Assessment Centers

...Number 3 September 2009 Guidelines and Ethical Considerations for Assessment Center Operations1 International Task Force on Assessment Center Guidelines2 This document is an update of several prior editions of guidelines and ethical considerations for assessment center operations dating back to 1975. Each set of guidelines was developed and endorsed by specialists in the research, development, and implementation of assessment centers. The guidelines are a statement of the considerations believed to be most important for all users of the assessment center method. For instance, the use of job-related simulations is a core concept when using the method. Job simulation exercises allow individuals to demonstrate their abilities in situations that are important on the job. As stressed in these guidelines, a procedure should not be represented as an assessment center unless it includes at least one, and usually several, job-related simulations that require the assessee to demonstrate a constructed behavioral response. Other important areas include assessor selection and training, using ‘competencies’ as dimensions to be assessed, validation, participants’ rights, and the incorporation of technology into assessment center programs. The current guidelines discuss a number of considerations in developing and using assessment centers in diverse cultural settings. 1. Purpose staff of an assessment center; and (4) guidance on the use of technology in assessments. T his......

Call Center

...A call center managers can use the statistical report to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of an employee in the areas of response time and service level, number of calls per employee, first call resolution, and transfer rate.  By using the statistical report, it will help show the relationship between their performance and the organization standards or goals and it is easier to visualize.  It can also be utilized by the managers to take necessary corrective actions if needed. The response time and service level can be measured by the monitoring how many calls are answered within how many seconds and total number of calls in a day is being answered.  It is important to monitor the total amount of calls but we must consider the number of calls an employee is answering and should be reported to ensure that individual employee is properly assessed. This will also show if the employees are answering them promptly and not just a handful is answering the calls.    The first call resolution (FCR) measures the individuals’ ability to accomplish the task in one transaction and not transfer the call.  Transfer rate indicates how many calls have been transferred to another party to be handled. Monitoring the number of calls being transferred can identify if there are any performance gaps and training if needed (Reynolds 2012).   Reynolds, Penny (January 2012) The Top 20 Contact Center Metrics for 2012. Fusion Centers

...Fusion Centers: A Step In The Right Direction The formation of fusion centers is a step in the right direction to countering terrorist threats. By working efficiently and appropriately, information leading to arrests can be shared across county lines, state lines, and all around the world in a timely manner. Fusion centers can make law enforcement agencies more competent and effective in stopping crimes (to include terrorist attacks) before they take place. As long as the centers follow the laws they are governed by, they will remain ethical and can be a helpful addition in protecting the United States. Fusion centers in the United States perform a valuable role in countering terrorist threats, their positive influence far outweighs any negative actions they have conducted, and continue to provide an invaluable service to US law enforcement. Fusion is the integration and analysis of large amounts of information and intelligence for actionable policy ends (1). According to CongressionalResearch.com, “Fusing foreign intelligence with a wide spectrum of domestic information is the stated primary purpose of fusion centers” (2). Fusion centers, if managed properly, can be a valuable tool in not just countering terrorist threats but also in helping tribal, local, state, and federal law enforcement in stopping criminal activity as well as mitigating the after effects of natural disasters. Several studies had proven that there was actually an existing problem on the performance of employees in Cavite State University. An employee must be a communicator, a leader, a role model, and a collaborator. Each individual member of a team should understand exactly what their responsibilities and expectations are, and as their supervisor, an employee should work to help them reach those goals. Some people find performance management to be a difficult role to play. Some people in particular have difficulty when it comes to evaluating performance. But when it’s done well, performance management is about partnership and motivation at work. If it’s done from this perspective, there is nothing to be uncomfortable about. When this perspective is shared with your employees and they learn to see it that way, performance management becomes a powerful tool that helps your team to become more successful. (Tschiesche, 2013) Measuring performance is of great importance to an incentive plan because it communicates the importance of established organizational goals. “What gets measured and rewarded gets attention” (Bohlander et al, 2001). In discipline of human resource management, different writers suggest the following indicators for measuring employee performance and they include: quality that can be......
