8.Chart Analysis

I have designed a number of charts to represent Government satisfaction. I have chosen to colour them brightly so they will stand out and be easier to read.
Government Satisfaction by Gender
My first three charts are to display the results of table one. My first chart is a bar chart, it shows us Government satisfaction by gender.
It tells us that a total of 10,000 people have taken part in the survey. There are 4,800 males and 5,200 females. It tells us more people are dissatisfied than satisfied with the government. It shows the females are a lot more satisfied than the males.

My second chart is a pie chart. This is a diagram to represent the percentage of the males and females that are satisfied with the government. I have chosen the colours blue to represent the males and pink to represent the females. The largest component of the pie chart is the females at 79% . This equals to 3,000 of the total of 3,800 people that were satisfied with the government. The smallest component is the males at 21%.

My third chart is also a pie chart. This is representing the opposite of the last pie chart, opposite being the percentage of the males and females that are dissatisfied with the government. The largest component on the chart showing dissatisfaction is the males at 65% .This equals to 4,000 of the 6,200 people that were dissatisfied. The smallest percentage is the females at 35%.

Satisfaction Levels by Age Group
These three charts will represent the results of table two. The first chart is a bar chart, it displays Government satisfaction levels by age group. The chart is divided into three age groups: 18-35, 35-55 and 55-75. It tells us that more people were dissatisfied than satisfied. Also, the younger group were the most satisfied and the middle-aged group were the least satisfied.

The second chart is a pie chart. It represents the

Business Statistics

...NOTES TOPIC 1: Introduction to Statistics (Textbook Chapter 1) Introduction No doubt you have noticed the large number of facts and figures, often referred to as statistics, that appear in the newspapers and magazines you read, websites you visit, television you watch (especially sporting events), and in grocery stores where you shop. A simple figure is called a statistic. A few examples: • Home and condominium sales declined 6.5% in Charleston, South Carolina in April, 2006 compared to sales in April, 2005. • Tuition and fees for resident undergraduate students at public four year institutions averaged $5,491 for 2005-06, a 7.1%increase over 2004-05. • Approximately 24 million medicare beneficiaries were enrolled in the new prescription drug program as of January, 2006. • The government reported that 138,000 jobs were added to the economy in April, 2006. • The Dow Jones Industrial Average was 11,094.04 on May 30, 2006. You may think of statistics simply as a collection of numerical information. However, statistics has a much broader meaning. Learning Objectives After completing this chapter, you will be able to: 1. Understand why we study statistics. 2. Explain what is meant by descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. 3. Distinguish between a qualitative variable and a quantitative variable. 4. Distinguish between a discrete variable and a continuous variable. 5. Distinguish among nominal, ordinal...

We divide our memory in three “pieces” the short-term memory and the long-term memory and the sensory memory. This memory model was explained by the researchers Atkinson and Shiffrin 1968. First is the sensory memory, it can memorize things only for a few seconds. The visual system possesses iconic memory for visual stimuli like the shape, the size and the color of an object. Second is the short-term memory, in this case we can store some information for a longer period so that we can be able to use them for example we can memorize a telephone number long enough to dial it and use it, after...

A Gallop poll surveyed 1,018 adults by telephone, and 22% of them reported that they smoked cigarettes within the past week. Based on our chapter one as well as our chapter two reading the statistical study that was conducted was; Simple Random sampling which fell into descriptive statistics, this is what deals with describing raw data in the form of graphics and sample statistics (Bennett, Briggs, Triola, 2009). Most Ph.D. candidates are willing to dedicate themselves to intensive research and study because they enjoy the subject matter. Winter 2002-03 Statistics also show other, more tangible payoffs for Ph.D. recipients when they enter the labor force. Unemployment rates are consistently lower and earnings are significantly higher for people with a Ph.D. degree than they are for people with lower levels of educational attainment. As chart 1 shows, doctoral degree holders in 2001 had an unemployment rate of slightly more than 1 percent and median annual earnings of $66,000—considerably Elka Jones is an economist in the Office of Occupational Statistics and Employment Projections, BLS, (202) 691-5719. Uses of Statistical Information Paper

...individual uses. There is data used for budgeting, staffing, and supplies. Data is collected on demographics of the patient population. Data is measured constantly in patients; vital signs, lab values, and measurements of all sorts. We also conduct clinical trials in vast numbers collecting data on efficacy, treatment variation, modalities, and outcomes. 2. One example of descriptive statistics we use in our work place is yearly charts depicting prevalence of falls hospital wide. These charts are shown in a number of ways and are divided by unit so that each unit can be compared one with the other. Additionally, they have charts showing the yearly trends by unit and hospital-wide. They get fairly detailed on some of them showing specific categories of fall occurrence, for example; assisted vs. unassisted; Falls due to toileting; falls by time of day; falls by assessed risk category. This practice is highly effective and allows everyone to see where, when, and how falls are occurring. It also provides insight into how to go about reducing the instances. 3. Where I work we do use inferential statistics, in fact we apply it a lot. We administer chemotherapy and study its effects. We collect data from sample populations (trials) and based on the analysis develop protocols to treat patients for side effects that are commonly associated with the treatment, regardless of actual occurrence or rather before assumed occurrence. An example of this is the chemotherapy “nadir” effect; data...
