If I were to find out that I only had 6 months left to live? That is something that most people would hope they don’t have to plan for. Me on the other hand, I am the kind of person that always thinks about the worst possible outcome of everything. Usually I will think of stuff like that situation while I am awaiting the results of a doctor’s visit. My father died young from Pancreatic Cancer, and it was the same way. He found out when he only had about a year left to live. My father was really sick really fast, so he didn’t really have a plan and I don’t think many people do. I don’t believe in making a real plan for my death because I am hoping that I can stay here as long as I can. But, in the case that I was to die in six month I would do the following. First, I would reassure that all of my life insurance policies and packages were up to date on who was getting what. After updating all of my insurance paperwork I would start lining out what bills got paid by what money coming from my insurance. I don’t want my family to be stressed over my bills at a time of grieving, so I would want to take care of that as much I can! After all of the paperwork junk is out the way, I would just want to spend time my family and friends as much as possible. I really don’t have a list of crazy stuff that I want to do before I go. I have always had it in plans to get married and have a great family and be happy. But, if I was to die in 6 months my plans would be shot. I am currently in a great relationship, but I wouldn’t want to marry just because I was dieing and that was a goal of mine. I couldn’t do that to her, it would hurt her more in the long run. That would be the only thing that would bring me down would be knowing that I never had a family of my own. I really can’t even imagine what I would do besides spending all of my time with my family and friends, and most of my...

The Contradiction of Business

...in the local economy. Two years of recession meant two years of poor loans, and First State fell into deep trouble. To limit and reduce overhead expenses, there were some extensive layoffs. A new executive management expected rapid, better results with fewer resources. Everyone at First State feared being fired even though the bank was inching back to improved profitability. There was still the pressure to “perform—or else.” Lucy Winters managed the six-person Spring Hill Branch for First State. Spring Hill, fully equipped with an ATM and a freshly redesigned lobby, stood in the parking lot of a new suburban mall. The mall, anchored by a store from the largest grocery chain in the area, included about 20 different small retail stores. In addition, a major hospital was located just down the street, and a large manufacturing plant (with about 3,000 employees) was situated in a convenient, nearby industrial park. Many of the branch’s customers worked at those locations. Lucy was promoted to her current job about 18 months ago. She had been serving as an Assistant Manager at another branch in the region until that time. During the past year and a half, Lucy had learned her job as a manager well. She enjoyed her work and did an effective job. “I used to enjoy it, in any case,” she thought to herself. She was sitting at her desk at 6:00 p.m., looking at the night closing in. “I just wish I could leave here once before 5:30. These layoffs really hurt, the pressure is......

Blue Moon

...Blue Moon Tonight is a full astrological blue Moon. A blue Moon usually only occurs if it is the second one in a single month. This blue Moon is an astrological one because the Moon has been stuck in Leo and Aquarius since the last full Moon on July 22nd. It is what is called a seasonal blue Moon It will present the third of four full moons to fall in the same season. A season is defined as the period of time in between a solstice and an equinox – or vice versa. This full moon is the third of four full moons to take place in between the June 2013 solstice and the September 2013 equinox. That makes the August 2013 full Moon a Blue Moon! This Moon is also called the Sturgeon Moon or the Corn Moon. This Aquarius full Moon has an extra bit of creative magic with the Sun in Leo. The time is potent to follow our hearts to create new pathways. There is a simultaneous shedding and emerging as we focus to ground our visions into form. Some deep activations happening as well so we must move with the changes, allow what wants to come forth, and trust our inner knowing and guidance. ... The transportation time from Vancouver to the European DC is five weeks. The plant sends a weekly shipment of printers to Europe. Therefore, the lead time is L=1+5=6 weeks and review time T=1 week. Based on the data in Exhibit 13.14 in the textbook, we use Excel to calculate the average monthly demand (mean) and the standard deviation for each version of the printers (Exhibit 1). In order to calculate the standard deviation of demand over the review and the lead time, we use the formula below: σT+L=√((T+L)) σ2d Therefore, we can get σT+L for each version, which are listed in the exhibit 2. 1. Develop an inventory model for managing the DeskJet printers in Europe assuming that the Vancouver plant continues to produce the six models sold in Europe. Using the data in Exhibit 17.13, apply your model and calculate the expected yearly investment in DeskJet printer inventory in the Europe DC. Answer: 1. In order to calculate the yearly investment in DeskJet printers, we calculate the yearly investment of the printers separately and then add them together to get the total yearly cost. There are 6 versions of the printers, which are A, AA, AB, AQ, AU, AY. The total factory throughput time through the PCAT and FAT stages is about one week. The Moon

...The Moon is a vast, elegant, and mysterious celestial object of the sky. Although it doesn’t take an expert to measure the Moon, but everyone, who has some knowledge of the sky, is able to do this task. As an assignment for my Astronomy 100 class, I had a choice of projects and chose the moon. The project had me find measurements of the position, phase, and the appearance of the moon. From my window adjacent to my bed, I made observations of the moon, but as the moon made its orbit around the Earth. I couldn’t see the moon from my current position, so occasionally I moved position from my bedroom window to the outside. The night is cool and grand, but never knowing the weather; the sky could be clear, cloudy, or raining, but I don’t think I had a rainy day, so I had perfect weather throughout. Cloudy days often happened, but the moon is bright and sometimes helped me locate the moon; on the other hand, I couldn’t see the moon so I had to use a website my professor provided us. Keeping up with the date and rarely skipping days, it was smooth and I was able to view the moon even if the weather and the appearance of the moon changed over time. Beginning on October 27, 2014 to November 17, 2014 while some days where skipped. I was able to see a Waxing crescent, first quarter, Waxing gibbous, Waning gibbous, Waning crescent, and especially a Full Moon on November 6, 2014, and about becoming less to more brighter or vice-versa, but the intervals from New to Full moon was zero. ...

Implementing Six Sigma

...history of Six-Sigma The roots of Six Sigma as a measurement standard go back to Carl Frederick Gauss (1777-1885) who introduced the concept of normal curve. Six Sigma as a measurement standard in product variation can be traced back to the 1920´s when Walter Shewhart showed that three sigma, from the mean is the point where a process requires correction. As history would seem to have it, the beginnings of Six Sigma really come from 1979 when an exasperated Motorola executive named Art Sundry said, at a meeting, “The real problem at Motorola is that our quality stinks!”. Apparently, this statement led to series of activities that in turn led to the discovery of the crucial correlation between higher quality and lower development costs in manufacturing products of all kinds. The problem was that the common thought was that quality initiatives simply cost too much money. What Motorola realized is that if these initiatives were done right, improving quality would actually reduce costs. Motorola decided to take the approach that high quality products should actually cost less to produce. Motorola reasoned that the highest quality producer should be the lowest cost producer. THEORETICAL ANALYSIS OF THE CONCEPT OF SIX-SIGMA What is Six-Sigma Six-Sigma has at least three different meanings depending upon the context; there is not one answer to what is Six-Sigma. The first answer to what is Six-Sigma is that it is a management philosophy. Six-Sigma is a......
