Many stereotypes lead us to believe inaccurate things about people. Right now Rashad is quoting what his dad says. He's doing ROTC program that's for the military but he says he don't need it. Rashad's dad believes it's the only option for his son after college. Rashad's dad says to him, “There’s no better opportunity for a black boy in this country than to join the army.”(reynolds 4). This quote shows the significance of how the black people in the country are brought about. Apparently they can’t be successful if their not in the military serving for the white folks.
