Advertisements are one of the many forms of images we see everyday but what sets them apart from most other is that there is a very prominent purpose to them and this purpose is to sell a product to as many consumers as possible. In America many of these advertisements attempt to represent the idea of the American Dream. The American Dream is a representation of success that any American can find if they just work hard enough. One advertisement that misrepresents this type of success is a Skyy Vodka advertisement that on the surface just shows two upper class individuals enjoying some vodka. It portrays messages of misogyny and classism whether it intends to or not and this creates the inaccurate image of the American Dream. The details that show this is how the only person completely shown is the woman who is wearing an expensive and revealing dress/night gown with super high heels while the man is sitting hidden in an expensive chair with only his suit pants and fancy shoes and the cuffs of his expensive suit jacket are visible. The sexualizing is standard but the even deeper misogyny comes into the fact that the woman is shown tending to the man's need of a cocktail he sits comfortably while she gets a drink for him. This image is reminiscent of older vintage ads that that showed women being subservient to the needs of their husbands as being a normal part of American society misrepresenting that part of the American Dream and success is having an attractive wife who will tend to your every
