Many people start smoking because their friends and family members do- it is a social event. However, people get addicted to smoking, so it is difficult to quit. Many companies have introduced what is called E-cigarettes, which are considered less effective on people’s health, but people can get addicted even to E-cigarettes. People think that E-cigarettes are better than the regular cigarettes, and they will be better for their health, relationships, and the environment.
E-cigarettes are better than regular cigarettes for everyone’s health. E-cigarettes do not contain as much nicotine as regular cigarettes. Regular cigarettes have a lot of nicotine and lead to a lot of health issues such as lung cancer. Regular cigarettes are also very hard to quit even if a person gets sick from them. People use E-cigarettes to quit smoking because they have less nicotine than the regular ones, and could help them quit faster (Better Health Channel 2011).
E-cigarettes are better for relationships. For example, if a person smokes and his partner does not smoke, his partner will be offended or repulsed by the smell of the smoker. Smokers also affect other partners, friends, and family members. Smoking E-cigarettes however will not affect other people, as they do not have a bad smell such as regular cigarettes do (Escobar 2014).
The environment is being affected by a lot of things. One of them is regular cigarettes and their smoke. Cigarettes smoke contains more than 40.000 types of chemicals. When people smoke regular cigarettes in public, they affect the environment by the smoke and toxic that is released from burning their cigarettes. Other people, children, animals who are sitting around smokers in public can get affected too. On the other hand, E-cigarettes can be smoked even in public, and they do not affect the environment nor other people.
In conclusion, E-cigarettes are

Cigarette Smoking

...Cigarette Smoking Elsie Mar HCS/457 February 16, 2015 Lindsay Cogan Cigarette Smoking Cigarette smoking has been documented as the leading cause of preventable illness and death in the United States. Smoking kills nearly 500,000 people each year, thus leaving many individuals with severe health problems, ultimately resulting in serious illnesses. While tobacco use remains an issue; public policies and education have been implemented to help discourage the use of smoking in our society. It was not until the 1960’s when the Surgeon General of the United States reported that cigarette smoking was a health hazard ("History And Economics Of Tobacco", n.d.). However, in the 1980’s is when the local, federal, and state governments and businesses started taking action to prevent people from smoking in public places. In the past, people were able to smoke in stores, offices, and restaurants, thus not realizing its health dangers, especially exposing second-hand smoke to others. Today, smoke-free laws have been enacted at the state and local level to protect the health of the public in and around businesses, increase pricing and taxes, and by making it less accessible for youths to purchase tobacco products ("History And Economics Of Tobacco", n.d.).  For example, people cannot smoke within 20 feet of a business establishment and indoors to fully protect non-smokers against the involuntary exposure to second hand smoke. In addition, by raising the prices on tobacco products...

Cigarette Smoking

...Cigarette Smoking The effects of cigarette smoking can be horrifying. Smoking is dangerous not only to those who smoke, but to non-smokers and unborn children as well. Cigarette smoking is also physically and socially harming. The large particles in cigarette smoke, commonly known as "tar", collect in the branching points of the lungs. The tar contains carcinogenic compounds that increase the risk of lung cancer. The small particles in cigarette smoke, including carcinogens, irritants, and corrosive chemicals, collect in the small air sacs in the lungs called cilia, and damage them. These air sacs are where the blood absorbs oxygen from the air. When the small particles from the cigarette smoke are absorbed into the blood stream and transported to other parts of the body, they include a variety of diseases. The smoke from a burning cigarette is a mixture of hot gasses and different sized particles that fills the air with over 4000 chemicals, including 43 carcinogens and over 400 other toxins (Glantz & Daynard, 1991). One of the gasses emitted by cigarettes is carbon monoxide, a colorless and odorless poison. By attaching to hemoglobin, the carbon monoxide lessens the blood’s ability to carry oxygen. There are many effects of cigarette smoking on the actual smoker. They include lung cancer and other cancers, cardiovascular malfunctions, strokes, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema. Cigarette smoking may even lead to changes in the smoker’s appearance such as early wrinkling...

The Effects of Cigarettes Smoking

...Cigarette Smoking 1 The effects of cigarette smoking on the American public are of significant concern in America. This effect is harmful to the body’s major organs, causing many diseases and generally alters the health and life of smokers. There is considerable different health risk, which result in diseases and changes in the Larynx with elevated levels of stress in the vocal area (Guimaraio and Abberton, 2005). Lung cancer is only one of the diseases associated with smoking cigarettes. The diagnosis of lung cancer risk increases due to the number of cigarettes a person smokes over time. The use of tobacco, principally cigarette smoking, in America, is the lone most preventable cause of death. A person smoking at least two packs of cigarettes per day would have what, doctors call a smoker with a history of 20 packs year. While a smoker with a history of 20 packs, risk of lung cancer, increases, the same is less in a cigarette smoker, having a history of 10 packs per year. A smoker with a history of smoking 30 packs a year or more risk developing lung cancer at a higher rate. Approximately one in seven who smoke two or more packs of cigarettes a day will die from...

Cigarette Smoking Should Not Be Banned

...Bethany Johnson Racquel Smith ENC 1101 10/21/2014 Cigarette Smoking Should Not Be Banned Every time one of those anti-smoking commercials come on tv, it’s always questionable about how people can still continue to smoke after seeing something so graphic. Especially the one where the woman is in the bathroom, and her face starts to basically peel off. So gross! Why would someone still want to smoke, knowing that it completely destroys their body? Maybe, because people know that those commercials are just scare tactics, and that someone’s face is not literally going to peel off from smoking. Smoking, just like drinking, or even driving, is risky, but it’s also a choice. They would never ban driving, even after all of the deaths caused every day. They definitely wouldn’t try banning alcohol again, even after all the deaths it still causes. So, why should they ban smoking? Smoking is a personal choice(Jeffery, 2). It doesn’t alter the state of mind like drugs or alcohol(contrary to what some people may say). If anything, the only person being harmed, is the person inhaling the smoke. Cigarettes don’t only contain toxins. They contain nicotine, which isn’t harmful, but is very addictive, just like caffeine, and there are millions of people out there who are definitely more addicted to their morning coffee or soda than there are people who smoke cigarettes. Smoking can be harmful, but usually in only excessive amounts, just like junk 2 food, or soda, or anything else in...

Effects of Taxation on Cigarette Smoking

...Effects of Taxation on Cigarette Smoking In economics the demand elasticity refers to the sensitivity of the quantity demand for a product to the changes in price. This relationship correlates to the basic law of demand which states that if the price of a product or good increase, then the consumer demand would fall and decrease because of the change. However not all products follow this fundamental theory. In fact products that are considered addictive substances, such as tobacco and cigarettes can be the exception to this basic law because we must take into account not just the pricing but other factors such as time, usage, limitations, and restrictions. Imposing higher taxes on cigarettes will have a mix effect as to who the price increase affects. As noted in the Chaloupka article, “The effects of prices and tobacco”, paying higher taxes on cigarettes as well as placing stronger controls as to who is able to purchase them will lead to a reduction in the consumption of cigarette smoking. The article is supported by studies done in the early eighties and late ninnies, confirming the reduction is towards both adults and youths alike. However price sensitivity is significant in its responsiveness between youths and young adults than compared to adults; up to three times more sensitive. Some reasons as to why this may be, is due to the strict regulations and laws set by states and local governments that enforce and control the purchase of tobacco products to the consumer...

...Should Cigarette Smoking be Made Illegal? Name Institution Date A cigarette is a small cylinder like filled with cut tobacco leaves and rolled in a paper and ignited for smoking. In most countries, tobacco smoking is legal due to the businesses motives and also the people who are addicted. They cannot do without it. It has immense consequences, and it should, therefore, be illegal from the effects to the smokers, passive smokers and all the human beings due to the pollution of the environment. The following are some of the consequences from smoking tobacco: Smoking tobacco has no healthy benefit due to the diseases it brings to the smoker. The continued smoking leads to high risk of lung cancer, heart attacks, blood clots, browning of teeth and makes the breath and clothes to stink. These diseases especially the lung cancer has led to so many deaths of the cigarettes smokers and hence the making of the smoking illegal should greatly help in the decrease of these deaths. The smokers also cause these effects to the non-smokers (passive smokers) and they become victims of the same diseases especially to close members of the family and the pregnant women to the unborn where they are born unhealthy hence the cigarette smoking should be made illegal (Nelson,2012). During the 1920s the first medical report proved that smoking causes many health risks. A series of major medical tests had proved that tobacco caused MANY diseases. The Negative Effects of Smoking Cigarettes

...Why Smoking Cigarettes Should Be Considered a Drug Mathew Wright ECPI University Why Smoking Should Be Considered a Drug Smoking cigarettes was once viewed as fashionable throughout the majority of the last century. Smoking was glamorized with beautiful woman though history. The most iconic is Marilyn Monroe. Others such as the Marlboro man who was a handsome cowboy on his steed, and I still haven’t forgotten the smooth stylish camel that could bring the cool to any party. Those times are long behind us now as we have become aware of the significant risks in smoking cigarettes. With nearly twenty percent of the United States’ population currently smoking, it is clear that this recreational habit has become an epidemic (American Cancer Society, 2011). However, I believe that even with mandated health risks printed on packages, countless numbers of anti-smoking ads on billboards, and the spamming of our television sets since 1998, individuals still refuse to kick the habit. With cigarettes being extremely addictive and the majority of smokers are not considerate to others, I believe cigarettes should be considered a drug. I hope discussing these three negative effects of cigarette smoking will help to re-evaluate a person’s stance on this completely legal drug; realizing that smoking is a bad decision for everyone. Besides the obvious possibility of death, one should be concerned with the likelihood of lung cancer, a diminished physical appearance, and the inadvertent...

Cigarette Smoking Needs Regulation in Public Places

...Cigarettes are the single-most traded item on the planet, with approximately 1 trillion being sold from country to country each year. At a global take of more than $400 billion, it’s one of the world’s largest industries (Listverse, 2011). Cigarette smoking in public places is a widely controversial topic. Many people are unaware of the actual history of smoking bans. People are also unaware who is affected by smoking regulation in public places, the effects on society, why it is important to solve the problem of cigarette smoking in public places in concern to regulation, and possible solutions that are out in the world to help solve this problem. The first known smoking ban occurred in 1590 and was given by Pope Urban VII during his short reign as pope. Anyone who was caught smoking or chewing tobacco near a church was excommunicated. It was not until the twentieth century that the health problems associated with tobacco use came to light in the public eye. This is the time when businesses provided smokers with their own separate locations, so they could smoke without exposing the rest of the customers to the dangers and annoyance of smoke (Reasons, pros, and cons, 2008). In the 1990s, California became the first state to issue a smoking ban, and this was in restaurants. Since that time, many cities have taken up the drive to ban cigarette smoking in public locations, particularly restaurants. In fact, recent estimates show that as many as thirty-four states have cities...
