‘’OUCH!’’, my tooth hurts. How I wish I could go to the dentist but I cannot because I do not have insurance. In today’s days, our health care system is out of place. Today millions of Americans cannot afford the sufficient health care they need. The price of health insurance is costing us the people thousands of dollars. Therefore, I believe the government should provide health care to all citizens regardless of their ability to pay for that care. Some rich people may prefer to pay for medical treatment, while the government must necessarily subsidize the health care for children, senior citizens, the unemployed and the homeless, as these groups cannot provide for themselves and, are extremely financially vulnerable. However, working adults can use the benefits of the medical insurance, which will give them an opportunity for a decent medical service and reduce the general taxation burden. The issue of health care throughout the years has been a major issue in the society in the United States and it is one of the most important aspects of an election campaign of any political party. One issue concerning healthcare is that it is very expensive and more than 52 million people do not have any coverage or they have less adequate coverage. In addition, it is very important for people to have coverage for general healthcare maintenance and just in case, something drastic occurs, in their life. A well-organized, efficient health care system is not that easy to provide and one of the key problems on the way to the ideal hospitals and medical help is proper funding. Nowadays, there are three basic types of funding: private, insurance and state. Nevertheless, many people believe that the government must bear full responsibility for providing the money our health care service needs. However, I do not completely agree with the…...

Healthcare Should Be Free

...Should Health Care Be Free? It is clear that health care is imperative to achieve, the issue raises when we have to decide if whether it should be free or not. According to Ted Kennedy during his speech given on Memphis, Tennessee on December 1978 pointed out that “Health Care is a Right, not a privilege” (, Dec). It should not be a commodity for wealthy people; it should be a basic right for all individuals, no matter age, race, ethnicity, or gender. After Kennedy’s accident in an airplane crash and having all the care possible given to a privilege person, as he was, he realized that medical care must be provided to all Americans and it should not be a limitation for those who cannot afford it. Currently in the United States, healthcare is considered a privilege, not a basic right. The Center for Economic and Social Rights states that: “Although the United States offers coverage for the very poorest Americans through Medicaid, this fails to reach millions of Americans who do not qualify as the poorest but still have far too little money to afford purchasing their own health insurance (Pies, 2011). Healthcare should be considered a civil right where Americans with less economic possibilities can still be treated by a doctor. In this case, we refer to the insured and uninsured citizens. Although lack of health insurance does not entirely prevent a patient from receiving healthcare services, it certainly makes it extremely difficult (Trotochaud, 2006). ......

Should Government Be Responsible for Csr?

...Should Government have the largest influence on Corporate Social Responsibility ? Introduction Carroll’s four responsibilities of business are economic, legal, ethical, and discretionary (Carroll, 1991). Economic responsibility is a business organization to produce goods or service to society, and creditors or shareholders can get return. Legal responsibility is defined in law by government that management is expected to follow. Ethical responsibility is organization management to obey the beliefs in a society. The last discretionary responsibility is the management of their own accord to take obligations, they do it by themselves, and not others force them to do (Carroll, 1991). Definition of Corporate Social Responsibility Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is defined as a business’s decisions or actions are made which take outcomes beyond the organization's economic profit into account in the decision making process (Carroll, 1991). Social responsibilities include ethical responsibilities and discretionary responsibilities. The difference between them was that less people expect a firm to perform discretionary responsibilities, while a lot of people expect a firm to perform ethical responsibilities. Discretionary responsibilities are like day-care centers, to training the hard-core unemployed and philanthropic contributions. A firm can take actions to perform its ethical responsibilities and discretionary responsibilities that society will value it......

Doctors Should Provide Free Care

...Doctors should provide free care In this essay I will show that doctors should provide free care to their patients some time during their career. I will argue that doctors provide a public service to the greater benefit of their community during time of natural disasters. Secondly I will show that most doctors already do provide free care to their patients through church or other charity. Lastly I will argue that doctors have a moral obligation to provide a service and give back to their community. During natural disasters, such as Hurricane Katrina and other epic events many doctors and other medical professionals will provide their skills and labor for free to help out their fellow countrymen in time of need and despair. Many doctors and other medical personal also serve in the military for a period, providing care at a lower pay than they otherwise could have earned as a civilian. During normal times, most doctors I meet do provide free care in their community. I see this happen in church related activities and happenings. One example is vaccinations against the flu or at local homeless shelters etc. Many doctors work several days per month for free at their local church hospital where they volunteer and help out. Besides volunteering at the local church I also believe that certain professions come with a moral obligation to give back to the community in which he lives. Dentists, doctors, teachers and police officers are all providing a unique contribution to our society.......

Government Welfare Should Be a Priority

...Andrew espinoza ENGL December 5, 2013 Government Welfare Should Be a Priority More people are losing their jobs due to government cut backs or getting injured on the job. If not at fault you should automatically be qualified for government welfare. Should there be drug testing for anyone applying for government welfare? Should families who suffer from government or small business cut backs be able to apply for government welfare? Should families with economic hardship or loss of a loved one be given government welfare? With government cut backs and more families losing their jobs, government welfare should be given to families who cannot afford to support the household during recovery. There needs to be a deadline on how long you can have government welfare if approved by the state government. All government welfare should not be abolished to people who lose their jobs due to government cut backs because the government decides to push Obama care to all small businesses. The small businesses that have to provide proof of medical insurance for their employees means the businesses have to pay more money to the insurance companies. In turn the companies have to make some cut backs to compensate for the money loss. This causes layoffs and families have to rely on government welfare. Government welfare should automatically be given to the families who have got laid off or injured in the work place. The only way to receive government welfare is by passing drug tests and......

Should the Australian Government Provide Money to Car Manufacturers to Stop Them from Moving Overseas?

...Should the Australian Government provide money to car manufacturers to prevent them from moving their operations overseas? Discuss, drawing on contemporary debates about this issue in the news media? The Australian Government should provide money to car manufacturers to prevent them moving their operations overseas. The car manufacturing industry provides jobs to many Australians and by moving operations overseas many Australians will lose their jobs. Due to the recent overseas relocation of Ford and Toyota there has been a “loss of.. 50,000 jobs” (Martin, Feb 12th 2014, SMH). By losing their jobs, Australian workers are being left stranded without an income and the inability to work in the industry they have been trained in for most of their careers. By the government giving million dollar packages to major car manufacturing companies such as Holden, they are giving employees payouts to assist them after they leave the company. Also by giving companies huge subsidies, they are trying to help them not to move their operations offshore into foreign countries. However by giving car manufacturing companies such as Holden and Toyota huge payouts, the common Australian taxpayer is left to fit the bill. Many critics of the Australian government’s huge subsidies are questioning whether it is worth pouring millions of dollars into an industry which is closing down operations in Australia by 2017. David Sinclair, a Professor of Economics at RMIT said that “you can’t just really buy...

In Your Opinion, Should Healthcare Be Free?

...In your opinion, should healthcare be free? No, I don’t think healthcare should be free. Well I take that back, I do think basic healthcare should be free. I think we should all be covered under something like Medicaid for the basics like routine exams, dental, vision, etc. I think beyond that you should have to purchase a plan either through your employer or directly from the government. I don’t think our taxes should pay for extended care such as specialists or elective surgeries but I don’t do think basic care is a right we should all have as an American. If we are the richest country in the world, surely we can afford to do that. I think the Affordable Care Act is a step in the right direction but we need to go further. I think programs like Medicare should still exist as it does today and you would transition into that at age 65. I personally find it very difficult to stomach the fact that I pay taxes for someone who is probably very capable of getting a job to have free healthcare (I also have issues with Welfare and Food Stamps – but that’s for another day). There are circumstances in which it’s warranted, like disability or even in between jobs but not so you can stay home and do nothing. It’s not fair, so I believe we should all benefit. Now in this world, if you do not have a job, you can get free extended care, however, it would be highly regulated. Meaning, you can’t just be on this program and not doing anything. There would be monthly check-ins......

Government Should Give Subsidies Manufacturesto

...In this essay am going to agree that the government should give subsides to car manufactures. In recent days there is a lot happening regarding car manufacturing industries. We see business being taken over by other shareholders overseas and the common news which we hear every day that is cutting jobs. If the government does not provide the automotive industry with enough assistance, the companies will easily go to liquidation. In my opinion this stops the outside people from taking over and jobs being lost. However, it is good for business too when an overseas individual or a firm occupies the business in the country. According to economics outside business can boost the business of the whole nation. The prime minister does not intend in any way to assist car industry which is good and bad. Looking at it, we see quiet a lot of outside investors chipping in when a company is broke. This however does not look good especially a first world country like Australia. The Productivity Commission has rejected calls for extra federal assistance for Toyota's car-manufacturing operations and called for all Australian government subsidies to carmakers to end by 2020(Maher, 2014).This indicates that by 2020 Toyota will be no more and it means jobs are going to be lost too. Mercury, 2014, said that by 2017,2500 jobs would be cut, and Toyota will quit doing business with Australia. It is reported that Toyota has hold talks with some foreign investors who are willing to take over the......

: How Can the United States Government Improve Healthcare? Who Should Be the Decision Makers in Healthcare Reform?

...Types of Healthcare Models: Socialized Medicine, Private Insurance, HMOs, Obamacare Pros and Cons to various healthcare models in terms of: quality of care provided, life-expectancy, accessibility to care, preventative medicine Focus: What type of health care model works best for the United States? Claim #1: The United States should look at overall health of various nations and try to copy systems used in countries with the highest overall healthcare ratings (I hope to prove this claim wrong) Claim #2: The U.S. President should not have very much say in the system put in place; rather, medical experts with a solid knowledge of public health and economics should be making these decisions. Claim #3: The best system for the United States would take our entire culture into perspective. The highly litigious environment that has been created by successful and powerful medical malpractice law firms has caused the cost of basic healthcare to go up, propagating an environment where the doctor must watch his or her back, before using logic in the distribution and usage of medical resources. Perhaps the reason that U.S. healthcare is subpar is because we are wasting too much money on unnecessary tests that have evolved into the standard of care in this country. If the focus were more on using medical logic to treat patients, rather than protection from medico-legal lawsuits, there might be more money to take care of basic patient healthcare needs, such as......

Should the Government Continue Subsidising Rice

...Should the government continue subsidising essential good like rice in Malaysia? Who gains more from the subsidy; consumers or producers? Using the relevant economic tools, analyse the statement and provide your policy suggestion to address this issue. Generally essential goods are considered delicate by the government due to the fact that the demand for essential goods are inelastic, demand is not responsive to a significant change in price which means that firms can take advantage of this concept of rice being an essential good and charge unaffordable prices. In order to control the price levels of essential goods like rice, the government may exercise intervention in two forms, by either subsidies or by taxation. A subsidy is a payment or funding by the government to suppliers that enable them to reduce their costs of production and acts as an added incentive for suppliers to increase their output. For instance when the government subsidises rice, the cost of production on the supplier’s side decreases, this means that they can produce the same amount at a lower cost which most probably will reduce the price. The diagram below shows the effect of subsidies on price of rice: Market for Rice – Malaysia Price Price P1 P1 P2 P2 Q2 Q2 Q1 Q1 SS2 SS2 SS1 SS1 DD1 DD1 Quantity Quantity Surplus Surplus E3 E3 E1 E1 E2 E2 Q3 Q3 In the diagram, initially the equilibrium price is at P1 and equilibrium quantity is at Q1. Government Roles in Healthcare

...Government Roles in Healthcare The government consists of federal, state, and local governments making this combination one of the largest payers of healthcare. The government has some important roles when it comes to the world of healthcare including the management of healthcare finances, the deliverance of healthcare, and the regulation of healthcare; these roles differ amongst the federal, state, and local governments. The federal government makes up the largest part of the government’s relationship with healthcare. The Fundamentals of US Health Care (2013) says that the federal government contributes three-quarters of healthcare spending to insurance programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP. They also provide funding for mental health, medical education, community health centers, and public health programs. It also plays a part in delivering care to people. The federal government is responsible for delivering care to American Indians, the military, veterans, and those that are uninsured. With a large part of the world unable to afford health insurance this leaves the federal government responsible for that part. The Fundamentals of US Health Care (2013), states that the federal government also regulates the providers of healthcare programs by making sure there is no discrimination and regulating what drugs can be sold. With all the funding that the federal government provides, the care that it delivers to specific organizations, and the regulations that it......

Should the Federal Government Provide Healthcare for Citizens That Cannot Afford Their Own?

...The Federal Government should provide health care for citizens who cannot afford it. Actually the Government should provide health care for all citizens and legal residents, whether they can afford it or not. Healthcare should be a right; everyone should be entitled to proper healthcare and not be subject to being medically treated or not, based on their financial status. Because of the economic downturn, there is a much higher percentage of citizens that cannot afford to pay for healthcare. Here in the United States the healthcare system is quite complicated; it is operated under a managed care system. There are many people today that are hard working honest citizens that cannot even afford to pay for the healthcare insurance even if it is offered at their job. There are quite a few countries in the world that provide healthcare for all citizens including the United Kingdom and Canada. Right here in the United States the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Healthcare reform is set up to provide healthcare for those who cannot afford, why can’t it be done nationwide. The new health Reform or ‘Obama care’ as it is becoming popularly known as, is designed to assist those who cannot afford proper healthcare. In my opinion, every citizen or non citizen of a country should be entitled to proper healthcare. Healthcare should be a right and not judged on how much income you have. There are people in this country that have not been treated properly because they do not have any health......

Healthcare Services Should Not Be Privatised providing a good healthcare to all, regardless of patients’ ability to pay, private hospitals are usually determined by the search for profits. This event has caused many arguments when the issue of privatizing healthcare in Malaysia arises. Most citizens disagree with this idea because the administration is moving far from giving almost free human healthcare services, citizens are not sure to give a piece of their wages and are confronting high dangers of corruption. Therefore, Malaysia should not privatize health care services. According to (Jayabalan, 2012) the main reason for this problem is the government is moving far from giving almost free human healthcare services. The existing healthcare system is already effective as it provides cheap and affordable healthcare as well as excellent healthcare coverage (Ng., 2012). Furthermore, the World Health Organization (WHO) had rated the current healthcare services ‘excellent’ (Ng., 2012) Bloomberg on the other hand has reported that Malaysia was put 27th on the Most Efficient Healthcare 2014: Countries and's yearly Global Retirement Index reports that Malaysia are one of the nations that give the best and most reasonable social insurance on the planet. Therefore, the current system should be maintained, not changed. Plus, the citizens are not confident to give a part of their wages to the government (Jeyakumar, 2012) .Generally, the quality of medicinal consideration should exclusively be on......

Why Should Healthcare Be Free?

...“Why Healthcare Should Be Free?” As Marcy Jackson walked to the counter of the Healthcare information desk, she took a deep breathe. Marcy had been to the healthcare desk once before about 4 months ago and she was denied access because she was overweight. So Marcy thought if she lost the 13 pounds within this month, she could go back and reapply. Walking up to the desk, she was accompanied by her daughter, who was 6 –years –old, Anna Jackson. The receptionist asked her, “How can I help you today?” She replied, “I am here to re-apply for healthcare.” She received the forms, filled them out and was told to wait for a phone call in a couple of days. A few days went by and Marcy was away at work and missed the call from the Healthcare organization, but they left her a message on the answering machine. The message said, “Hi, sorry that you missed our call. I am a representative from the healthcare organization that you applied to a few days ago. I am so sorry that because of your weight, you have been denied access for affordable healthcare. If you have any questions you can contact us at your local healthcare location. Have a nice day.” Marcy fell to her knees she could not believe what she had just heard. She tried so hard to lose the weight and just when she thought it was enough, she failed again. Marcy worked two jobs just to keep things in order and being able to afford healthcare for her and her daughter, just was not enough. And this should not be the case, it should not......

Should Government Provide Health Care to Its Citizens?

...Uil speech thing Chris D Does government have a responsibility to provide health care for its citizens? Well they are two sides to it both sides thoroughly argued and researched. America itself is the only “westernized” country without any universal healthcare, along with Africa (exception of South Africa) India, the Philippians and others. While many argue that America is in need of a health care system, many of its recipients (not all) are unemployed and blew their chances at school. But also many are poor and can’t afford necessary health care especially in our current economy. It is essential for those who cannot take care of themselves to receive the proper care to maintain a healthy and happy life. The Declaration of Independence states there are certain 'inalienable rights', including life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. If Americans believe in an inalienable right to life, how can we tolerate a system that denies people lifesaving medications and treatments? Not only that, The Preamble to the United States Constitution and Article One of the U.S. Constitution both describe an originating purpose of our United States: to promote the general welfare. Health care is a legitimate function of our government. Even in countries like Canada and the U.K., there is no right to health care. Rather, citizens in these countries are told by government what health-care treatments they are eligible to receive and when they can receive them. Although Canada has...

What Should Be the Role of Government

...What should be the role of government in international business relations? Government and business are interdependent, and when it comes to international business, this interdependence has grown even further by the globalization of economy. Government often intervene in trade by strongly supporting their domestic companies’ exporting activities. But the more emotionally charged trade intervention occurs when a nation’s economy is underperforming. At this point, government role will be protecting from imports that are reducing work and eliminating jobs in the domestic market, preserve national security and protecting consumers. Protecting jobs and Industries One of the government roles in international business will be protecting jobs and industries from foreign competition. Trade flows can cause major structural shift in employment. Links between industries spread these effects throughout the economy. Such as low domestically produced product will affect the industry that linked to the firm. To protect from foreign competition government can use TARRIFFS AND QUOTAS. Tariffs protects domestic producers of a product because import tariffs raise the effective cost of an imported good, domestically produced goods can appear more attractive to buyers. Also by Quotas protect its domestic producers by placing a limit on the amount of goods allowed to enter the country. This helps domestic producers maintain their market shares and prices because competitive forces are......
