Managment Policy

...From the article I found, there are 9 essential human resources skill: 1. Organization 2. Multitasking 3. Discretion and Ethics 4. Dual Focus 5. Employee Trust 6. Fairness 7. Dedication to Continuous Improvement 8. Strategic Orientation 9. Team Orientation I believe one of the HR skills that I have is organization because in everything I do from school work to my wrenches in my toolbox, I have to have everything in a certain place. This allows me to find anything that I need from an assignment from my Marketing class I took several terms ago to a 9/16 wrench in my tool box. There are 2 other HR skills that I believe I have a fairly good handle on and those are Fairness and Team Orientation. Although for the most part I would rather work alone than with a group of people, I understand that there are times when working within a group can be beneficial. I also understand that not everyone within the group will be the same; we all are unique in our own way. In a group setting, everyone in the group needs to find a way to work together to complete the job or project. The 2 areas of HR skills that I have the most trouble with are Multitasking and Dual Focus. For anyone that knows me, once I start a project I have to see it to its conclusion without diverting my attention to something else. This sometimes gets me into trouble with deadlines because I will have too much focus on one assignment and another assignment is be neglected.......

Strategic Management & Business Policy (Starbucks)

...Strategic Management & Business Policy Week Two Assignment: Starbucks From its humble beginning to multi-billion dollar corporation, Starbucks has had its fair share of ups and downs. Many of which can be associated with the constant changes in public demand. By utilizing the SWOT, the company was able to not only tackle each of the obstacles it in countered, it managed to strengthen organization and stay ahead of the competition. SWOT is an acronym that stands for a company’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats analysis. This analysis tool is used by the strategic business unit (SBU) to identify the company’s internal strengthens and weaknesses, as well as external opportunity or threats the company may encounter in the future (Marcus 2011). Companies use their strength to take advantage of the market and use it to increase their net earnings. By identifying weaknesses within the company, SBU is able to allocate resources to the under performing areas to improve productivity and income. Opportunities can sometimes be confused as threats, as there is usually some form of risk involved. This type of cautious business practice can hinder a company from reaching its full potential; it might also cause the firm to go out of business. In its infancy Starbucks was already ahead of its competition, created by three men with a passion for fine coffee and tea, the business offered the public a chance to experience coffee at its finest. At the time most coffee had...

...STRATEGIC MARKETING MANAGMENT BUSI 520 TASK: Individual Submission Week 3 CULTURAL FACTORS DEFINED Cultural factors have a major influence in what merchandise consumers purchases. In order to understand this clearer, one needs to take a closer look at the definition of culture. According to Kotler and Keller (2012), “Culture is the fundamental determinant of a person’s wants and behavior”. In other words, culture is the deciding factor that guides the choices of the consumer. One product which many consumers purchase is the iPad. Sales, of this advanced version of a tablet computer, are steadily increasing. According to Bray, Palazzolo and Sherr from (2013), the iPhone and iPad are in fact the two top selling products of the Apple company. The iPad, just before its unveiling, was surrounded by so much enthusiasm. As stated by Furfie(2010), “The Wall Street Journal joked that ‘the last time there was this much excitement about a tablet, it had some commandments written on it’”. As funny as this may sound, other tablets don’t come close to competing with this product. The iPad has a stake in our culture and it is here to stay! An astute observer may ask, why do so many consumers gravitate towards iPad as opposed to another similar product in the marketplace today? Furthermore, the enthusiasm and general demand for the iPad seems to overshadow the competitor’s products. Kotler and Keller conclude that the geographic region has a direct influence on the products......

Strategic Managment reverse, attempting to tailor products to meet the demands of customers. In essence, market orientation can be thought of as a coordinated marketing campaign between a company and its customers. We can find many different definitions for market orientation as stated below by: - Kohli and Jaworski (1990) defined market orientation as "the organization-wide generation of market intelligence, dissemination of the intelligence across departments and organization-wide responsiveness to it" - Narver and Slater (1990) defined market orientation as "the organization culture that most effectively and efficiently creates the necessary behaviors for the creation of superior value for buyers and, thus, continuous superior performance for the business." Measure Market orientation: In order to measure market orientation, the two most widely used scales are MARKOR and MKTOR. Constructs for market oriented behavior are based on the widely accepted MARKOR scale of Kohli, Jeworski, and Kumar (1993). Drawing on the expert interviews, a few adaptions were made, in order to accommodate the characteristics of new high-tech ventures, & generally more informal activities were integrated. We prefer the original MARKOR scale to the refined & validated scale of Matsuno, Mentzer & Rentz (2000). The mktor scale is a 15-item, 7-point Likert-type scale, with all points specified. In this measure, market orientation is conceptualized as a one-dimensional construct, with three components,......

...EasyJet underlines advantage over budget competitors as profit soars EasyJet underlined its growing advantage over budget rivals, reporting annual profit at the top end of forecasts and returning cash to shareholders. The upbeat assessment is in contrast to that given by Ryanair, Europe's biggest budget airline, which this month cut its annual profit target for the second time in two months and admitted it needed to improve customer service. Rival airlines have been struggling with high fuel costs and weak consumer confidence, sending some smaller carriers out of business while the likes of British Airways owner IAG and Air France-KLM have cut routes, leaving gaps that low-cost airlines have been quick to exploit. Over the last three years easyJet has added flights on routes where rivals have cut back, and introduced more flights between top business destinations. It has also added flexible ticketing to allow passengers to change their flight up to two hours before scheduled departure time, and allocated seating in an attempt to steal corporate customers. EasyJet proposed a full year dividend of 33.5 pence a share, 55.6pc up on last year, and a special dividend of 44.1 pence per share, making a total payout to investors of £308m. It said forward bookings were in line with last year but that its first quarter would be impacted by tough year-on-year comparisons due to strong post-Olympics demand in the UK and travel restrictions to Egypt. However, EasyJet still expects......
