I began this lesson by asking my student to look and point and read the title page. The book used in this lesson was The Van by Michele Dufresne. The student I worked with was Nicholas Ortiz. After the reading, I also did a story sequencing activity using a premade puzzle piece labeled beginning, middle and end. I first had Nicholas take a picture walk of the book and I think this clarified because I pointed out different clues in the pictures. I also had him do some predicting. I also had Nicholas read a page aloud. I also made sure to encourage Nichols when I saw him using good reading strategies.
