So I started in this program where I was supposed to do lessons for an hour and then free ride for another hour. But I thought I knew what I was doing. So I skipped lessons, and by the end of the night I had fallen so many times I couldn’t sit down the next day. So I ended up continuing that year but actually went to my lessons. Along with these similarities, there are also many differences. As a ski instructor I have been able to collect a lot of knowledge on skiing and snowboarding. Both options are viable, and I have done both forms of riding but one of the two is better. If I were to choose between the two options I would choose skiing over snowboarding because of the forward orientated stance, the safety of the boots and the extra edges that help to make sharper turns. Skis and snowboards both have metal edges that are on the outside of the board or ski, these make it possible to turn and maneuver through the snow. If these edges get chipped or damaged in any way it makes it more difficult to turn and gives the rider a less enjoyable experience. It is easier to keep the edges of ski sharper because it is possible to maneuver and pick up the ski and keep them away from things like rocks and stumps. Another plus side to skiing is that Skis have four edges, this allows a skier to make sharper turns because they have two edges in the ground at all times. Similarly, Snowboards have edges too but they only have two edges which makes it harder to maneuver through tighter spices.
