Self-Analysis #2

My overall feeling about my persuasive speech is not a great one. I felt like I could have been more prepared and organized. While I was delivering the speech, it seemed as if I wasn’t holding the audience attention. I must say out of all of the speeches I was more afraid to perform. It could have been because it wasn’t a topic I was really comfortable with.
During the speech I keep it upbeat. I brought in positive energy, while keeping everyone laughing. I projected my voice rather nicely. I used my hands to show emphasis on the subject. If I had to do the speech all over again, I would use notes cards. Doing it at the minute would not have been an option, regardless of what was going on with my personal life. Next time, I will stick with one subject and build from there. In comparison to my other speeches I think this one was the worst. I set goals for myself and I think I only deliver on keeping the energy up.
For this speech I decided to use a cause and effect. To me cause and effect speeches are easier to write because it shows how something you do can cause you something bad to happen or good. You really don’t have to try to persuade too much because the truth is in the pudding so to speak as long as you have creditable sources. I wanted to come across nonchalant but seriously about the subject. The reason I said nonchalant because people would be more receptacle of what I have to say, the subject of cosmetic surgery can be a touchy subject.
Moving forward I plan to work on my ordering structure so that my speech will flow nicely. Researching is another big part that I will take advantage of. Perhaps I will engage in brainstorming, so I would forget anything and it would give me some type of direction to go with. During this class, I think hearing everyone talk gave me pointers on how to deliver and of course what not to do. It also leads me to start thinking outside of the box and not limit myself.
I’m happy I took this class because in my career field I am consistently talking with people, rather it be customers or staff members. This class has given me knowledge on how to prepare my weekly meetings, by showing me how to do an outline and how to transition from one subject to the next. I would say there is always room for improvement. I will have to challenge myself to be more organized and consistence with research, the delivery of my speech and slowing down when I present.
In conclusion, this class has definenaly opened up my eyes to a world that I didn’t know existed. Everything I have learned will be used in my day to day life. When have a speech to deliver I can always refer back to my text book “Civility in Public Discourse” chapter five through eight, have highlighted some key objectives. I now know that even though it may be hard to give a speech, but with the proper technique and ample information you can succeed.

...Self-Analysis Self-Analysis Oklahoma Wesleyan University Introduction Personality The Jungian personality test is based on Carl Jung’s theory of psychological types. After taking the test, the result was ENTP. The E stands for extrovert, the N for intuition, T for thinking and the P for perceiving. Each of the four areas of the assessment was very clear after being scored. As an ENTP, the primary mode of living is focused externally, where you take things in through your intuition. The secondary mode is internal, where they deal with things rationally and logically. With Extraverted Intuition dominating their personality, their primary interest in life, is understanding the world that they live in. They are constantly absorbing ideas and images about the situations they are presented in their lives. Using their intuition to process this information, they are usually extremely quick and accurate in their ability to size up a situation. This ability to intuitively understand people and situations puts them at a distinct advantage. They generally understand things quickly and with great depth. They are also flexible and adapt well to a wide range of tasks. ENTPs are idea people. Their perceptive talents cause them to see possibilities. They get excited and passionate about their ideas, and are able to spread their excitement to others. Their secondary process of introverted thinking drives their decision making process. Though they are more interested......

...Self-Analysis My environment was not very stable growing up. The definition of “dysfunctional” definitely comes to mind when looking back on the family unit that I was raised with. However, I do recall that watching how others around me socialized and interacted taught me that there were other ways of living and loving and I was determined to learn them. From an early age, I learned in bible school to treat people the way I wanted them to treat me, ie. The Golden Rule. I also learned that regardless of how I was treated in my home life by my siblings and parental figures, I could CHOOSE to treat others differently. I always knew that the way my father believed he should speak, interact, care for and discipline us was not the right way. As a child, I watched my neighborhood friends interact with their families, and it opened my eyes to how a normal family treats one another. For instance, I recall a certain neighborhood boy who always smelled on the school bus. Other children were so cruel to him; I would listen to them taunt him every day. One day, I stood up and socked one of his bullies in the nose. From that day forward, Wyatt Burkett and I built a friendship based on loyalty and mutual respect. It is surprising that my ability to stand up for my beliefs caused more people to respond to me and become my friend. I learned that you have to stand up for what you know in your heart is the right thing to do and people will respond to that socially. According to Kegan and......

...Teachers and students have distinctive learning styles. To become a successful learner; you must first understand how the human brain processes information. Each writer has their personal instinctive writing style, and can show how the brain functions. This writer will show how learning styles are applied to K-12 students and why it is important to recognize these characteristics. Self Analysis The reflective learner, “likes to work alone, and lecture can be difficult if not given time to digest (Trustees, 2009).” Reflective learning is part of the intuitive learning style. The writer is able to comprehend information by having time to think about the material, and by not just reading and memorizing the information. Reflective learners have to writer, summarize, and come up with questions to the material. The reflective learner has to look over the information more than just one time. For example, a reflective learner would have to write down the information that is given in a lecture as it is being given. Reflective learners have to learn through writing and listening to lectures. How does this apply to K-12 students? Reflective learning is used every day in the classroom to help the teachers engage in giving the students instruction. Teachers are able to share their insights with other teachers. Teachers are able to see what is working in the class with the students and what needs fixed for future lessons. In the article, An Integrated Model for......

...Self Analysis Erickson’s fifth stage of psychosocial development relates to me as my identity status as an adolescent. Erickson believes that during this adolescents need to develop a sense of self and personal identity. During adolescence, children are exploring their independence and developing a sense of self. As they make the transition from childhood to adulthood, teens may begin to feel confused or insecure about themselves and how they fit in to society. As they seek to establish a sense of self, teens may experiment with different roles, activities and behaviors. According to Erikson, this is important to the process of forming a strong identity and developing a sense of direction in life. Those who receive proper encouragement and reinforcement through personal exploration will emerge from this stage with a strong sense of self and a feeling of independence and control. Those who remain unsure of their beliefs and desires will insecure and confused about themselves and the future (Berger 2007). This stage was extremely important in my life because as a child growing up I was a very shy and quiet girl. My brother was my idol and I wanted to be just like him. I had friends in school, but those friends remained my friends from 1-8th grade. I did not like change or new environments; I was hard for me to transition because I was very timid and felt uncomfortable in new environments. As a result my parents sent me to a Catholic High School, and it was not coed. This......

Self-Assessment Analysis

...Self-Assessment Analysis Liberty University April 15, 2013 Abstract Personality plays an important part in ones behavior in the work place. One’s behavior good or bad is influenced by personality and their value system (Robbins and Judge, 2009). We see the various personalities within a team or organization; personality test have become a great way to identify strengths and weaknesses of individuals. After taking the Prentice Hall’s Self-Assessment Library test I discovered that I scored highest for “how satisfied I am with my job”. I believe the economy and job market played a part in my answers and scored the lowest for “how involved I am with my job” (Pearson Education, 2008, I.B.2). My Jungian 16-Type Personality was revealed to be an ENTJ (Pearson Education, 2008, I.A.2) on the previously Typology test I was an INFJ. The assessment revealed that I am for diversity, and I have a flexible view of others. The survey did confirm my leadership style of me being task oriented, even with my concern for others I work in a metrics and customer service driven work environment so the goal is always about completing the task and satisfying the customers. Step 1 Part 1: What about me? The first part of the Prentice Hall’s Self-Assessment is titled “What about me?”. The assessment helped to provide insight into the various parts of my personality in the areas of values, attitude, motivations and decision-making (Pearson......

...Binalfew Mecuriaw En 102 Prof. Nuredinoski 4/10/13 Self-analysis Essay During this short course of semester in English102, I have reviewed both my strengths and weaknesses. By reviewing both my strengths and weaknesses has helped me a lot to realize what I have improved, and what I still need to work on to improve. My two major strengths I have acquired during this semester are being abele to do my homework on time, and acquired the ability of outlining in order to control my idea through logically formulated outlines. What I need to work on to improve is class participation. I have improved my homework doing habit dramatically during this English 102 course. Doing homework has always been a complicated task for me before I attended this class. Since other English classes I took before were a full semester schedule, I used to come class with out doing my homework. Finally, when I registered in this accelerated and fast paced class, I realized that I had to do all my homework before I go class to follow my professor lecture very well. Now, I am able to understand what the professor teaches about. This helped me to follow the professor attentively during the lecture. Doing my homework in time is the most powerful thing I acquired during this course of semester. The second strength that I have improved a lot is my outlining ability to stick to my central idea. Before this class, I wrote a couple of paragraphs and essays on other English classes. However, I usually......

...about myself is almost right and it is a good feeling to know that. It's also kind of funny I know that Donald Trump have the same 4 letters as me, which by the way I'm not buying that. For the first letter I, which mean introvert. This is the personality that I know that it's true about myself because I love being alone most of the time, and I also get energy from being alone not around the people for example I would totally hang out with my close friend than going to the party with them and also clearly I really don't like to talk out loud that much. Second letter was S, which stand for Sensing, according to the website I have sensing more than intuition just one percent, which is really close. This is the only letter I got off from self-analysis in the class, but when I think about it. It was true that I'm sensing kind of person because for example, when I travel to the different places, I would just take a moment and enjoying what I seeing unlike other people who want to capture what they see and look at it later. It's just something that I rather experience for myself than look at it thought a plane of glass that's full of color pixels. Third letter was F, which stand for Feeling, Personally since I was a kid that I'm feeling person because I love adventure, and the feeling could bring me anywhere and anytime just because of my feeling for example, I would use my feeling but not the knowledge to pick the way when I got lost in the highway without any GPS and some how......

Multicultural Competency, Self-Analysis

...Multicultural Competency, Self-Analysis When assessing the consideration that one may hold a biased belief about a particular group of individuals based solely on their culture or ethnicity it is easy to say we as humans don’t judge individuals based on ethnicity, race, or cultural beliefs. In fact, this is a false statement as every human is shaped and influenced by their cultural heritage, ethnic and racial identity development, and other dimensions of identity that may cause a biased predisposition towards individuals who are outside of their own cultural perspectives. Individual Reflections When assessing guidelines one and two, I’m inclined to think I am a pretty non-judgmental individual in regards to culturally different groups. In my opinion this is possible because I have lived in many locations with many different cultural beliefs because of the military. When I was growing up, there really were not many individuals who were culturally or racially different. This lack of diversity caused a false perception that everyone was the same. After moving to Florida I learned that there are many different cultures, races and beliefs outside what I knew. At first it was different therefore I was a very judgmental individual but as years passed and I continued on life’s journey through Guam, Louisiana and now North Dakota I have a better understanding of how the cultural differences are vital in defining what makes America the country it is. Perception of Cultural......

Self-Management in Chronic Illnesses: a Concept Analysis

...Self-Management in Chronic Illnesses: A Concept Analysis Dianne Rinehardt Chamberlain College of Nursing NR501: Theoretical Basis for Advanced Nursing Practice November 2015 Self-management in Chronic Illness: A Concept Analysis Globally, the human species is experiencing longer life-spans. As the number of persons with extended lifespans increases, so does the prevalence of those living with chronic illnesses. With the inception of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2010, there has been a paradigm shift in the focus of healthcare from treatment to prevention. The origin of this paradigm shift occurred when traditional provider-directed/patient compliant approach failed to produce the outcomes that were expected (Udlis, 2011). Transforming healthcare from a treatment modality to one of prevention assumes that each person will be actively engaged in the prevention of chronic illnesses. Dorothea Orem’s self-care and self-care deficit nursing theory is based on the premise that people are naturally inclined towards self-care and that nursing should be focused on identifying and correcting any self-care deficits. Orem defined self-care as, “care that is performed by oneself for oneself when one has reached a state of maturity that is enabling for consistent, controlled, effective, and purposeful action” (Orem, Taylor & Renpenning, 2001, p 149). Orem’s self-care and self-care deficit theory is directly applicable to the concept of......

...earth I want to be considered as a humanitarian. I am now working toward the promotion of generational wealth of our youth. Once we’re gone it’s in their hands to maintain the upkeep and stability of our world. Being a humanitarian is a great reminder on the type of impact I would like to leave with the people. I never considered myself a follower but once I started to face my problems head on and gain a different outlook on life, the leadership qualities I now possess began to shine from within. A leader is known for making things happen and being in control. If we had nothing but followers in the world we would never expect change. Being a humanitarian and a leader are ideal roles for the achievement of success I have. “Me” Self-Concept Being self-aware is knowing the pros and cons of your own personality. In a broad sense I love myself and I have no flaws. In reality there are many different praises and critiques I give myself on a daily basis. I take great pride in how loyal I am to myself and others. Loyalty derives from respect and trust which are great qualities to have in family, friends, and relationships. Loyalty can make or break any relationship I have with someone. The more independent a person is the more I like them. Independence is a key factor about myself that I am thankful for. You have to have independence to be able to function in the world. Those that rely on others for certain things show signs of weakness. Those that lack independence are likely to......

...CLST100 Professor: Dina L. Smith 4/6/2014 I have always found it interesting how everyone can have a different learning style. It does not mean that one person is smarter than the other, and vice versa. Everyone is completely different with how they intake information and their learning skills. My best learning skill is Kinesthetic I am more a “hands on” learner. I have always been more successful and learned better once I actually did something hands on. I can learn verbally, and visual as well but that is my best learning technique. As mentioned above my dominant learning style is Kinesthetic of course. I plan to take this learning style to help with my online courses, by making study lessons each week. Every week when I am reading over material, I always make note cards with important key factors of what I read during that week. At the end of the week I review over all my material that I read for a refresher. I think the strengths I have with my learning style is that I retain information very easy. The information that I learn and receive will always stick and remain with me; I have great memory with the kinesthetic learning style. My personality type is very outgoing and optimistic. I am always eager to learn new things and experiment when it comes to different learning techniques. I know that with over the course of years when going to school it has helped me become successful in my courses. The strength of my personality is great because I will......
