Government also hold most of the company's input which results in increase in price of the product and at the same time competitors, sell glass containers at lower prices because of which customers prefer to buy from those sellers. Manufacturing of glass containers is a continuous process and requires a lot of training. Working conditions near the glass furnace is very difficult because of immense heat and there are no fans in that area, which poses a problem for workers. Berlucchi Case

...Berlucchi Case Question 1: (1) Global market In 2006, 2,3 billion bottles of sparklers were produced worldwide .Italian companies produced 276 bottles of Italian spumante, from which the exported 135 million bottles. The exports increased by 15%, which were concentrated on a small number of countries. The success is based on price (average value of an exported bottle is 2,50€). The overall production of spumante grow form 250 million bottles to 276 million bottles in only 6 years. Berlucchi could benefit from the risng export rates and the emerging markets for sparkling wine like Japan or USA (2) Italian market Domestic production grew less than world production, but also increased in the last 6 years, both in charmat and traditional method. The Italian market is extremely seasonal. Nearly 53% of all Italian families consume spumante at least one time per year und they buy 2,6 bottles per capita per year. The two main distribution channels are retail groceries( (off-trade→domestic market) and HoReCa ( On-site consumption. Berluchhi could benefit from the growing market and their strong position in the market. A problem could be the high competition. (3) Individual distribution channels • Retail groceries: The spumante and champagne market decreased in the past year in retail, but not as heavy in HoReCa. The retail market is much bigger. Berlucchi could benefit on either focusing more on the HoReCa channel or expanding their market share in retail, but a threat could...

Cava

...During the trip on the Freixenet factory our guide has given us a lot of useful information such as some facts about Spanish Cava and how it is made. Actually, it is interesting that according to Spanish law, cava may be produced in eight wine regions: Aragon, the Basque Country, Castile and León, Catalonia, Extremadura, Navarra, Rioja or the Valencian Community. Freixenet is produced only in Catalonia. Like Champagne, Cava is produced in varying levels of sweetness, ranging from the dryest, brut nature, through brut, brut reserve, sec (seco), semisec (semiseco), to dolsec (dulce), the sweetest. Sparkling wines are made under the traditional method, or méthode Champenoise. With this method the effervescence is produced by secondary fermentation. After primary fermentation, blending and bottling, a second alcoholic fermentation occurs in the bottle. As the name suggests, this is used for the production of Champagne, but is slightly more expensive than the Charmat process. The “Méthode Champenoise” involves allowing the wine to continue fermenting in the bottle for a period of time (months to years). The bottles are slanted down, so the yeasts eventually settled in the neck of the bottle. When the wine is ready, the bottles are kept in this position with the yeasts at the neck. Through several different processes, the neck of the bottle is frozen (only a few inches of the wine inside at the neck which contains the yeast). Then, with the yeasts trapped in a short plug...

Carlsberg Diversification

...1. Considerations to be taken into account by Carlsberg Malaysia in the event of diversification in producing non – alcoholic carbonated drinks in Malaysia. Carlsberg Malaysia is embarking on diversifying its product range by producing non-alcoholic carbonated drinks with a prospect of a return in investment (ROI) in the 12% range. Two areas of considerations should be looked into if Carlsberg Malaysia wants to proceed with this diversification program. 1st Method Firstly, Carlsberg could emulate the methodology employed by its competitor, Guiness, the producer of Malta non-alcoholic drink, by using existing manufacturing facilities, distributor outlets, handling equipment and sharing the same inventory listings in their production. Hence, gaining halal certification is extremely doubtful and the Muslim market could not be penetrated. Carlsberg could however benefitted from the exemption of paying excise duties and ad valorem tax. Furthermore they could display their new product at all non-alcoholic beverage counters in the market. 2nd Method Secondly, Carlsberg could embark on a totally new marketing strategy of its product by giving importance to ensure that the product is syariah compliance and certified halal by the Islamic regulators. This is to allow Carlsberg to gain an immediate access to the Muslim market, which in size and numbers are much bigger. However Carlsberg should be more conscious of the general perception linking the word Carlsberg to alcohol which...

Criminal Justice

... I have never put much thought into how glass could be used in the criminal justice field but it plays a very important more than you could believe. In the following paper we will discuss the history of glass, how to locate, collect, identify, and compare samples of glass. The very first glass know to man was called obsidian, which was black volcanic glass; this glass was used to make weapons and decorative objects. Obsidian glass was dated back 3500BC in Egypt and Eastern Mesopotamia. People of the Stone Age used naturally occurring glass which formed when strikes sand lightning and by volcanic eruptions as a result of high temperature when certain types of rocks melt. Parsons Challenge

...For the Parsons Challenge we were asked to look into a subject that is overlooked in our everyday life. When I was thinking about the subject of being “over looked” windows came to mind. A window is a space that you look through, created by a sheet of glass. The glass of a window is a transparent clean surface to allow vision to another space, while not being in it. I thought that windows are overlooked because they are meant to be looked through. So, I focused in on glass and was looking at the windows that I encounter in my daily life. The idea of a window is a clear transparent space to see through. Windows are meant to be kept clean so, it can fulfill its job of being a space to see out of. What made me inspired were the windows of my Jeep Liberty. In the winter, long streaking white stains start to plaster on top of the window surface, obstructing the view through the window. It was an interesting concept for me to realize that windows in reality are not actually clean or perfect. I always thought of windows in an ideal manner. These stains on the window conflicted with what I imagined a window would be,clean and almost unnoticed. These stains changed the space of the window that they laid on. Something that was once overlooked is manipulated to be something to look at. I turned this concept into three pieces of art that, show stains in new way. The stains on the windows are photographed, then traced onto tracing paper, and finally onto a frosted vinyl plastic. On...

...flavor. Tuna-3 Temp-4 Spicy Lobster-2 (spiciness-2 glasses) Sushi Popo Atmosphere-casual, but still well decorated Overall-C+ Total Price-$23.50 While Sushi Popo’s tuna roll was very average, it’s tempura roll struggled. The roll took risks, adding in cream cheese and a decidedly un-sweet sauce. Neither of these worked well. The cream cheese’s mushy texture clashed with the crispiness of the tempura, and the sauce was lacking in flavor. Their specialty, the Autumn roll (crabmeat, avacado, and cream cheese rolled in crispy tempura and fried veggies), suffered from the same problem. It’s sauce was very similar to the tempura’s, and none of the other ingrediants were strong enough to make up for it. Tuna-2.5 Temp-2 Autumn-2.5 (1/2 glass) Jade Sisters Atmosphere-very casual Overall-B- Total Price-$18.18 Jade Sisters features some surprisingly solid sushi. While average rice and fish prevent the sushi from being anything special, there was not a whole lot to complain about. The tempura roll featured a nice little sweet sauce, and the tuna roll featured some surprisingly tasty fish. The specialty roll, the caterpillar (shrimp tempura, cream cheese and cucumber with a special house sauce) featured a very tasty sauce, although it suffered from having too much cream cheese. Cream cheese is an ingrediant that should never have more than a supporting role in a sushi roll, but this cream cheese was a little overwhelming....
