In To Kill a Mockingbird and the Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Atticus and Lord Capulet are both caring, but are still strict towards their daughters Scout and Juliet. Atticus cares about his daughter Scout, yet he still is not allowed to do certain stuff.After Scout had punched Cecil Jacobs, she got yelled at. (Lee.99) Cecil Jacobs stated at school “Scout Finch’s daddy defended niggrs” afterwards altho she defended him, Scout still is yelled at due to violence. Jem criticizes his sister Scout for trying to hang out with him all the time. Scout always has wanted to do stuff with her brother Jem, however, he is getting older and just wants time alone.(Lee 111) Calpernia stated “Mister Jem’s growing up, and he’s gonna want to be off by himself doing whatever boys do, so you just come by me when you're lonely”. Lord Capulet was happy for his daughter when she was going to marry Paris. ( 3.5.15) “ Wife go you go to bed;acquaint her here of my son Paris’ love and bid her (mark you me?) on Wednesday next--but soft!” Lord Capulet also does not talk bountiful with his daughter. When they do talk it is mostly the two arguing about something he will not let her do. ( 3.5.145) “Doth she not count her blest, Unworthy as she is, that we have wrought, So worthy a gentleman to be her bride?” Afterwards, when Juliet died, he felt grief and was very mad due to if he would not let her see Romeo whom she truly loved. He thought that if he were to let her see him, then Juliet could have still been alive.( 6.5.65) “Dead art thou-alack, my child is dead, and with that my child joys are buried”.
