The purpose of this article was to research staffing as a quality measure in nursing homes.Systematic reviews are considered the “gold standard” for reviewing a body of research. The demandfor this research is constantly growing. The researchers’ method was to review and summarize eighty-seven articles. The researches organized the articles into three themes: staffing measures, qualitymeasure, and risk adjustment variables. This research is critical to understand to assist the long-termcare community. Many nursing studies were not included in the systematic review, because they wereclassified as “lower level” evidence by randomized controlled trials. The results of this review were putinto three categories: Staffing measures, Quality Measures, and Risk Adjustment/Control …show more content…
This indicates a proxy measurement for the quality of care. There has onlybeen a few studies of turnover rates included into the studies. All the rates were calculated differentlyfor each state and were based on unaudited, self-reported data. Several of the quality measures usedmorality rate, code violations, and discharge measures. Studies discovered that licensed weresignificantly related to residents. The residents improved functional ability, decreased death rate, andincreased the chances of going home. Staff turnover was found higher in for-profit with more than 100beds and in homes which offered lower benefits and no wages. A study found that the resident’soutcomes were better for the homes that had a higher retention among the directors.Another studyreported that homes with the lower administrator turnover rates had the fewest health and safetydeficiencies. Annual turnover rate ranged from all the staff ranged from 40% to 190%. I agree with thisarticle, because more staff can lead to better quality. This has been proven through three decades ofstudy. I agree because staff are not having to work alone they can have more people to work with

This means that the person is not conforming to the expected and accepted patterns of behaviour in society. There are two types of social norms which can be broken by ‘not normal’ patterns of behaviour, Implicit and Explicit.
