Short Story On Jesus Talked To A Storm

Jesus talked to a storm. A storm. He talked to it. And the storm was like "Whatever you say boss!"
Dude, I wish I was there. I'd be freaking out think we were all about to die! Then Jesus would tell the storm to cut it out and behave itself. And you know I'd be there beside Jesus thinking He'd gone bonkers because let's face it people don't just talk to storms. But then the storm would stop. Just complete silence and calm. Jesus would turn to me and say "Andrea, why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" And I'd be checking with the other people making sure they just saw what happened too and I wasn't having a hallucination and they'd all be asking "What just happened. Who is this guy, I mean the STORM just obeyed him!"
Yea, Jesus

Resilience and Spirituality

...Abstract Through the course of researching and writing the paper some very interesting things about resilience and spirituality have been observed. While one would assume that a person that exhibits great faith would be very resilient, that is not always the case. Resilience comes from an inner strength that can be magnified by a strong faith. In order for a person to truly have a high level of resilience, they must also have a strong faith. That faith does not have to be in God but it does have to be a faith in something that you believe with protect you and see you through life’s trials. While a belief in something other than God many help a person in the short term, it will ultimately fail them as everything falls short of the Lord.   What is Resilience? Simply defined, resilience is the ability bounce back or recoil after being mashed, twisted, or bent. This is a fitting definition as I know that when I have been faced with trauma, I often felt mashed, twisted, or bent. It is such a simple word with a simple meaning but putting into action can often feel almost impossible. Putting this into action requires strength. A person needs to have a strong resolve and a strong faith in order to bounce back in the face of trauma. We are faced with some sort of trauma on an almost daily basis (Maddi, 2013). From the moment we are born we are participating in the Resilience Life Cycle (Dees & Huckabee, 2011). This applies to people of all ages. Trauma and the ability...

...Vol. 105-1 Earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. — Jude 3 The Ultimate Search and Rescue VIEWPOINT DURING A RECENT STAY in Harare, Zimbabwe, it was a blessing to become acquainted with Lancelot Muzondo, who was the first Zimbabwean to correspond with our organization’s headquarters back in 1953, when Zimbabwe was known as Rhodesia. He was the one who introduced Morgan Sengwayo (see testimony on page 21) to the Apostolic Faith. Sengwayo had been evicted from his home by his parents and Muzondo took him in. He told Sengwayo about the Apostolic Faith organization and the teachings of the Latter Rain Gospel. Before long, those teachings were reinforced by Timothy Oshokoya, who visited from Nigeria at Portland’s request. Sengwayo prayed through to his deeper experiences and in time was appointed to lead our Southern Africa work. While Brother Sengwayo’s legacy is well-known, the same is not true of the quiet man who initially taught him this way. Brother Muzondo has already outlived Brother Sengwayo by thirty years and is the surviving pioneer of the Zimbabwe Apostolic Faith work. He has been a stabilizing force in a work that thrives despite a history of national economic and political upheaval. Brother Muzondo was not only present at every activity during our visit, he was often at my side showing unwavering support for Portland headquarters and current Southern Africa District Superintendent Onias Gumbo. As in South Africa, our church...

Folk Tales Southern Thailand

...8 SOUTHERN THAILAND FOLK TALES Foreword… It all started a few years ago in a discussion with our English Major Students. We were talking about regional differences; how perceptions of people differ. I explained how people in the north of England view the folks from London and the south, and vice-versa. “It’s the same here in Thailand” one bright student chimed, “the folks in Bangkok and the north think everyone down here in the south are stupid, ignorant and to be viewed with extreme suspicion. But we have a very rich cultural heritage” she went on to explain. “We have history and stories that have been passed from father to son, from mother to daughter, for centuries.” So, it was agreed, the students would mine the Southern Thai Culture for the myths and legends that go to make folk tales. These would be documented and translated into English. This was to be a useful extra-curricular activity in the student’s quest for better English usage and understanding. The project ‘grew like Topsy’ and before long we had plans afoot to publish a small book that could, with a bit of luck, help to narrow the cultural divide between north and south Thailand. And, of course, educate and amuse us poor, ignorant, foreigners! Together with my friend and former colleague, Ajarn Kevin Marshall, we agreed to edit the student’s submissions, bring the often-archaic language up-to-date and inject modern usage and idioms whilst retaining the spirit of the original. It was a big idea but one that...

Supernatural by Brother Branham

...put that into perspective, my four children were in grade school when I began writing this biography. By the time I finished, three of my children were married and I had nine grandchildren. During the 17 years I worked on this project, my life had its ups and downs. I want to thank everyone who prayed for me during those 17 years. Finally I want to thank my four children—Benaiah, Betsy, Shiloh and Hannah—for their patience, their understanding, their encouragement, and their never-failing love. Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. —II Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV) 2 Introduction William Branham is not the first man in history to say that he talked with an angel; but...

Compilation of Nursery Rhymes

...Poetry Nursery Rhymes Most children love being told nursery rhymes. Many of the nursery rhymes that we have read to our children have their origins in British history. Rhymes were written for many different reasons. Some rhymes were written to honor a particular local event that has since been forgotten, while others were written to express feelings of love. Rhymes were also used to hide real meanings, such as when someone wanted to express displeasure toward the government or the sovereign without being executed. Another reason for rhymes is that they’re easy to remember, and therefore could be spread by word-of-mouth—an essential feature for a large population of people who could not read or write. So here are some of many nursery rhymes that have been written: Jack be Nimble (aka Jack b Nimble) Jack be nimble Jack be quick Jack jump over The candlestick. Little Tommy Tucker Little Tommy Tucker sings for his supper, What shall we give him? Brown bread and butter. How shall he cut it without a knife? How shall he marry without a wife? The Grand old Duke of York The Grand old Duke of York he had ten thousand men He marched them up to the top of the hill And he marched them down again. When they were up, they were up And when they were down, they were down And when they were only halfway up They were neither up nor down.
