A former third-grade student of mine, I will call her Megan, was diagnosed with ASD at a young age and presented with behavior difficulties very early on. By the time she reached third grade she continued to have difficulty with shouting out, interrupting, and transitioning in a timely manner. All three of these behaviors were quite disruptive to the learning/teaching environment at times. Megan performed well academically but her relationships with her peers often suffered. She disrupted the learning environment on several occasions making it difficult for others to complete their work successfully.
In order to address these behaviors, I met with Megan’s mom, the school counselor, the special education teacher, as well as her teacher

...strategies and responses to help and support children and young people. For example if an individual’s self-esteem, confidence and resilience is low there become more vurable and at target for abuse. Whereas if a child or a young person has high self-esteem they will confident and less likely to be a target of abuse they are more likely to be talkative and notice that they are becoming a target of abuse. A child or young person with low self-esteem will be vulnerable as they are less likely speak out. To address this health and social care professionals should make the individuals feel valued and the child or young person should be aware and reminded of the qualities they have. This strategy would be appropriate in some situations but not others for example if an individual is beginning to act out at school this could be a clear sign there self esteem is quite low as they are putting a front on rather than showing weakness, by addressing this low self esteem individuals will begin to feel better about them self and express there feelings. The more we work on an individual self esteem the less likely they are to be abuse or to be passive when being abused. Another strategy used to help children and young people is sharing information that is appropriate. Guiding children and young people to share the correct responsible information which will protect children from exploitation and abuse for example children and young people need to be aware of their bodies and what the function...

Justification Report

...Justification Report Name Course Tutor Date Justification report Assignment 2.1- Justification Report(Part 1) Problem statement The main problem that employees face in Carnival Cruise Line Company is a hostile environment. This hostile environment in Carnival Cruise Line Company is also a form of harassment. A good number of other employees in Carnival Cruise Line Company normally think that issues that bring about the hostile environment in the workplace include; bosses who are irresponsible, rude coworkers, privileges, benefits, the lack of perks, work environment that is unpleasant and even recognition. In most cases, to consider the workplace hostile, some lawful standards and policies are supposed to be met. The creation of this hostility in the work environment is mostly done by the boss or a colleague whose behavior, actions, and communications makes it impossible to perform the responsibilities of the workplace or the organization. With the traits portrayed by the coworkers and the employers, it can be concluded that he traits are responsible for changing the terms and conditions or the anticipations of the conducive and comfortable work environment for all employees. Moreover, in order for a work environment to be considered hostile, the traits and actions should show unfairness. An example is where an employee posts nude images or says sexual and explicit jokes is termed as guilty of harassing a fellow employee sexually (Mann & Goodman 2008)....

Pushing Paper Can Be Fun

...promotions are determined by seniority, not the quality of paperwork. Officers were trained to perform street work, not fill out forms. Arrests, not paperwork, get noticed. Conviction success is due to too many factors to be a performance criterions. 1. What performance problem is the captain trying to correct? The main problem in this case is poor police reporting of incidents, as well as the resulting lost cases in court. 2. Use the MARS model of individual behavior and performance to diagnose the possible causes of the unacceptable behavior. Motivation. There are several facts that suggest that the poor paperwork is due to lack of motivation. First, officers come into this profession because they want to work with the public and catch criminals, not sit in an office filling out reports. Thus, the paperwork task does not fulfill their needs for personal growth. Second, social rewards (praise, recognition) result from the outside activities, not paperwork. Third, financial rewards do not encourage people to do paperwork. Promotions are based on seniority , so they motivate officers to stay with the force, not to complete paperwork. Competitions do not work, either. Ability. It is not certain that officers able to complete the paperwork task well enough. They do not seem to receive any training in this area. However the captain’s discussion of the report competition suggests that at least some officers are able to perform this task well enough. Role Perceptions...

Describe the Roles and Responsibilities of Personnel in Relation to Infection Prevention and Control in a Health or Social Care Setting

...to infection prevention and control in a health or social care setting In every Health and social care setting, each person has a certain responsibility. Each care worker should be responsible for their own actions with regard to protecting themselves and others from infection. Throughout this essay I will be discussing the roles and responsibilities of care and non-care workers, managers and specialist personnel. In every work place there should be policies set in place. These policies come from the law and make reference to the standard that is legally required in a health and social care setting. These include Fire Escape plans, Health and Safety policies and Infection Control policies. It is the managers responsibility to provide relevant policies to the workplace such as the ones listed above, update these policies regularly, and make these policies accessible to staff. The procedures set in place are a step by step guide which shows the staff exactly what should be done. For example disposal of sharps and a fire procedure which is pictured below. It is all of the staff’s responsibility to know where the policies are, understand them and be able to follow the procedures. It is also necessary for all staff to follow basic hygiene rules such as washing hands appropriately and regularly using the 6 step hand washing technique which is pictured below. It is also the Care staff, for example nurses’ duty to report to their manager and inform other staff under RIDDOR...

Sexual Harrasment at Workplace

...harassment differs from person to person and depends on the severity of the incidence, but in all the cases is affects the well-being of a person and environment of an organization negatively. This form of intimidation is not new in Australian workplace. NSW Tribunal Observation says that “a person is sexually harassed if he or she is subjected to unsolicited and unwelcome sexual conduct by a person who stands in a position of power in relation to him or her”. [O’Callaghan v Loder (no 2) [1983] 3 NSW LR 89 at 92] The Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth) makes sexual harassment unlawful. Sexual harassment continues to be a gender issue where one third of the women have experienced some kind of harassment from the age of 15 compared to one in ten men. (AHRC 2008 National Survey finidings) Nearly one in five complaints received by the Australian Human Rights Commission under theSex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth) relate to sexual harassment. The vast majority of these take place in the workplace.2 (Australian Human Rights Commission, 'Annual Report 2006-2007') A telephone poll commissioned by the Commission in 2003 found that over 28 per cent of women had experienced sexual harassment in the workplace, compared to seven per cent of men. Less than one third of interviewees from the Commission's telephone survey who experienced sexual harassment in the workplace made a formal report or complaint about the sexual harassment.
