Senior Level Management, Recruitment and Selection

Comments:
Based on the conclusions drawn during our last meeting, the organization needs to establish a new recruitment and selection process when it comes to employing our senior level staff. Below is a few options I think the organization can use to recruit and select new members for their senior level staff positions.

Recruitment Approaches
Recruitment approaches are highly used by human resource professionals, businesses, and organizations to fill their staffing positions. Recruiting suitable candidates to efficiently and adequately handle as well as manage senior level positions is vital to the success of the company but can also take time. Offering position to unqualified and inexperienced personnel could be detrimental to the company financially and in the competitive markets. 1. Internal Sourcing and Personal Recommendations
Sometimes businesses use internal bulletins to inform staff members about available positions. They usually do this as a courtesy to those seeking to advance within the company to apply, and to seek recommendations and employee referrals. This process tends to be very effective when it comes to isolating the best job candidates. Also both old staff and new referrals almost always have some working relationship with someone within the company, and this can save the company time and money in recruiting outside of the company. (The ClearFit Team, 2012) 2. External Sourcing
Job boards, newspaper advertisements and trade publication announcements are ways through which business can recruit members for

Case Study 2

...Case Study 2 Jasmine Howard Liberty University Case Study 2 Part I Kaiser Manufacturing Company has been in business for over 50 years using the standard method staffing. Hiring its own employees, training, managing and all human resources issues were all handled in house. The option is now arising to use an employment agency, FSS, to relieve the burden from Kaiser Manufacturing Company. It is important to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of this option before changing the entire business plan Kaiser Manufacturing Company has worked so long. The advantages include, flexible staff numbers, as of current Kaiser Manufacturing Company has a workforce of 725 production workers, 30 clerical workers, 32 engineer and professional workers, and 41 managers, who are all full time employees. This number was a perfect fit for the company when the sales were at an all-time high but as of 2008 the sales have stayed at 175 million annually. Cutting back on the cost of the workforce would be very beneficial to Kaiser Manufacturing Company’s bottom line. If and when sales are to peak or employees call out it is great to have the option to bring in more employees or decrease the number of employees staffed when necessary without adding more work to management. A second advantage would be the caliber of workers available to the company. Though the current workers are adequate to keep the business running, it may be advantageous to bring in someone temporary to help understand why...

Grant Proposal

...Grant Proposals It doesn’t matter if the business is just an agency, organization, for profit or non-profit they need money to operate. Profit companies focus on getting their funding through revenues and interest-bearing loans. Non-profit companies depend on grants, loans, and public generosity. It is a must to understand that non-profit agencies are businesses too and they also need a way to pay for their expenses. Writing grants is the way an agency finds funding. Either an employee professional grant writer or having administrative personnel to write the proposals, they then submit them for review to potential donors. Writing grants proposals is far from an easy to deal with. There are deadlines, awareness of what programs a funder is looking to invest their time and money into. Details for the application are an important part to writing a grant. Some are short and don’t require much information, while others require detailed description of the program. This is the grant writer’s priority to make sure that it meets requirement and all the information that is needed is there. The primary point to a proposal is that is to get their program out there and to make it clear and honest picture of the organization project for those funding and in general. The writer must convince the review committee that their program is the best to choose. Grant proposals are the entrance to a organization, and creative writing can either win the committee over or break the deal. The information...

Medical Clinic

...Final Team Project A new medical clinic is opening up in your hometown and a mutual friend has recommended your services to the administrator of the clinic. You have received a letter asking you to provide information that would support their retaining your services rather than hiring employees for the same purposes. Assume that this letter may have gone out to other local firms as well. Working as a team, you will do the following two things: (a) After discussing and choosing a small business with your team, you will prepare a letter (in effect, an informal proposal) in response, offering your services to the clinic. (b) Follow up with an oral presentation before the administration of the clinic to discuss and further sell your services to them. On the date scheduled for the final presentation, each student will be responsible for evaluating one team, as assigned by the instructor, on their written and oral presentation. To help you prepare, a copy of the student team evaluation form has been provided. Additionally, students will evaluate the contribution of their fellow team members and themselves in developing the presentation. Evaluations will be taken into consideration in determining grades for the project. In preparing your written presentations, consider the following: • What business services will you choose to provide to the clinic? Billing, secretarial, computer, health, landscaping? • Who will present the letter to the clinic...

...process, not individual projects. The deliverable for Part 1 is a written proposal for the project selection criteria and a high level description of a proposed portfolio management process. You may also be expected to make an informal presentation of the report in class. The proposal should be in the form of a memorandum to your Vice President (your instructor) outlining your proposal. The memorandum should be no more than 10 pages, including any figures and tables. It should be double-spaced, 10 or 12 point font with one-inch margins. This is a summary for an executive, so be concise, to the point, and leave out the fluff. If you don't need 10 pages to document your proposal fully, I am sure that your Vice President will be happy with less as long as it is complete. Using appropriate grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure will be part of your grade. The actual proposal should include the following: 1. A description of the proposed portfolio process. You are explaining it to the executives. 2. The reasons it was selected (tie to strategies as appropriate.) 3. A description of the proposed selection criteria. How will the process be applied in your SBU? 4. The method for applying the selection criteria, and the justification for both. How are you going to score the projects and evaluate the scores? Hints for a Successful Part 1: This is not a complete project proposal or even a complete status report. You...

As a result of customer feedback, BPS identified flaws within the company structure that resulted in poor performance with regard to new client attainment and existing client renewals, negatively impacting the company’s revenue in 2010. This was attributed to: 1. A lack of optimization of employee utilization. Available resources resulted in high-risk utilization and over-utilization across sectors during various quarters. 2. This structure was constructed during the expansion process in the early 2000’s to reduce costs, but are affecting customer service quality. To resolve the issue of lack of...

...Writing a Grant Proposal Pg. 1 Steps to Writing a Grant Proposal Natalie Arista February 16, 2014 HSM/270 Program Planning and Grant Proposal Writing in Human Services Tammy Wehrman Writing a Grant Proposal Pg. 2 A human services grant proposal is a written presentation of a program plan. This plan has eleven different factors. They include an abstract, table of contents, specific aims/needs and problems assessment, target population, approaches and methods, long and short-term goals, process, outcome, and impact objectives, activity plans and scheduling, evaluation plan, agency capacity, and project management, and budget and budget justifications. By following the steps on writing a grant proposal, the writer is able to use that as a check off point to verify everything is written down pertaining to what funding agencies are looking for. The first part of a grant proposal is the abstract. This is a 45 line max summary of what the agency is about. The abstract section may be the shortest part of the proposal, but it is the most read, which makes it the most important of the whole proposal. With the abstract being the most important part of the whole proposal, it is vital that the writer be very vigilant and professional in writing out this portion. There are times that the person reading the proposal is not the main ones reviewing the proposal, so this part is mainly the only part that will been seen until it heads off to the final decision makers...
