In response, President Kennedy issued Executive Order 10925 in 1961, creating a Committee on Equal Employment Opportunity and mandating that projects financed by federal funding would “take affirmative action” to ensure that hiring and employment practices were free of racial bias (Hudson). Two more executive orders in 1965 and 1968 prohibited discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, and gender, giving the federal government the power to enforce this prohibition (Hudson). However, in current times, affirmative action programs have suffered setbacks. Affirmative action in education has been abolished in Texas by court order, and in California and Washington it has been terminated by public referendum (Bybee). ...Collective Action for Social Movements Rosa Parks gained the title “mother of the civil rights movement” when she refused to give up her bus seat to a white person (Loeb, 2010, p. 1). This was not Parks’ first involvement in a social movement. Before this event, Parks had been involved with her local NAACP chapter for 12 years. While attending a training camp on civil rights, Parks learned about a bus boycott by a Montgomery woman that occurred the previous spring. I was having issues with a hotel I couldn’t go to the hotel but it was past the time frame to cancel the reservation with the hotel. What had happened hotels.com tried to refund me the money but due to the hotels policy they wouldn’t refund me so hotels.com gave me a 25$ coupon to use next time for a hotel credit of my choice to use. Another time I used was with AT&T when I purchased my new phone with them. It was different doing that but it was nice how they where live chatting with me and I could ask them any question about the phone service and they could help assist me. I personally would like to talk to a person at a store or on the phone but I guess it’s nice to have if u likes it like that. There was one other time I used a chat feature with Apple.com I was having issues with my MacBook Pro and it was really nice I had to chat with them for about 40 min and when I was working with them they had the best chat feature it was nice cause they actually got into my computer also. Its strange how technology is now. But when I chatted with them they fixed the issue it took awhile but it got fixed. I had some adware that was locking up my computer and they fixed the issue and it was all solved in about 30 to 40 min.
