Some people argue that students, who will probably earn higher than average salaries after graduating, should pay for their own higher education rather than the state.
As more and more students nowadays are going to university, this is becoming such an important issue.
The state was able generally to afford university for almost all the students, however since the demand, in these years, is increasing it is becoming a problem for the state economy which due to this the tax for the students’ loan have increased: this is why some people argue that.
I disagree to this extent as I think that every student should be helped by the state to join higher education, and in relation to what they have when they’re joining university, their income, or if they rely on their parents, in relation to their parents’ income.
As the students finish their studies and they start having a regular wage, they should pay among all the other taxes a tax, which is proportional to what they are earning, until they will not be able to solve the debit they have with the state.
This debit should be arranged in accordance to how much the students receive from the state, so that everyone will have to pay a different tax because of the various amounts they could afford when they started the loans.
In addition to this, even if it is rare students, which come from higher classes, can decide not to open their debt and to pay universities by themselves.
In conclusion, I think that every student should have the chance to borrow money from the state and it should not be decided by the state those who will either or not have to pay for their universities on their own.

Academic Infrigement in College

...in college, even at its highest levels, is increasingly becoming a greater issue by the years. Donald L. McCabe, a management professor at Rutgers University, conducted a research which showed that in 1964, fifty-eight percent of engineering students admitted to cheating at least once. By 1996, that percentage rose to eighty-two percent [3]. McCabe at the time was quoted as saying “Students now look at cheating differently”. “Students are no longer embarrassed by it”. Aside from this common attitude among students, many professors also list the enhancements of technology such as text messaging and the internet as major contributing factors to aid students in cheating. In September, 2004, The Washington Post released an article about academic dishonesty. They acknowledged there is a problem with students cheating in college and that technology has worsened what was already an area of growing concern. However, rather than focus their energy on stiff punishment and court trials they present prevention over consequences as the way to fight the cheating. “Our first and most important line of defense against academic dishonesty is simply good teaching. Cheating and plagiarism often arise in a vacuum created by routine, lack of interest and overwork” [2]. “The second remedy is to encourage the development of integrity in our students. A sense of responsibility about one's intellectual development would preclude cheating and plagiarizing as inconsistent with one's identity. It is...

College Athletes Should Be Paid

...Whether college athletes should be paid or not is a very controversial topic in the sports world. Many professional football or basketball players in the NCAA and the NBA get paid millions of dollars each year (Text 1, lines 10-16). However, college athletes don’t deserve to be paid as if they were in the NCAA or the NBA. People in the sports community hasn't taken into consideration all the benefits that student-athletes receive with an athletic scholarship. Due to universities providing scholarships and paid tuition, athletes shouldn’t be paid to play a sport. The athletic scholarship, paid tuition, and extra benefits that the student-athletes receive is pay enough. For instance, text 4 implies that an athletic scholarship can be worth approximately twenty to fifty thousand per year, and this doesn’t include the protective gear or travel expenses that students don’t have to worry about (lines 5-6). People need to...

College Tuition

...resource to people of all races, origins and religions. The U.S. government should pay for two years of college tuition for every U.S. Citizen who graduates from an American High School to show how education in the United States has a high impact on the job market. At this current time it is imperative for parents to ensure their children are prepared for the reality ahead. The U.S. government currently funds many different programs to help those in need of resources for shelter and a means of helping to care for families, but there is not much help available in terms of education. Although America is a free country and the government is far more lenient than other countries, the education system has fallen below the mark according to the National Educational Agency, and this matter needs to be brought to the forefront. Our American high school students are suffering and depending on the wrong type of government assistance to help maintain everyday life standards and adding to the high school drop-out rates in record highs. Currently, the government funds programs from the federal, state and local levels for high school education only. The government has separated post-secondary education to rely on student loans from lending institutions along with scholarships to help with the cost of post-secondary education. However, the funds allocated for some of these programs to help keep the American high school students in school could be taken away from the high school level and allocated...

Why We Should Be Able To Pay Students For Better Grades

...and effective dynamo? Schools should be willing to put in a little extra money for students to improve and do better. Rewarding students can result in many positive effects on their lives. This includes many kids getting better test scores, higher graduation rates, and helping their families with financial issues. From helping students with their families, to higher graduation rates and test scores, schools should be willing to pay students for superior grades. To begin, students should get paid for admirable grades on the grounds that it helps them get better test scores. Chan from John Hopkins University claimed, ”In Dallas, Texas, 10,000 students passed advanced placement tests for a reward of $400, compared to the year before when only about 6,000 students passed.” Consequently, 4,000 more students passed the tests due to the fact that they would be rewarded. This means that students would most likely study harder and pay more attention in class when a reward is in mind. The effect of this is kids getting better grades overall. Better grades will allow high schoolers to...

English Project Proposal

...a lot of money, time, effort, and more. Thousands of students go away to school after they graduate from high school, and they will spend several years after graduating from college paying for it. College and university costs for tuition, living costs, and a social life adds up fast. The University of California at Davis annual tuition costs well over $14,000. Sacramento State University annual tuition is $11,000. Stanford University for a year costs well over $30,000. Harvard University’s annual costs for living and education is well over $41,000. Many colleges cost so much for students to live and go to school that after they graduate they will still be paying for their school for several more years. Student loans totaling well over $200,000 because of interest and the high cost of an education in today’s world. I’m interested in this topic because I can relate to it and so many of my own friends are in this same situation in different stages though. $200,000 could buy a lot of different things from a nice sports car or a house. It is ridiculous for college to cost that much money. Where does all the money go any way? How much do these college professors make in a year? Why does a college education have to cost so much money on average? Textbooks, toiletries, food, bills, social life, and independent life costs money. Life costs money. College professors don’t make as much money as they should by teaching college students. What I hope to accomplish from this whole project: ...

Financial Aid Advantages

...“You can grow up to go to Georgetown University too,” my elementary teacher would tell me and the other students. Growing up in American public schools, I was taught that I could achieve anything and become anything. But when I reached high school, I understood that is not entirely true for everyone. There are very few students that don’t have to worry about financial aid and can potentially pay to go to Ivy league schools. However, it is harder for students like me that have to worry about the cost. Teachers don’t say, “make sure you are saving up money for college” because It is just assumed that everyone will be drowned in student loans. Public schools make students anticipate going to any college or university without including the key...

Undocumented Argument

...Undocumented Argument Some things in life can go unsaid but then there are things that need a voice. One thing that gets on my nerves is the blue lot parking area at Bloomsburg University. The blue lot is a stone parking lot located in the far left corner of upper campus directly to the left of JKA apartments completely out of the way and a huge inconvenience for college students that use it. Not to mention the university charges seventy five dollars to park there. The university police locks down the gated entrance every night causing people to be locked in or out. My position on the rules and regulations of the parking lot is strongly opposed and feel that it should be free. Not only is it absurd to pay for this parking but also that at times you are not even allowed to get to your own personal vehicle that you pay large amounts of money just to have and insure. This cause’s nothing but large inconveniences from many college students but also puts the ones who use it in possible danger. The location of the parking lot causes a lot of inconveniences. It’s not very close and is a hike just to get there. If you happen to be a new freshman or just a student still living in the dorms it takes a while to get your vehicle. First you have to walk all the way up to Centennial Hall building and wait for the shuttle then you have to take that all the way up to the recently new JKA apartments. Once there you then walk all the way past the apartments and through the gates and then...

Eliminating Student Debt

...Eliminating Student Debt Bonnie Heath COM/156 August 29, 2010 Lori Wilson Eliminating Student Debt What I hope to accomplish in this paper is to show the reader that because of the predatory practices and shady deals with the different schools, credit card companies should not be allowed on campuses marketing to college students. The level of debt in society today is high enough and credit card companies do not need to be targeting college students just to increase their number of customers. Even though they should be allowed to market to college students because it is a good way to learn about credit cards and how to handle them responsibly, credit card companies should not be allowed on campuses to market to college students. College students already have enough debt as it is if they do not receive scholarships or help from their parents, and college students, fresh out of high school, do not know enough about personal finance and personal credit to be responsible about credit cards. I happen to agree with this statement because when one thinks about it, college students who do not have scholarships or help from their parents are already in enough debt as it is. One argument for credit card companies being allowed to market to college students is credit cards are a way for students on their own for the first time to establish a good credit score, which then can be used later in life to obtain loans for cars or homes. Credit card companies market to college students in the...

The Importance Of Paying College Athletes Get Paid

...Ennis 12 November 2015 Writ 101 To Pay or Not to Pay Imagine working for hours on end, risking your body from injury, working extra hard to make you a better player and you are not making a penny but someone else is. Imagine how many people played your sport in high school and now you play in college and they don’t. Now comes the long-term argument; should college athletes get paid? Why Colleges Should Get Paid

...SPM 210 Why should College Athletes Get Paid? By Calvin Mainor E013280 11/20/2013   Under current NCAA regulations, "all student athletes are prohibited from receiving any payment for their efforts". Exploited athletes generate millions of dollars for their schools, and never see a dime. Is this fair? The universities, coaches, boosters, scouts for recruiting purpose are all getting paid off the players. But the major reasons why the stadiums and arenas are filled up are because of the players but they don’t see a penny of the money. Some universities build academic buildings on campus with the money that the players make for the school. Some coaches even get a percentage of the tickets revenue from the home games the players get nothing. The school pays coaches millions of dollars to coach the player who do the work. The college athletes are slaves to the schools and the coaches. The coaches treat the players as workhorses; the student-athletes can’t even choose their own major sometimes. The student-athletes can’t have a job so where are they supposed to get money from. People say that student-athletes get four-year scholarship, or a free education, but that is not true. Student-athletes only get a year to year scholarship which they can be dropped from the scholarship for a number of reasons. The idea of college athletes being slaves have to get settled for the greater good of athletes and institutions graduation rates. College sports are big business...

...of oneself, but one must also be ready to make very important decisions daily. Wofford College and the University of Georgia both offer many opportunities which makes choosing between them even more difficult. Wofford College is a small private liberal arts college located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. It has 1,608 students and is part of the ACC conference. Being private, I do not get to pay special in-state tuition. Wofford College costs about $53,539. Wofford College only offers coed-housing and does not offer musical theatre, which is a huge deciding factor. With Wofford being a small school, I would have a much better chance of making the cheerleading team. Being at a small school may not offer me as many options for majors, but I have a greater chance of being a somebody instead of a nobody. The University of Georgia is a large, out of state, public University that has 26,882 students. Being out of state, I would pay $41,066 unless; however, if I made the cheerleading team, I would get in state tuition. It is very difficult to cheer for Georgia though, so I should not get my hopes up. UGA offers all girl and fraternity housing and the university is part of the SEC.
