Case: Apple 1.1 From the case study, it is apparent that the Apple Company has recently changed its strategy towards its hiring methods; it is now looking for well qualified, skilled employees of other organizations that may be looking for other opportunities. From one perspective, it may seem like an unethical business strategy because they are looking for employees that acquired their training and skills from other businesses. Other companies went through the selection and hiring process to find those people, spent time training them to further their knowledge and expertise in a certain field. On the other hand, we live in the world of competition where the survival of any business depends on how well they can compete on the market. Some may say, companies can steal customers from each other, why not employees? It is up to a company to make sure their employees want to stay with the business for a long time. Personally, I would go with the ethical way of conducting business, but it is up to a company to decide how they want to be perceived by the outside world. 1.2 The employees found through the black card strategy would most likely have to go through the same training as any other newly hired employees. They may already have good customer service skills and high sales records in the past, but the Apple Company would probably want them to familiarize themselves with the whole Apple culture and certain atmosphere in order for them to get excited about the products and feel like a part of the company. It can be assumed that those employees would be more satisfied with their jobs than the ones hired in more traditional way because they are more skillful and experienced in their tasks and are more likely to be recognized for their achievements. 1.3 It is up to the Apple Company to make sure that the Best Buy employees are just as motivated to sell their products as the employees of their company. This result can be achieved by providing an extensive training and learning sessions, which would help them to feel more like a part of the company. The Apple Company can also use some of the traditional strategies of increasing production, for instance, by setting up commission rates for those who sell more products. There may be other incentives for Best Buy employees to offer Apple products to their customers, such as opportunities to get promoted within the Apple Company or get raises.

Evaluation of this project is focused on how to improve the actual instruction material and how to better teach the learners. The evaluation of the audience or learners is necessary to determine how affective the material is being understood and how the learners feel about how the material is presented. Evaluation can bridge the gap between how the instructor assumes or believes the material is coming across, and how the learners are actual grasping the material. In addition, learners that take the course or are administered the instruction can provide necessary unbiased feedback about how the information...

Key Issue 2012

...Q E MIS Uarterly xecutive Key Issues for IT Executives 2012: Doing More with Less This is the seventh in a series of MISQE-published reports based on an annual SIM membership survey. With the enduring economic uncertainties prevailing, these U.S.based organizations are now focusing not only on leveraging IT to reduce business and IT expenses, but also to generate revenues from IT innovations. While IT budgets for hiring, and salary increases are on the rise, these increases are less than last year’s when organizations were more optimistic that the economic conundrum was ending. There is also greater attention to reducing IT budgets through IT infrastructure spending (especially Cloud) and sourcing (especially offshore). Jerry Luftman Global Institute for IT Management (U.S.) Barry Derksen Business & IT Trends Institute (The Netherlands), University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands) Since 1980, the Society for Information Management (SIM), in a joint effort with different research leaders, has conducted an annual survey of the key issues facing IT executives globally and in the United States in particular. One of the important strengths of this research is in its ability to identify important trends by comparing survey data from previous years. The 2012 SIM survey, conducted in the 2nd and 3rd quarter of 2012, once again focused on three important areas: Key IT Issues Included in the Survey 1. Management concerns This year’s participants were asked to provide their...

Does the Economy Affect Our Children Education?

...superintendents’ job and what they need to do to improve our children’s education. What strategies they will use for our benefit (the benefit of the community). The economy could recover eventually, but it could take more than four years. This Depression has happened before in Washington State. I believe that if they could recover back then we could see an improvement again. We want excellent schools for our children, and they could be provided with a good education for the children to be successful in life. According to Sims (2004) “As members of a community, we want a high-quality school system so that we can attract and develop new businesses. As citizens, we want our nation to have a world-class educational system that enables our children to compete with the best that other nations have to offer” (p. 3). If the government does not contribute into children’s well being, and constantly cuts the budget instead of equally funding schools to implement the programs. According to Sims (2004) “We assume in this study that each state would take an incremental approach to the problem,...

...1 Analysis of Three Instructional Design Models 2 Abstract Instructional design models provide for a systematic approach of implementing the instructional design process for a specific educational initiative (Morrison, Ross, & Kemp, 2004). This paper will briefly describe the purpose and what instructional models are followed by process of three selected models: (a) the Dick and Carey systems approach; (b) Morrison, Ross and Kemp model (also known as the Kemp model); and (c) the Three-Phase design (3PD) model. The process description for each model will serve as the foundation and supporting points required for comparing and contrasting process of the models. 1 Dick and Carey, Kemp, and Three-Phase Design models for Instructional Design Instructional design (ID) models can provide a systematic approach of implementing the instructional design process for specific educational initiatives (Morrison, Ross, & Kemp, 2004). Gustafson & Branch (1997) states that there is a wide variety of instructional design models describing the ID process created for different situations and settings (as cited in Gustafson & Branch, 2002b; Ryder, 2006). The purpose of the instructional design models offer both educational and training organizations design steps, management guidelines and teamwork collaboration options with designers, technicians and clients (Gustafson & Branch, 2002a). Lpg Gas Detector Using Gsm Module

...CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION LPG consists of mixture of propane and butane which is highly flammable chemical. It is odourless gas due to which Ethanethiol is added as powerful odorant, so that leakage can be easily detected. We can detect the presence of dangerous LPG leakage in the cars, industrial sectors and residential premises using an Ideal Gas Sensor. We can easily integrate the LPG gas leakage detector unit into a unit that can sound an alarm or give a visual suggestion of the LPG concentration. The sensor used in this Project will have both admirable sensitivity and rapid response time. This sensor can also be used to sense other gases like iso-butane, propane, LNG and even cigarette smoke. The output of the sensor goes LOW as soon as the LPG sensor senses any gas leakage. This is detected by the microcontroller and the LED & buzzer are turned ON. After a delay of few milliseconds, the exhaust fan is also turned ON for throwing the gas out and a “GAS LEAKAGE” message is sent to a pre-defined mobile number using GSM Module. MQ-5 Semiconductor Sensor for Combustible Gas Sensitive material of MQ-5 gas sensor is SnO2, which with lower conductivity in clean air. When the target combustible gas exist, the sensors conductivity is Higher along with the gas concentration rising. We use simple electro-circuit, convert change of conductivity to correspond output signal of gas concentration. MQ-5 gas sensor has high sensitivity...

Accounting Challenges: a Global Perspective

...ACCOUNTING CHALLENGES: A Global Perspective Amber Welch May 17, 2014 BU481 Introduction Herbie Hancock once said, “Globalization means we have to re-examine some of our ideas, and look at ideas from other countries, from other cultures, and open ourselves to them. And that’s not comfortable for the average person”. Globalization pivots on the strength of the business behind it, the focused efforts by accounting and manageability of an industry of leadership, and standards that when faced with challenge, must meet the rising needs of the world. Born from the necessity of standardization, the hurdles of international business, and the wave pool that is the global economy, today, accounting at all levels faces challenges unlike any ever seen in history. To understand how to continue to move forward and face these challenges, it is important to first examine the standards in accounting, and to explore the differences in U.S. standards versus worldwide standards. To look at the development process and the governing bodies surrounding this change, and then examine what change will bring, and whether it is attainable. For continued growth, understanding the modern realm of international business and the changes being seen in accounting leadership as well as the growth of technology, and the mounting concern for ethics in the world environment is as vital as any other component. It is important to explore the economy of the United States versus the world, the impacts of...
