Use SPSS to compute the mean, median, standard deviation, and standard error of the mean for the following set of data. Report your results in an APA-style table of descriptive statistics.
| |Score |
| | |
|Group 1 |4 4 5 6 4 |
| | |
|Group 2 |2 4 4 3 4 |
| | |
|Group 3 |6 4 4 5 6 |

One of the first things you needed to do was figure out how to enter the data. Remember, on the SPSS data spreadsheet, rows contain cases, and columns contain variables. So, how many variables to we have. Certainly Score is a variable. Are there any other variables? Some careful thinking (also spending some time working through the various tutorials available) should have lead you to a realization that we need a group identifying variable, Group, say.

So, the first thing I do, after starting SPSS, is to go to the Variable View tab (at the bottom of the SPSS Data Editor) and enter my two variable names (see Figure 1 below).

|Figure 1 |

Next, I switch to the Data View tab and enter the data for each variable (Figure 2). Everyone in group 1 gets a 1 under Group, those in group 2, get a 2 under group, and so on. Under score, I enter the scores corresponding to each individual entered under Group. See the next screen shot.

Now, save the data (to the desktop or somewhere else) before it...

College students, a group people who are the pioneers to build the future society, their behavior on choosing and doing part-time jobs and legal rights maintaining have great significance to research. We assessed the college students’ performance on part-time job employment by analysis of 390 questionnaires, using SPSS software and other data analysis systems. Based on the research, we find that majority students have strong desire to take part-time jobs, but lack knowledge of relevant law and actions to protect their lawful rights and interests. We all need to know the basics. Nevertheless, at the same time, even seasoned researchers tend to forget some methods that they do not always use. Minitab Tutorial

...STAT582 HW7 Review of Two Statistical Software Packages – Minitab and SPSS Yan Sun As a statistician, have you ever got stuck in front of your computer, trying to figure out the correct syntax of a command to type into the little programming window, and just could not get it right? At that moment, I am sure you would wish there was some magic easy button that you could just click and then things would work the way they should. Well, magic does not happen everyday. However, some better choices can make life easier. Instead of using programmed command lines, some statistical software make their usage much easier by using a menu-driven interface. This kind of software are like well-organized control panels. Each of the things you need to do is controlled by a button somewhere on the panel. Once you get familiar with the layout of the panel, the actual work should be quite an enjoyable process. Several good menu-interface statistical software are available. Among them, Minitab and SPSS are the most widely used ones. This report serves as an introduction to these two software packages. For each of them, the software’s specialties, advantages, and suitability will be discussed. Some important functionalities, their implementations, and programming in the two software will be introduced. This report also includes ‘helpful resources’, which I personally found very helpful in learning and using the two software. 1. Minitab History Minitab......

VIEREGGE and SEHKARAN: SOFTWAREQUAL for software SOFTWAREQUAL: THE CASE OF SPSS STATISTICAL SOFTWARE ABSTRACT Anecdotal evidence suggests that today’s students (Generation Y members) do well with the internet, but struggle with applied software. Zeithaml, Parasuraman and Malhotra (2000) developed service quality measures for service encounters in an electronic environment (e.g.SITEQUAL). This preliminary study measures the gap between GenY students’ expectation of and satisfaction with SPSS software. Altogether, n=43 students participated in the experiment. The results suggest that GenY students seek functionality and not fancy gimmicks in application software. While overall reporting satisfaction with SPSS,......

The data included are fictional and were created solely for this assignment. The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D scale) is often utilized to measure depressive symptomology (Radloff, 1977). It is a self-assessment that is completed by the individual. The CES-D contains 20-items rated on a 4-point scale (0 = Rarely or None of the Time to 3 = Most or All of the Time). The phrase “Within the past week did you…” prefaces the questions in order to emphasize recent depressive mood. Scores are summed and can range from 0 to 60. Traditionally, individuals with scores over 16 are identified as “depressed” (Weissman, et al., 1977), though due to high false positive rates, a score of 27 is considered a more useful cut-off (Zich, et al., 1990). The full scale can be accessed at: http://www.chcr.brown.edu/pcoc/cesdscale.pdf. Items 4, 8, 12, and 16 are reversed to avoid “yay-saying” or “nay saying” (Radloff, 1977). Several studies have validated four subscales across a variety of subgroups (i.e., depressive affect, well-being, somatic, and interpersonal) (Gliem & Gliem, 2003). Reliability and Subtest Scoring You will continue the analysis of the CES-D data by learning...

The methodology of research was conducted via cross-sectional research with emphasize on survey questionnaire where 334 questionnaires were distributed to employees who have worked in the private institutions of higher learning in Malaysia. The results were tabulated via a Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 16.0 using the exploratory factor analysis, Pearson correlation analysis and descriptive statistics as well as the stepwise regression analysis. A Research Study on the Dinescape Factors Differences Between Leading Fast Food and Casual Dining Restaurants in the Philippines

...then were given survey questionnaires. Sample size n was computed using the multiple regression sample size calculator. From that, the number of observations was also dependent on the sample size. The computed sample size was 103 however, a total of 45 respondents were acceptable by using multiple regression analysis because according to Hair, Anderson, Tatham, & Black (1995), in order to maximize the number of observations per variable, the minimum ratio of five observations per independent variable should be utilized. The relationship of various DINESCAPE factors and overall satisfaction were determined using different statistical tools like descriptive Statistics, multiple regression analysis, and correlation analysis using the SPSS software. By using multiple regression analysis, it showed that for fast food restaurants not all of the DINESCAPE factors turned out to be significant. The most number of specific factors that were significant is three. For Jollibee and McDonald’s, there were no significant factors. For Chowking, only three specific factors were significant; enough space seating, crowded seating arrangement, and warm atmospheric factors. For casual dining restaurants, only few resulted to be significant; seats/furnishings is the only factor that is most common among the significant specific factors. In correlation analysis, individually there are more specific factors significant in fast food restaurants than in casual dining...
