Introduction

Workplace Sexual Harassment is an issue that is very delicate. The facts are that sexual harassment occurs more than most employers, and employees would like to admit and since the recession the number of cases has risen. All claims of harassment and sexual harassment should be immediately investigated by the employer, in the same manner as other employee complaints. If the investigation confirms the allegations made, immediate corrective action should be taken, including counseling and if appropriate, suspending, demoting, or discharging the offender.
In this paper we will look at the facts, causes, outcomes, employer/employee responsibility, and the statistics that are very alarming. Sexual Harassment is an issue that can be viewed in different ways depending on who is looking at the issue and why.
We will also look at the alarming trend of male sexual harassment and why it has become almost as common in the workplace as female sexual harassment.
I choose this topic because it was interesting that sexual harassment can mean many different things depending on who you ask. The fact that since the recession male sexual harassment has risen was also very interesting and the reasons why more males are reporting sexual harassment made me want to look at it closer.

In recent years the topic of sexual harassment has become one of the most talked about issues in the press. Sexual harassment is a topical problem for many employees that not only leads to discrimination in labor, loss in wages, low productivity and stress, but it also influence the general atmosphere of lawlessness and violence against the comfort of other human beings. The act sexual harassment creates a hostile tense working environment. In this paper we will discuss the challenges in managing and preventing sexual harassment in a culturally diverse workplace. The global trend to eliminate any forms of sexual harassment in the field of labor relations is one of the priorities of modern day society. Popular characterizations portray male supervisors harassing female subordinates, but power-threat theories suggest that women in authority may be more frequent targets. This article analyzes longitudinal survey data and qualitative interviews from the Youth Development Study to test this idea and to delineate why and how supervisory authority, gender nonconformity, and workplace sex ratios affect harassment. Relative to nonsupervisors, female supervisors are more likely to report harassing behaviors and to define their experiences as sexual harassment. Sexual harassment can serve as an equalizer against women in power, motivated more by control and domination than by sexual desire. It is agreed that sexual harassment is a form of gender discrimination and is recognized as a violation of human rights, however it still exists today. Sexual harassment violates women, lowers their self esteem, and leaves them feeling helpless, and in some cases trapped in a job that they cannot afford to quit, so they endure the harassment.
