Stacking Cups

Cognitive development is very crucial in the development of a child. The way a child thinks and interacts with their environment can predict the way they would handle an interaction as an adult. This maturity of the child’s mind also effects how well they do on certain tasks. They mature their individual knowledge and ability to problem solve as well. Imagine your child has the typical “stacking cups” toy, which has different sizes and colors. As a child continues to grow mentally, the ability to accomplish the task of stacking the cups will become easier for them. According to the psychologist Piaget, their cognitive development really takes off in the first three stages of his Cognitive Development theory: Sensorimotor stage, Preoperational stage, and Concrete Operational stage. The Sensorimotor stage of a child’s life is the first two years of life. Despite what people may think, this is when the child does an enormous amount of maturing cognitively. Within the first substage of this main stage, the child, from birth to one month, begins to modify their reflexes. They become more aware of sucking and grasping things, and these schemes change depending on the stimulus that is activating this reaction. They will try and grab the blocks with both hands, they may try with one hand, and they will most definitely put it in their mouths. Now none of this is weird or abnormal. This is the only way a baby knows how to its environment at this stage. The second substage, aged 1 to 4 months, deals with primary circular reactions. During this substage, the child tries to repeat an inadvertent action that produced an interesting outcome. For example, if the child has a rattle and shakes it, the sound and appearance of the rattle will excite them and they will try and get the same result each time they have their

Business Model

...PSG outlines multi-sport future Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has signalled its intention to create a sporting empire modelled on FC Barcelona and Real Madrid in the latest demonstration of its growing ambition. The Ligue 1 giant on Tuesday announced the relaunch of the city’s handball team, which has existed in various forms since 1941 and has been associated with the club since the 1990s. The move is the initial phase of a bid to develop a multi-sport entity around the PSG brand, and could also see the launch of a basketball club. Barcelona and Real Madrid, along with a host of Europe’s leading clubs, have traditionally employed this model. “The idea is to rapidly create a large multi-sport club to promote the global project of Paris Saint-Germain,” said PSG director general Jean-Claude Blanc, according to Eurosport. “We will not stop at handball even if, for now, there is no specific list or timeframe of sports and deadlines.” The new strategy reflects the latest move by the club’s new owners in an era of great change. Qatar Sports Investment (QSI) in March acquired the remaining 30% stake in PSG in a deal that valued the club at Eur100 million. QSI had originally acquired a 70% stake from US investment firm Colony Capital in June 2011. Following the bitter disappointment of losing out on the 2011-12 Ligue 1 title to Montpellier on the final day of last season, QSI has signalled its intention to make an even stronger challenge at home and in Europe by embarking on a spending...

Playground

...playground evaluation 15.08.12 The playground I have designed is suitable for children from the age of 1 year old. This playground ranges in different equipment for younger and older children. There is sun protection on one of the towers, but hats and sunscreen should also be worn to protect the children from the sun. On my playground there is no exposed sharp edges or nails etc. no raw metal surfaces to avoid burns. Railings are 9cm or less in width apart from each other to avoid a head being stuck. No equipment is able to get limbs, heads and necks stuck. There is an adequate guard railing and hand railings all over 1m high. My playground has separate zones for quite/shy kids, and the noisy and adventurous kids. My playground provides a range of different activities to entertain and encourage children to learn new things. There are separate zones for younger and older children, the zones are not fenced off but this allows the younger children to explore the more difficult equipment. I have placed swings in my playground so that little and big kids can both use them, I also have a see saw and a flying fox, all of these teach kids how to share and interact with other children. There are toilet facilities, water bubblers and bins for litter inside my playground. Parents can supervise easily and see their children from the shaded seating in the playground. My playground is colourful and pretty to the eye. My playground is challenging fun for kids, it allows...

The Most Major Needs Are in My Community

...The most major needs are in my Community By: Amos G. Mellish I am student Amos G. Mellish, and currently live in the Newport Street Community, Monrovia, Liberia. I have lived in this community for the last 12 years. As our country Liberia is in a destitute and underdeveloped state, with a majority of the population living in abject poverty, it is of no doubt that most of the communities in Monrovia are in deplorable conditions. The many major needs of these communities that are essential to the survival of its inhabitants are inexpressible. However, I will point out the four most major needs and justify their essentially to the survival of its inhabitants and how if I were to volunteer in this community as a student of Service Learning Program (SLP-339), would improve these situations. The most major needs are: 1. Good Toilet Facilities 2. A well Arrange Garbage Collection 3. Security against Arm Rubbery 4. Electricity With these four major needs, I will discuss and justify their significance to the survival of the inhabitants of my community. 1. Good Toilet Facility: I look at this as a major issue owing to the fact that most of the houses in my community do not have inside or private toilet. They instead, depend on the community government toilet for daily and regular defecations. This is the one and only public toilet facility in the Newport Community, which is very messy and deplorable. This single area bears the service of about 3000 person...

...Trevor Dutkiewicz May 30, 2014 CP English 11-2 Ms. Fagnilli Hockey Over Everything Hockey. What comes to mind when you think of it? Canada? Winter? Ice Skating? Most people would think that, but there is so much more to the sport than you realize. In fact, its Possibly one of the most underrated sports in America. For all of you that overlook hockey, I picked 4 simple topics for you that came from a legendary hockey quote that you will get to hear when I end this speech. it should open your eyes about how hard this sport really is. Now, I understand that most of you in here play other sports, so even if i only convince one person in here that hockey is the hardest sport to play, itll be a good day. And before any of you even start to think that my opinion wont change your mind because you think that the sport you play is harder, hear me out, I may use your sport as an example. First off, to be a hockey player, you need the strength and power of a football player. You have to work on your body to get the power you need behind your shot. Not to mention, theres other players coming at high speeds right at you, and if you don’t like when they hit you, well, in hockey, its legal to drop the gloves and fight. So having the strength of a football player is one of the many attributes that hockey players must require. Next skill a hockey player needs is the stamina of a marathon runner. Speed is key in hockey and having that will give you a great advantage. Youre constantly...

Japanese Football History

...birth of football in the country is in September 1873 with a game at the Naval Academy in Tokyo Bay organized by a British officer, Archibald Douglas, and his men. The amused Japanese spectators assumed it was a version of kemari, an ancient Japanese ballgame connected with the Shinto religion. The first competitive match in the country is reputed to be the 1888 game between the Kobe Regatta and Athletic Club and the Yokohama Country and Athletic Club, a rivalry that continues to the present day. It was not until 1921, however, that the Japanese Football Association (JFA) was established. After reports reached London of the All Japan Schools Soccer Tournament held in Osaka in 1918, the English FA magnanimously dispatched a replica of the FA Cup as a gift to the fledgling footballing cousin . There was no equivalent Japanese football organization to receive it, so one was created. Fifteen years later, Japan was represented at the Berlin Olympics with a team mostly made up of college students. Japan lost, and with it the chances of the sport gaining similar levels of popularity it was now enjoying in Europe. Baseball took the lead from this time, with a formal...
