My room transforms into a sorrow place, with a loud screeching noise coming from a dark shadow shaped figure twitching along the walls. While I feel a heavy pressure pushing me closer to my bed, I then notice a demonic creatures sitting on my chest leaving me helpless for I cant move my limbs, nor could I scream for help. This was the most freighting experience I ever encountered. It is said that everyone experiences sleeping paralysis at least once in his or her lifetime. With personal experiences with sleeping paralysis, and extended research on the subject, I’m going to tell you what sleeping paralysis is, symptoms, causes, and how it can be treated.

Causes of paralysis sleeping are a lack of sleep stage structure. Sleep paralysis is most common among teenager, young adults, because of their erratic sleep schedule. Denise L. notes that sleep is often affected by physical or emotional stress, and although the majority of sleep complaints can be traced to psychosocial stress, sleep disturbance can be an important feature of many serious physical or psychological problems as well. Complaints about sleep are also very common with psychiatric illnesses, especially anxiety disorders and mood disorders, and they also occur in some forms of psychosis . Sleep disruption can be an important indicator of substance abuse. The most obvious case is the abuse of stimulants, such as caffeine or amphetamines, but alcohol abuse can also interfere with sleep, as can the abuse of sedatives. (Schmutte 3061) The quality and quantity of sleep are important indicators of overall health. Although there is not a 100% cure to sleeping paralysis, I will tell you how it can be
