weathering and erosion, is the most abundant type of sediment. Clastic sediment tends to collect in low-lying areas whose location is strongly affected by plate tectonics. Overtime these particles can accumulate and build up in layers showing different colors or minerals in the area at those moments in time. The lower the line the youngest it is. The Grand Canyon is a good example to see such feature. Sediments accumulate in structural basins along the edges of mountain ranges thrust up by continental collisions. When during the shifting of the plates and sediment or ocean floor is forced to the surface over time, this shows the different types of sediment being accumulated in that area over time.
