A collection of student photography is on display at the Northwest Spring Branch campus until Oct 7. At the exhibit are world class pictures without even the slightest hint that they came from Houston Community College students.

From the color to the texture, and even the pictures that were shot in black and white, you would never guess that the pictures came from amateurs. Each student was asked to study a famous photographer, then emulate them in their own work of art. Not a single picture was far off.

One student, Marianna, enjoys taking pictures of her models as they jump in the air. She says that when her models jump, it’s impossible for them to fake a smile, and at the apex of their jump, she can capture the most sincere expressions in their faces. “When they’re smiling,” Marianna says, “It’s a …show more content…
She chose to emulate a famous Chinese photographer and had an amazing shot of a Geisha. She also went out with a group, at night for a photo shoot. Her night shots are there on display; completely mesmerizing how she allows the shutter of her camera to stay open long enough to make the night come alive in the image.

Andre Hermann, a professional street photographer, HCC photography professor and adviser of the photography club. He has been instrumental in making the show happen. This is the first annual show of it's type for HCC photography students. Hundreds of students submitted their works to be displayed and a panel of 5 judges chose the best pictures. This is an amazing time of year for these students.

As I walked from picture to picture, I was amazed. Each picture had it’s own story, it’s trademark that will be imprinted on it forever. Some pictures will make you cringe, some will fill you with joy, some will make you angry and some will make you sad. One of them made me fall in love.

The exhibit runs through Oct. 7, so you still have time to see HCC talent in

Perceptions of Third Year Fine Arts Students in Far Eastern University on the Use of Nude Models in Art

...Perceptions of Third Year Fine Arts Students In Far Eastern University on the Use Of Nude Models in Art In Partial Fulfillment of The Subject Requirements In English 8 (Technical Writing) Submitted to: Mr. Rogelio Ramos Guce English Department Institute of Arts and Sciences by Alimorong, Aislin Nika Alterado, Charles Caga-anan, Mark Nathaniel Elpedes, Jhune-Marx Nuñez, Domnilourd Pangilinan, Shem Salvador, Mikaela Valdez, Judah Yatco, Ma. Barbara FT0933 First Semester S.Y. 2011 - 2012 CHAPTER I THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND Introduction In the early days, great masters like da Vinci, Michaelangelo and Botticelli had been using nude models as references in their artworks for religious purposes. Up until now, this idea is still being implemented by artists but it is now more about aesthetics. Nude art generally refers to the artists’ depiction of artistic elements of nudity instead of actually showing the naked form of humans. Different cultures react differently on the use of nude models in art. It is through the aesthetic view of nude art that most countries accept this kind of art (Changing Depictions of Art Nudes, 2011). Art schools including Far Eastern University also accept the use of nude models in art such as paintings, sculpture, photography, and the like. In the curriculum of the Fine Arts Department, there are subjects like Anatomy, Life Drawing and Life Painting wherein nude models are used as references in...

Digital Photography

...Module 1: Digital Photography Critical Analysis Digital Photography 1. Introduction A sailor planting a wet one on a nurse, Man walking on the moon, a student standing up to a line of tanks, and the horrifying moment a plane crashed into a skyscraper. Figure 1 –"V-J Day, Times Square, 1945", a.k.a. "The Kiss" “Man on the Moon, Apollo 11, 1969” "Tiananmen Square, China, 1989" “9/11 Attacks, New York City, 2001” All of these iconic images from history would be nothing but memories without the invention of photography. The power of photography has allowed us to see distant places, events before our lifetime, people from foreign lands and tragedies including war; all through the view of a lens. In just under 200 years, photography has transformed the world we live in enabling us to see not only beyond the boundaries of time and location but also beyond the range of human vision through macro, infrared and high-speed photography. Ms Nikkon and Camera

...Sony camera vs Nikon camera marketing strategy STRATEGY IMPLEMENTATION The idea behind this continual process is that each step of the planning process requires some degree of implementation before the next stage can begin. This naturally dictates that all implementation cannot be postponed until completion of the plan, but must be initiated along the way. Implementation procedures specific to each phase of planning must be completed during that phase in order for the next stage to be started. Read more: Strategy Formulation - organization, levels, system, advantages, manager, school, company, hierarchy, business http://www.referenceforbusiness.com/management/Sc-Str/Strategy-Formulation.html#ixzz1YzZon4PbImplementation of the strategic plan is the final step for putting it to work for an organization. To be successful, the strategic plan must have the support of every member of the firm. As mentioned in the beginning, this is why the top office must be involved from the beginning. A company's leader is its most influential member. Positive reception and implementation of the strategic plan into daily activities by this office greatly increases the likelihood that others will do the same. Advertising is key to successful implementation of the strategic plan. The more often employees hear about the plan, its elements, and ways to measure its success, the greater the possibility that they will undertake it as part of their daily work lives. It is especially important that...

Buying a Camera

...INTRODUCTION Product overview The Canon EOS 600D is an 18.0 megapixel digital single-lens reflex camera, released by Canon on 7 February 2011. It is known as the EOS Kiss X5 in Japan and the EOS Rebel T3i in the Americas. I was one of those who are thinking about getting the very first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) Camera, when I first laid my eyes on the Canon Kiss X5. At the time, there were only basic features of the product that I could access, based on limited knowledge about technical terms and shooting capacity in Photography. The Canon Kiss X5 is the newest in the Rebel series of cameras that have been produced by Canon, in order to satisfy the demand for great cameras by amateur customers. First we are going to examine the quality of the photos that can be taken. With a DSLR Camera, the quality of images stands beyond the concept of “mega pixels” (often boast about 7 to 10 for regular point shot digital cameras). We can be able to take photos in all lighting conditions with an ISO rating up to 6400 which is expandable to ISO 12800. The camera can also capture video with 1920 x 1080 full HD, is something that lots regular camcorders cannot claim to be able to do. So what makes the gear outstanding among its ancestors (with the same sensor system as the previous model Canon Kiss X4)? Perhaps it is because of the additional new features that can reveal creativity and facilitate the use of customer. By using Basic+, it provides settings whereby we can shoot by...

Selfie Obsession

...Section-1 INTRODUCTION Background of the study (Credibility in Wikipedia) A selfie is a type of self-portrait photograph, typically taken with a hand-held digital camera or camera phone. Selfies are often associated with social networking, like Instagram. They are often casual, are typically taken either with a camera held at arm's length or in a mirror, and typically include either only the photographer or the photographer and as many people as can be in focus. Selfies taken that involve multiple people are known as "group selfies" or "ussies". Robert Cornelius, an American pioneer in photography, produced a daguerreotype of himself in 1839 which is also one of the first photographs of a person. The concept of uploading group self-taken photographs (now known as super selfies) to the internet, although with a disposable camera not a smartphone, dates to a webpage created by Australians in September 2001, including photos taken in the late 1990s (captured by the Internet Archive in April 2004). The earliest usage of the word selfie can be traced as far back as 2002. It first appeared in an Australian internet forum (ABC Online) on 13 September 2002. Um, drunk at a mates 21st, I tripped ofer [sic] and landed lip first (with front teeth coming a very close second) on a set of steps. I had a hole about 1cm long right through my bottom lip. And sorry about the focus, it was a selfie. The term "selfie" was discussed by photographer Jim Krause in 2005, although photos in the...
