Some people argue that lying is justifiable depending on the situation at hand. In the “Brawley Rape Scandal”, a black girl named Tawana Brawley, falsely accused two white men of raping her, one was a police officer and the other a prosecuting attorney. The 15 year old caused an uproar in the black communities, because of the horrible crime she made up and her defender Reverend Al Sharpton, lectured the people that the crime was a racial crime. “‘whatever happened’ he answered; ‘you’re dealing with a minor who was missing four days. So it’s clear that something happened’” (page 2, second paragraph). Reverend Al Sharpton said this statement after Brawley was found to be guilty of completely creating the whole story just to avoid facing her stepfather
