The early July sunshine was just beginning to settle over Wollaston as I approached the halcyon and hallowed church in the corner of the street. Although I was prepared, when I was told that I will be one of the two volunteers that summer to fund-raise for the “Watermelon Fun Festival”, I panicked and imagined what kind of drudgery I will have. However, it was that summer that I was able to undergo some great changes as a human being.
I volunteered in many positions for St. Chrysostom’s Episcopal Church, an organization focused on serving the neighborhood and building the community. In an effort to fund-raise, Eric, the leader of the organization had inculcated me how to take over my positions.
Dusty cars move in, burnished cars move out.
