... “As a woman in this day & age, I am in a position to ask a man what can you do for me that I can’t do for myself? I pay my own bills. I take care of my household without the help of any man…or woman for that matter. I am in the position to ask, ‘What can you bring to the table?’” The man looked at her. Clearly he thought that she was referring to money. She quickly corrected his thought & stated, “I am not referring to money. I need something more. I need a man who is striving for excellence in every aspect of life.” He sat back in his chair, folded his arms, & asked her to explain. She said, “I need someone who is striving for excellence mentally because I need conversation & mental stimulation. I don’t need a simple-minded man. I need someone who is striving for excellence spiritually because I don’t need...

Character Sketch: Tobias Eaton

...Character Sketch: Tobias Eaton In Veronica Roth’s Insurgent, Tobias Eaton or “Four”, as he is otherwise referred to, is intelligent, loving and strong. He is intelligent both in love and in warfare. Tobias proves his intelligence when he gives Tris, his girlfriend, an ultimatum. She continuously throws herself into situations where she acts recklessly by risking her life and Tobias will have none of it. He grows so tired of her behaviour that he says to her, “You are a sixteen-year-old girl who doesn’t understand that the value of a sacrifice lies in its necessity, not in throwing your life away! And if you do that again, you and I are done” (260). Tobias is able to identify the signs of someone who can potentially hurt him. He knows that if something awful happens to Tris, he will be affected as well, so in order to prevent himself from possible heartbreak, he warns his girlfriend. The fact that he sees value in life shows his intelligence. Tobias’ actions toward his partner also exhibit that he has an affectionate side. He cares enough about her that he is willing to subtly threaten her if she does not stop trying to destroy herself. Tobias constantly tells Tris how much she means to him and performs a series of romantic gestures. As the two of them get ready for combat, Tris tells Tobias that she is unable to fire a weapon, but all he says back to her is, “Hey. You have done more for this faction than any other person. You...you’re the bravest person I’ve ever met. Stay......

...-One Walking into school after months of not showing up was like walking into a nightmare. I forgot the smell and the peeling paint and the tiled floor. I forgot how the people talk and walk and stare. But being here again, it comes back in huge explosive waves. I feel sick. All I’ve been feeling lately is sick. I search for my locker. All the numbers are wrong, jumbled and unreadable. Asking would mean something is clearly wrong. I hold onto all my books, my backpack pressing hard on my shoulders. The bell rings and it is louder than I remember. I clench my teeth. The sounds resembles nails on a chalkboard, at least to me it does. Every day for two months I went to history class at this time in Mrs. Waters’ room. And now, I have no idea where it is. “Edith,” a girl’s voice says. I turn. “Yeah,” I say to Clara. Clara is the sweetest person on the planet. For the longest time I thought she was super fake because how can someone be that nice all the time. But she just is. “You have Waters still, right?” “Yeah,” I say. She loops her arm around mine. “I’m glad they didn’t change it.” “Me too,” but I don’t really care. Pulling me around corners and through different hallways we end up in history class. The room looks familiar, but a faraway familiar. Like a dream or déjà vu. She sits in the front row right next to the teacher’s desk. I escape to the back, the corner, right next to the window. Clara looks around and then moves to the seat in front of me. “I get it,”......

...The Best Way to Go Green in Hawaii This essay is to present and support my claim that the best way to go green in Hawaii is by using solar power as the energy source. Using solar power in Hawaii is very effective due to Hawaii’s sunny weather. My first and strongest reason is because there is no use of fossil fuels to make energy, which would release carbon dioxide. Secondly, solar power is renewable because the sun’s energy will not run out. This claim is significant because solar energy is the best alternative for energy sources that rigorously impacts the environment positively, and it also helps people save money and the planet earth. My first and strongest reason is because there is no use of fossil fuels, so it doesn’t give off any pollutants in the environment. This reason is acceptable because fossil fuels give out pollutants that can harm the atmosphere. Fossil fuels create the infamous hole in the ozone layer, which is a layer that helps block harmful potentially-cancer-causing-rays from outer space. Furthermore, fossil fuels often contribute to the greenhouse effect by collecting smoke and pollution that acts as a sort of blanket around the Earth and warms it up. These examples are important because they show how dangerous fossil fuels can be for the environment. My second reason is that solar power is renewable due to the fact that the sun’s energy will never run out anytime in the future. There's an infinite amount of sunlight that can produce energy and the......

...MGM Advertising & Communications Services, Inc. Address: Ste. 1203 Galleria Corporate Center EDSA cor Ortigas Ave. Quezon City Manila Contact: Tere de Jesus - Garcia Email: Company description: MGM is a full service communications company that provides advertising, public relations, event planning & management, market research and other communications services to broad range of clients. Clients include Honda, Cathay Land, National Bookstore, Seaoil, JVC, Heinz, Lea & Perrins, Bridgestone. Dean Owen has been changing his business cards to say “President” for years now, so we thought we might as well make it official. MGM attempted to establish a new life for itself from the mid-1990s as a "mini-major" studio, operating more or less independently, but latterly with the financial and operational support of part-owners Sony Pictures and Comcast. That followed a long period of steady decline. In its golden age, MGM was the undisputed giant of the movie industry, with such hits as Gone With The Wind and Wizard of Oz. But the studio fell from grace in the 1950s before being gradually carved up by corporate raiders. In 1996, MGM bought back its independence and restored some of its lost glory. But it remained the smallest of the movie majors, heavily reliant on its back-catalogue and the periodic resurrection of its James Bond franchise. The company went into play in 2004, and was eventually acquired by a consortium of investors. However, this strategy......

...There are four contemporary approaches to management: sociotechnical systems theory, quantitative management, organizational behavior, and systems theory. The sociotechnical systems theory was first proven to the U.S. to be effective by the Japanese in the late 1980s, and it expresses that management should focus on making sure that they have well trained employees with the right tools and knowledge for the job. In this sense, the employees can put their heads together and produce innovative products in a productive manner, creating business success. However, quantitative management takes tides a different direction. It suggests that to be a successful business, you must use statistics and a form of visual modeling to influence management decision. This was proven to be effective when introduced to large corporations by military planners in solving the complex issues. Both ideas are arguable, yet there are still two more. Organizational behavior states that the way you treat your employees influence your company’s productivity, therefore its success. If you treat them poorly they’ll work poorly, and if you treat them like they’re motivated they’ll act motivated. Which will increase productivity. Yet, there is there is the systems theory that says bluntly that a business is nothing but an open system that turns inputs into outputs. Businesses are affected by and affect their environment therefore they are open systems, and management needs to be made on the contingencies......
