Two Wheeler Regulations

...Investment policy The Auto Policy (formulated in 2002) allows 100 per cent foreign direct investment (FDI) in the automobile industry through the automatic approval route. (The policy is in line with the commitments made by India to the WTO). Minimum capitalisation requirements have been abolished, in line with India's commitments to the World Trade Organisation (WTO). International companies can invest in India either by picking up a 100 per cent equity stake or by acquiring a share jointly with a domestic company, in the auto and auto ancillary segments. The policy aims to promote a globallycompetitive auto industry in India and develop the country as an international centre for sourcing auto components for manufacturing small cars, tractors and two-wheelers. Removal of quantitative restrictions In order to comply with the WTO agreement, quantitative restrictions on the import of new and used two-wheelers have been removed, and imports have been brought under open general licence (OGL) from April 2001. However, to protect the domestic industry and restrict likely imports, the government still sets high duties on these imports. Prior to liberalization of the Indian economy in 1991, CIL, like other private sector players in the Indian lubricants industry, was focused on its survival as there was a complete dominance of public sector oil companies cornering 90 per cent of the market share. After liberalization in 1991, CIL found itself in a growth phase — its business environment was driven by great growth prospects, private players were allowed to import base oil, administered pricing system was discontinued, and the economy started growing at a higher rate. CIL increased its market share from 6 per cent to 20 per cent and its focus shifted towards ‘creating more capacity, modernizing infrastructure, and improving quality Castrol India Limited, a 71% subsidiary of BP, is a leading lubricants player in India, with ~20% market share of the domestic automotive lubricants industry. This paper brings to the fore, various types of electrical machines, their operations, and applications, as well as the method of determining their parameters. Various ways of protecting electric machines against overloads and mechanical faults are also highlighted. It is anticipated that the work presented in this paper will be of immense benefit to practicing engineers especially in areas of machine design, maintenance, and protection. (Keywords: electrical machines, operation design, maintenance, protection, stator) the stator and alternating currents are induced in the rotor by transformer action. In the synchronous machine, direct current is supplied to the rotor and Alternating Current (A.C.) flows in the stator. On the other hand, a D.C. machine is a machine that is excited from D.C. sources only or that itself acts as a source of D.C. [5]. It is a common practice in industry to employ A.C. motors whenever they are inherently suitable or can be given appropriate characteristics...
