Serendipity Walk

A chance could be very clever now and again because it doesn’t appear too many at a time that’s why if there is one, I suggest, you grab it so close!  This is what I always learn from my everyday undertakings. Well, as we all coexist and live as a society together, it is of the essence that a code of demeanour is recognized to live harmoniously; to be able to make things proper, to do things in a right way, to show good influences to others, to implement creative ways of dealing with everyday activities. While seeing the beauty of life, I noticed that we are always confused about how to differentiate between what is right or wrong, both personally and professionally.

This is just one simple thing that may lead to a great distinction as to how people act towards a scenario which could be his own life saver when it comes to his job, school concerns, family constraints, or some other relationships as they may deem very important to him. Looking at different places, while strolling inside the malls, or even on my way to school or back to our home, I see faces of people from whom I can feel diverse sentiments. Some are happy- go- lucky. Some may seem problematic. A lot of them, I see, are unsmiling and serious, although some are witty and funny-looking. I believe, these auras help us cope up with the very rough surface of professionalism, in connection to ethics, of course. Based on some existing distinctness, ethical behavior is something that goes beyond simply obeying a set of rules and regulations, it is about committing yourself to do and act according to what is right, cognizant of your own conscience.

To put it simply, professional ethics concerns one's behavior, conduct and practice when carrying out professional work. And most importantly, the way I see people is a big contribution to how I’m going to carry out with them, especially if when at work, the one assigned to be my partner is the one whom I foresee is not fun and sensible to be with. But who knows, he could be the best opposite of his looks. One should not really judge a book by its cover. 

As the very gist of this paper, I was actually thinking to the top of my sincerest ideas how I can essentially come up with a connection between my personal experiences from my daily encounters and an insight or discovery of a new facet of Professional Ethics. And by a dream that I have already been asking for so long now, it has finally befallen. My dream was that there’s this one special friend of mine who was overly influential and valuable that would be my greatest buddy ever. So it all starts there. I knew we had already fought over several things by now and to sum up how many misunderstandings we already had, it would be three, and oh, only three. By the way, she is my best friend. Perhaps, from the different arguments that we had, I learned a lot. Since she is important, I was very mindful of the way I shall talk to her, how to handle our conversation so as to end up with a certified resolution to all our concerns, and thereafter, continue being a professional friend to one another, both planning carefully to do what is right and justifiable. In short, human character is rebuilt and developed. At the same time, no two codes of ethics are identical. Even though, we have been together for a very long time, the way she thinks will always be certainly different from the way I do. As per two persons, even if they already have been so identical in too many ways, still, there is always a well-built screen which makes on very dissimilar from the other.

I, myself has been extraordinarily careful about something that I have right now because I know nothing in this world is permanent but change, though I still stand on my own conviction that a, friend, if once has been mine, will forever be mine- of course not in a manner that he cannot be a friend to others, seizing the state of being on my possession, but in a way that we will be holding our same old bond until we grow old and meet the very peak of our beings. Of course, it would be additionally inspiring if you’ve got an old friend with you, knowing that he has been a friend of yours from the moment you met each other and still enriching up until the rest of your lives. That could be the sweetest, I shall assert. :”> 

Precisely, of all instances I could give, why that dream? Why that thought? Because I believe, everything starts within one’s self. One should always set his own understandings as how the others understand them, and afterwards, take respective act to blend their views and come up with a great judgment, in favour of both of them. Prejudice may apply since, of course, there would always be one who must be willing to accept that he might be wrong or his ideas could be weak in some ways, but must still reflect an accommodating concern for his buddy. That is just simply how it works. If one has already known how to perform such admirable character, things fall into right places. Be it in rational scenarios, educational circumstances and regulatory situations; Think, Evaluate, Reflect, Decide, and then Act on your own. Finally, learn to Be Considerate by repeating those several steps after being familiarized with the others’ opinions. Then, the next best thing is to Accept.

Film Analysis on Serendipity

...Movie Review on Serendipity Walking into this movie I had expected to like it. I am a sucker for clichés. Cliché romantic tropes, and anything that has to do with things of that sort such as fate, and love. Things like 27 dresses, dirty dancing, and the notebook are a few examples of romances I’ve been automatically drawn to because it contained those aspects in it. As a hopeless romantic sap, I can’t turn away from these movies no matter how bad. And they do get bad sometimes they are almost always disappointing. The movies that tend to have these aspects in them tend to be awful, and extremely predictable. But I still fall for it every time. Because what is more heartwarming than a couple brought together by fate when they were separated to never see each other again? Love causing people to crash into each other, over and over again like the waves do when reaching out to the beach sand. That’s Romantic, and I can’t keep my hands off of it. In this movie the two Jonathan Trager (John Cusack), and Sarah Thomas (Kate Beckinsale) meet in a Burlington store looking for gifts for their significant others but when they both go to grab the same pair of gloves they end up face to face with each other. From then on they connect, and a short romantic sequence starts with them at a café called serendipity, and at ice skating bonding, and getting close. It’s a sort of instant love connection that they begin to form within a few ours that both began to feel confused about it...

Asymetric Shock, Long Term Debt, and Sovereign Default

...Asymmetric Shocks, Long-term Bonds and Sovereign Default1 Junjun Zhu, Shiyu Xie School of Economics, Fudan University January 2011 Abstract: We present a sovereign default model with asymmetric shocks and long-term bonds, and solve the model using discrete state dynamic programming. As result, our model matches the Argentinean economy over period 1993Q1-2001Q4 quite well. We show that our model can match high default frequency, high debt/output ratio and other cyclical features, such as countercyclical interest rate and trade balance in emerging countries. Moreover, with asymmetric shocks we are able to match high sovereign spread level and low spread volatility simultaneously in one model, which is till now not well solved. As another contribution of our paper, we propose a simulation-based approach to approximate transition function of output shocks between finite states, which is an indispensable step in discrete state dynamic programming. Comparing to Tauchen’s method, our approach is very flexible in transforming various econometric models to finite state transition function, so that our approach can be widely used in simulating different kinds of discrete state shocks. Stochastic Modeling of an Automated Guided Vehicle System with One Vehicle and a Closed-Loop Path

...504 IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON AUTOMATION SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING, VOL. 5, NO. 3, JULY 2008 Stochastic Modeling of an Automated Guided Vehicle System With One Vehicle and a Closed-Loop Path Aykut F. Kahraman, Abhijit Gosavi, Member, IEEE, and Karla J. Oty Abstract—The use of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) in material-handling processes of manufacturing facilities and warehouses is becoming increasingly common. A critical drawback of an AGV is its prohibitively high cost. Cost considerations dictate an economic design of AGV systems. This paper presents an analytical model that uses a Markov chain approximation approach to evaluate the performance of the system with respect to costs and the risk associated with it. This model also allows the analytic optimization of the capacity of an AGV in a closed-loop multimachine stochastic system. We present numerical results with the Markov chain model which indicate that our model produces results comparable to a simulation model, but does so in a fraction of the computational time needed by the latter. This advantage of the analytical model becomes more pronounced in the context of optimization of the AGV’s capacity which without an analytical approach would require numerous simulation runs at each point in the capacity space. Note to Practitioners—This paper presents a model for determining the optimal capacity of an automated guided vehicle (AGV) to be purchased by a manufacturer. This paper was motivated by work...

Morrie

...1. Morrie is optimistic towards his death. Although he is also distressed about his life-threatening disease, he is happy that he is given enough time to create more happy memories with his loved ones before he departs this material world. He perceives having the opportunity to bid farewell to the people around him as something good and wanted to make the best out of the remaining days of his life. For instance, Morrie even had a “living funeral” in which he himself who is about to die, participates in his own funeral. The close people who attended in Morrie’s “living funeral” all laughed and cried as they reminisce their experiences with Morrie, stressing how Morrie has touched each of their individual lives. What is very heart-warming and essential in the movie “Tuesdays with Morrie” that reflects Morrie’s outlook on death, and most importantly on life, is his interview sessions with his former close and favorite college student named Mitch. This is because Mitch wanted to preserve his memories with Morrie, he asked Morrie to tape record their interview sessions every Tuesdays revolving on fundamental questions about life. In response, Morrie happily agreed with the favor Mitch was asking him. Morrie wanted to share his life and experiences to Mitch in the light of teaching Mitch about life lessons on how one should appreciate the beauty of life and how to live it to the fullest. On one of the Tuesday interview sessions, the topic centered on death. Morrie pointed out one of...

Be Me.

...Abel Castillo English 102 Professor Butera Descriptive Paper Mundane Delicate whispers seep into the still, compact door. Suddenly, an alarm viciously roars filling the room with its intense growl. In an attempt to tame it, I grab hold of my calm comforter and barricade myself within it. The violent rumbling grows much louder. Falling out of bed, I slam the digital clock with such impeccable force that it completely becomes inaudible. Lazily, I explore for my soft, brown reindeer socks to accommodate my cold, little toes. Twisted, erect hair, as if a night-cow licked my head, takes control of my head from a distant, glass reflection. I finally make my way toward the cold, bare bathroom. Recovered, I find myself looking into the lifeless reflection to prepare for another unstable day. To start, I set my hands to find the light switch which seems to avoid me. Light glaring into my poor, unaware pupils, I set my hands in warm-filled water. I bring my face alongside the running, sincere water. After hydration, I attempt to clear out the cow-licked hair-do; I reach for my sturdy, black comb and combat the cow’s drool! With no avail, I soon give up. I place my index finger on the power button of the high-powered, blue electric-shaver and trim the fur that guards my face from fierce colds. Next, I prime my toothbrush with invigorating, peppermint toothpaste and smoothly graze each special tooth. I then enrich my essence with refined, colorful fragrances. Widely awake, I dash...

Intro to Cribbing Isomophs

...| An Introduction to Cribbing Isomophs, Gaussian Elimination and The Hidden Markov Model | | Abstract While looking into cryptography and the building blocks that make up ciphers and theory, a mix of time and effort has produced concrete methods of cryptanalysis to identify the temporal pattern recognitions and algorithms necessary to decrypt cipher-text back to its plaintext root. This paper will look at the process of cribbing isomorphs to reveal the plaintext message, Gaussian Elimination and the process of back substitution, and the Hidden Markov Model to view visible output to that which was once hidden. Table of Contents Introduction 2 Cribbing Isomorphs 3 The Hidden Markov Model 4 Gaussian Elimination 5 Conclusion 6 Introduction In any cryptanalysts toolbox, there are a number of methods at their dispense which can aid in the deciphering of crypto-text messages back into their native plaintext message. Since the dawn of man, ways have been invented to hide secret information in an attempt to keep secret an intent, hide a plan, cover up a bad deed or whisper softly over distances. Encryption has proven the means to get this data over a medium and ensure that the integrity of the message arrives intact. Many times this information is intercepted and then the deciphering process begins. By knowing a certain amount about a message, cryptanalysts are able to piece the remaining message together by using cribbing, algorithms and back substitution...

Predictability of Data

...Introduction Background of the study It is a common issue to test whether the stock prices are efficient, in most of the researches. It is found that long term returns are more predictable than short term and thus mean reverting. Studies mainly focus on autocorrelation of returns in different time lengths. In finance theory it says when autocorrelation of stock prices is there, then prices are predictable. Therefore, it is evidence against the random walk hypothesis of stock prices. Objective of the study The objective of this research is to test the efficiency of stock prices in Sri Lanka studying autocorrelation of short and long term returns in the CSE. Significance of the study There was a previous research on the predictability of short term returns and mean reversion in long term return in Sri Lanka in two important ways. 1. Previous studies utilized only shorter time periods because lack of long time series, since Sri Lankan stock market commenced only in 1985 and some researchers only used limited data which is the shorter time series available. Whereas the present study uses all-time series of returns available as at the research date (18.5 years from 1985-2003). 2. All previous papers tested only the short term returns except one. But this study examines short term predictability as well as long term mean reversion. It is important to use a long time series when predicting the long term returns to obtain correct results. Therefore, this...

Lately, nonprofit organizations have started using this popular trend to host their fundraising events appealing to different crowds. Especially during autumn and Halloween season, a zombie event is appropriate. A great example of how an organization has tied the zombie theme into their organization is the slogan, “Feed the Hungry”. America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia located in Savannah is a volunteer-driven nonprofit food bank. They serve twenty one counties in Georgia with the mission of feeding hungry people and supporting communities. On November 10, their organization will hold their 5th Zombie Walk on River Street. Donors will dress up themselves, their children, and pets for FREE with a donation of canned goods. There is free makeup, entertainment, games, and vendors ("Savannah zombie walk ," 2011). This is great idea to me because it is a wonderful family/friend idea to do together and gives back a fun opportunity to donors. Another appropriate time for a blood drive is Halloween. No explanation for blood or gore needed. Another idea that has been created is kids ditching the candy and collecting cans alone (Waters, 2012). Halloween is a time for everyone! Aubree Miller Narrative

...Columbus, Ohio. Some of you may have heard of me by the numerous news reports and articles and the amber alerts and things like that. When I was 15 I was kidnapped. The three years I was seperated from my friends and family, I was starved, beaten and sexually assaulted. I am writing this story to explain everything I remember about that horrible Friday night 7 years ago and my life while in captivity. It was a chilly October night in Ohio. The whole town was on our way to the local high school. It was the first time in 26 years that our varsity football team had made it to the championships. To say we were excited would be a vast understatement. My three friends; Chloe, Jada, and Nicole met me at my house around 5:45. We started the long walk to the opposite side of town. Once we got to the game we paid and walked towards the field. The old, concrete stands were overflowing with a sea of people. We found my parents and took a seat: just to jump right back up as our team ran out onto the field. It was the bottom of the second quarter when my mom asked me if I could go get her coat out of the car. As I walked further and further away from the field the cheering grew silent. I had been looking for the car for a little while when I thought I saw someone run behind the cars in the next row. I started walking a little faster now. I remember I was three cars away from our Honda Civic; when everything went black. Someone had grabbed me from behind and gagged me with a foul, wet rag. The...
