The topic I have decided to research on is based on the productive work environments for millennials. I shall focus on this topic by looking at how managers can manage and retain the millennials in the workplace. I find this topic interesting and relevant to research in the business context because as a millennial, I find it interesting how; based on the numerous research articles (which shall be further explained in this paper), there are a lot of stereotypes surrounding managing and retaining millennials and due to the research I discovered that managers can use Theory Y; also known as the behavioral theory approach (more people centered) to manage millennials.

These author explain that managers should utilize the differences between the millennials and Generation Y such as salaries, social preferences, the balance between their work and lifestyles etc. to their advantage because they are geared towards understanding how millennials prefer being managed. Other articles are also used to explain the stereotypes that surround millennials such as their ambition, multitasking, etc. Most importantly, this article is related to theory Y for managing millennials as it rests on the seven tips given by these authors; emphasizing the need for human interactions between the millennials and the manager by creating an environment where millennials can easily get promoted, receive feedback often on their performance which can increase efficiency and productivity through rewards, and using the new technology to train millennials- while ensuring team …show more content…
It will be relevant for my research paper because it explains how the millennials are special due to the different factors that surround their growth with the emphasis on guiding them to reach their maximum potential through the behavioral school method- flexible time schedule, increased positivity in the work force, using their technological skills to enhance organizational profits.

The purpose of the study was to examine the effects of social role on gender specific facial expressions. It was predicted that women’s facial expressions connected with supervisory position will be rated as more masculine and women’s facial expression connected with subordinate or employee status will be rated as more feminine. Sixty nine individuals participated in our study. They were randomly assigned to read a scenario about either CEO, department manager or an entry level female and rate the female facial expression provided. Seven different emotions were rated which included disgust, anger, fear, happiness, neutral, sadness and surprise, on a seven-point Likert-type scale. After data was collected, perceived emotional intensity was measured and analyzed using a total feminine emotion score. Results showed that there was no difference in perceived emotional intensity based occupation level or gender of participant.
