Selecting A Topic

As I’m completing my activities throughout the course, I have learned a new skill called "freewriting", which can be utilized to write whatever comes to mind about a subject underneath the prewriting stage. It is a continuous writing session that can last from 5-10 minutes with anything that comes to mind. This skill has changed my writing process in a way to enhance my prewriting strategies with greater ideas. I'm also getting detailed ideas on how to do create a topic outline and a sentence outline. With the detailed ideas through the course of writing I have learned how to use my outline to coordinate with the start and end of my rough draft. For example, adding what is on my outline to the rough draft with more detail and supporting sentences that follow it. I'm also getting better with my revising and editing stage by using my peers second look at an assignment. They are very here to help me make any corrections if necessary. From there, I continue double-checking my grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure making sure my writing flows.

... (1) Defining the research problem- can be easily defined as selecting a topic for research. Defining the problem involves selecting a general topic for research, identifying a research question to be answered, and defining the concepts of interest. Individuals have personal research questions, and social researchers have more general ones. You may wonder, for example, is your child obese? For a sociologist the question may be childhood obesity for a larger group or population. Another broad range example can be of researchers trying to study the state of prisoners and guards in the Stanford Prison experiment. When selecting the topic we must keep in mind that the topic should be narrow enough to study within the context of a particular test but also broad enough to have a more general practical or theoretical merit. Therefore subject matter ranges from the micro level to the macro level. Concepts are refined further into variables. A variable is any quantity that varies from one time to another or one case to another. Variation can be seen in different categories or in different degrees of magnitude. If one variable is thought to cause another one, we call the first variable the independent variable and the second variable the dependent variable, because it is believed to depend on the independent one. (2) Reviewing the Evidence- The next step is to familiarize yourself with existing research on the topic, review the existing literature to determine what is already......

Full Text * TranslateFull text * Headnote Enhance your curriculum by engaging children in active investigations of topics that have personal meaning for them. Projects are ways to help children answer their own questions and learn more about the world. A PROJECT IS an in-depth investigation of a topic worth learning more about. The study is undertaken by a small group of children within a class, by a whole class, or occasionally by an individual child. The key feature of a project is that it is a research effort focused on finding answers to questions about a topic posed by children, the teacher, or both. Rather than simply seeking right answers, the goal of a project is to learn more about a topic. The Place of Project Work The project approach should be seen as complementary to the more informal parts of the early childhood curriculum. Project work is not a separate subject; it provides contexts for applying specific skills learned in other parts of the curriculum. Nor is project work an "add on" to the basics; it is......
