Solutions to Communication Problems
Introduction
Organizations and institutions are bound to suffer from severe communication problems from time to time. It is widely accepted that communication constitutes the lifeblood of any organization and, therefore, any organization that experiences a breakdown in communication is not likely to live very long since numerous problems will arise that will ultimately cripple the organization and cause it to die (Carpentier 64). Therefore, according to Alper, Dean, and Kenneth, it is important that no effort be spared in resolving organizational conflicts and communication problems as soon as possible (636). Through proper communication skills, solutions can be found. This literature review provides a discourse on the solutions to communication problems within organizations.
Causes of Communication Problems A review of literature on solutions to communication problems would not be complete without giving a brief overview of the causes and examples of these problems. Poor communication in organizations can occasion poor relations between members, thereby creating an inhospitable work environment that renders workers ineffective and inefficient (Katz and Linda 396). Some frequently cited causes of poor communication include unclear goals, language barriers, cultural diversity, poor leadership, personal issues, lack of feedback, and demoralization of employees within the organization.
Solutions to Communication Problems According to McIntosh, Richard, and Jeffery, communication issues in the workplace can lead to reduced productivity among employees, thereby negatively affecting organizational bottom line (135). In the absence of effective communication, organizations and teams are unable to exchange critical information required in routine operations. Therefore, understanding the causes of communication...

Of late, Global Communications has witnessed a sharp decline of its stock prices and are facing problems with their employees concerning the outsourcing of jobs. The goal of this paper is to identify Global Communications problems and provide them with solid solutions as courses of action. These actions will be achieved by applying the Nine-Step Decision-Making Model and various other concepts discussed throughout this course. The Nine-Step Decision-Making Model consists of the following items: 1. Describe the Situation-This can take time, but is well worth the effort. Individuals involved in this part of the process must understand the context of the problem. 2. Frame the "Right" Problem-This stage is also challenging. Individuals are often encounter difficulties in trying to determine the true problem needing to be addressed. Working to frame the “right” problem is also challenging because it forces team members to be clear and concise about the situation that needs to be addressed. 3. Describe the "End-State" Goals-The focus of problem solving is the solution, not the problem statement, which may be thought of as the means to the end. The “end state” is the ultimate goal of...

...Challenges and Solution of Business Communication Successful businesses use a variety of communication methods to keep people informed and processes operating smoothly. Those business owners understand that communication is a continuous process and watch for hurdles that can pop up at any point to get in the way of clear, accurate, timely, effective communication with employees, customers and the public. By knowing what to look for you can take steps to prevent obstacles and resolve issues quickly when they do arise. Diversity Every person has a unique frame of reference that filters how they view the world. Differences in age, gender, ethnicity, religion and other factors all create different points of view. Diversity helps work teams bring more solutions to the table. But those filters can also cause the receivers to interpret messages differently than the sender intended or create different expectations. Distance Businesses must find ways to keep communication channels open with people who are away from the office, such as a remote sales force or people who work from home. Some companies deliver information to mobile devices or schedule regular meetings so employees can anticipate and schedule their trips and sales calls around them. The challenges are even greater for companies that do business globally. Cross-cultural communication adds different languages, business norms, distance and time zones to the equation. Technology Email, social media, the web and mobile......

Yet the stockholders are giving them a lot of pressure to correct the problem. They need to offer better services than what their competitors are providing to their customers. This paper will discuss the background, the problem, the end goals, alternative solutions, risk assessment, the optimal solution, and lastly the implementation plan. Situation Background (Step 1) The total telecommunications industry has collapsed into hardship due to the Cable Companies inflowing the competition but Global Communications has been hit hard with not just the improved competition but smaller profit margins, the costs of doing business, and have realized that they need a new tactical plan, but will need help in implementing this. The problem is not actually noticeable, as one may think. It is easy to say that there is a substantial amount of competition and blame outside entities for their anguishes. In the long run, the real issue is GC's incompetence to successfully compete with new companies in the market (i.e. cable companies). Often this is the minor to a failure to discriminate their services from those of the competitors. It echoes as if their......
