Should gays be protected and respected?
Respect is defined as a feeling of admiring someone or something that is good, valuable or important. Protect is to cover or shield from injury or danger. Having heard both definitions now, after profound clarity of both words can you feel a feeling of admiration to a man who calls himself a man but yet lies with his same sex? Can you say within yourself that’s good or valuable, being homosexual? Is it possible for you to ever protect that man or woman? I think not.
My parents always told me “Familiarity brings contempt.” Gays are individuals too they behave just like straight people. Hence, respecting them or protecting will make their ideology of being gay less mind pricking resulting in them pushing for gay marriages and all sorts of gay rights and this is preposterous! The constitution of the Bahamas set sail to gays and opened a whole new world for this abomination. Why? Someone felt the need that gays should be respected and nothing is wrong with same sex sexual activity.
Moreover, giving homosexuals and lesbians respect serves to validate not only such unions but the whole homosexual lifestyle in all its bisexual and transgender variants. Civil laws are structuring principles of man's life in society. As such, they play a very important and sometimes decisive role in influencing patterns of thought and behavior. They externally shape the life of society, but also profoundly modify everyone’s perception and evaluation of forms of behavior. Allowing gays to be protected and respected would necessarily obscure certain basic moral values, devalue traditional marriage, and weaken public morality.
Additionally, let’s say we give gays respect and protect them. They obviously would want to take on the same role as straight couples and get married. Let’s say they get married now since they have the same perception of a

Conflicting Viewpoint#Should Gay Marriage Be Legal?

...Conflicting viewpoints Name Institution Should Gay Marriage be Legal? Introduction The family is an important institution in the society. This is because it enables people to maintain the moral fabric of the society, hence keeping the nation moving. According to biblical teachings, a family comes up through marriage between a man and a woman. Once the two get married, they are to honor God’s commandment of fulfilling the earth through procreation. This aspect makes children an important, but not a must aspect of a family. This is because there are some people who cannot bear children naturally. When it comes it same sex marriages, the concept of a family loses meaning. This is because people in these marriages cannot have kids of their own. At the same time, their sexual acts are unnatural if not extremely weird to heterosexuals (Greenberg, 1993). Based on these factors, legalizing same sex marriages will definitely be destroying the moral marriage institution. Kids who are growing up will not know the importance of having a family, something that is likely to have a serious impact on the continuity of the nation’s traditions. As a result of these scenarios, I am against the idea of legalizing these marriages as they are likely to compromise the wellbeing of the society. Body Points that oppose my viewpoint Today, there are people who strongly believe that same sex marriages should be legalized. These people give various reasons to support their position. These reasons...

Should Homosexuality Be Legalized

...decision someone makes to like their own. Discrimination and marginalization of gay people is present in almost every society, despite the global stride for equality. People who despise or abominate homosexuals built their rebellion upon teachings from the bible. However, if every sin mirrors the same weight, why isn't there laws that stands against adultery? This shows how humanity's perception of life is warped and twisted to satisfy what we think is acceptable. Prohibiting gay marriage is grounds of discrimination, evidently preventing someone from being happy and satisfied should not be within human protocol. It is no longer a theory rather its reality and also adoption rates will genuinely sky rocket due to their inability to reproduce. Scrutinizing someone's lifestyle from a prospective that it should imitate yours, is contradicting humanity's theme, equality. Despite one's skin color, race or gender, they should have equal rights and be entitled to privileges that everyone considered acceptable is. Likewise with homosexuals, their sexual orientation should be a norm among this predominantly borderline society. Within the LGBT community (Lesbians Gays Bisexual Transvestites) they all share this one mutual thought; their choice to be gay should be recognized as a right. Homosexuality isn't protected by any Federal Civil Rights Law in 4 out of 5 countries globally. Due to this, gay men and lesbians are often subjected to hostility, disrespect and violence. Their...

Legalization of Same-Sex Marriage

...Should Same-sex Marriages be Legalized? Kristina Linthicum PHI 200: Mind and Machine Instructor Michele Clearman-Warner May 5, 2011 Should Same-sex Marriages be Legalized? In recent news articles, it is being said that the legalization of same-sex marriages is imminent. But the biggest debate about the issue is should it be legalized? While there are many points that are for and against the issue, one thing remains. This is a legal issue on whether the law should be changed. When deciding whether a law should be changed, it should be viewed in a legal manner. Here is why same-sex marriages should be legalized in the United States of America. Part I: Thesis The United States of America was based on freedom. While each freedom was not spelled out in the constitution, it is something that can not be refuted. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines to marry as “to take a spouse or to unite in close and usually permanent relations” (Definition 2). While it is socially more accepted now than ever for same-sex couples to live together and even have children together, why are they being held back in receiving the freedom and benefits every opposite-sex couples receive? The right to be able to marry should be equal whether in same-sex couples or opposite-sex couples. Finkelstein (2011) points out that “marriage strengthens commitment between couples and therefore brings stability into the lives of those who enter in it”. If same-sex couples are able to cohabitate...

Adam and Eve or Adam and Steve

...Devin Brumfield Maldonado/Period5 English 2 5 November 2013 Adam and Eve…or Adam and Steve? The following is a persuasive essay that argues two points: whether same-sex marriage is wrong and whether it is not. Before this essay is started out, here are a few interesting facts on homosexuality and same-sex marriage. The Netherlands was the first nation to legalize same sex marriage (in 2001). Same sex marriage is outlawed in 76 countries as of 2013. These are just a few out of the ma ny facts about homosexuality/same-sex marriage. This essay has several key points to why same-sex marriage is okay. Same sex marriage/attraction is not a sin and the Bible and history is wrong about the definition of ‘traditional marriage’, it does not affect heterosexual values/attraction, it increases the number of adopted orphans, I) Traditional marriage (same sex marriage isn’t considered a traditional marriage because its same sex) isn’t historically/culturally accurate a. The Random House Dictionary (circa 1970) defines marriage as “the state of being married”. Today, many Americans like to define marriage as “a bond between a man and a woman only”. Traditionally, Christians (who make up America’s religion census) oppose the concept of same-sex marriage because in the Bible it is viewed as a “sin”. Protest and posters that read “Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve” and “God hates fags” all because same sex marriage isn’t “traditional” marriage. The shocking thing is that it isn’t...

...LEGAL PROCESS Shanees Gay MGT/434 October 12, 2015 University of Phoenix LEGAL PROCESS PAPER Introduction Discrimination in the workplace comes in many forms. Workplace discrimination happens when a member of a protected class is treated differently than their peers. An act of discrimination may occur in relation to refusal to hire, termination, denial of training, etc. This may happen simply because of the employee’s race, gender, nationality, religion, ace, disability, and even familial status (a pregnancy). Employees are protected under the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Complaint Process John must begin the civil litigation process beginning with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is the leading agency for handling issues of job discrimination and deals with most matters of employment discrimination under federal laws. May 4th Massacre Analysis

...York University to Washington, D.C. It exemplified how unpopular government action could rally millions to speak out against the actions of their elected officials. This set the precedent for large scale protests that have occurred throughout the four decades between now and the May 4th Massacre. The country has learned that peaceful protests can produce results and actions. Soon after the shootings, the Twenty-Sixth Amendment of the United States Constitution was passed and ratified. This amendment lowered the voting age from twenty one to eighteen years old. This essential piece of legislation expanded the electorate and allowed for a more diverse representation in the voting process. During 2015, the United States Supreme Court voted that gay marriage, also known as marriage equality, was legal in the entire country. This issue was bravely fought for since the 1970s. Due to the hard work of millions of Americans, including the act of peacefully protesting, same-sex marriage was legalized. This is only one of the many contemporary examples of how the actions of assembling and speaking about the vital issues can cause a dramatic change anytime, anywhere in the...

At the same time, once we begin to think about it, we find that the basis of human dignity can be understood in a number of different ways. As David McCabe points out: Most discussions of important moral and political issues, along with our everyday reflections on how others should be treated, occur against a background assumption of human dignity—for example, the idea that human beings have special standing shared by no...

Throughout history American women have been subjected to such stereotypes that they are the weaker sex and are incapable of performing work that requires physical labor or intellectual reasoning. The attitude toward women was that their primary purpose in life was to have children and tend to household chores. Traditionally American women learned from their mothers to cook, clean, and tend to the children.
