Effects of Water Pollution on Aquatic Ecosystems written by: Sean Fears•edited by: Niki Fears•updated: 1/12/2009
Whether the compounds being added to our watersheds are natural or foreign, they have an effect if the flora and fauna are not adapted to them. Find out some of the ways in which water pollution effects and causes changes in aquatic ecosystems! * Most affected
Water pollution can come as a result of natural or unnatural compounds being added to a watersource. These can sway the balance of an ecosystem resulting in danger to natural wildlife of aquatic environments.
Some animals and plants are highly susceptible to the effects of water pollution: * Amphibians tend to be very pollution sensitive due to the fact that they absorb chemicals in the water through their skins; this is one reason why many amphibian populations are in distress today. * With addition of detergents to the eco-system, insects that normally have the ability to walk on water will be unable to. * Younger animals also have a greater sensitivity to chemical compounds, especially those that mimic organic compounds, since they are still undergoing the physiological changes associated with maturation. These effects can range from physiological effects such as suffocation and thinning of eggshells to the alteration of neurochemistry.
That is why one water-quality monitoring technique involves a survey of macroinvertebrates in the stream; if animals with narrow requirements are present, then the stream health has to be above their minimum threshold. By definition, pollution reduces aquatic biodiversity! Since no species (or very few) live in total isolation, the difficulties of these species often get passed on to others. * Pollution-tolerant organisms
Other organisms are highly tolerant to pollution of their environments, among these are aquatic worms, leeches, and...

Beyond a Reasonable Doubt

...Beyond a Reasonable Doubt (2009) Company: Starz/Anchor Bay Director: Peter Hyams Actors: Michael Douglas Jesse Metcalf Amber Tamblyn Beyond a Reasonable Doubt is a remake of a 1956 noir movie with the same title. It was submitted to theaters in 2009 by the Starz/Anchor Bay production company. Directed by Peter Hyams and starring Jesse Metcalf, Michael Douglas, and Amber Tamblyn, this movie is a riveting thriller that focuses on a successful DA that will do whatever it takes to win a case. I chose this film because it was fairly recent and the plot focused on the office of a District Attorney. In the movie, a district attorney, Martin Hunter (Michael Douglas) has a nearly flawless record of convicting criminals and surely has aspirations for the governor’s office. When ambitious rookie journalist, C.J. Nicholas (Jesse Metcalf) begins investigating Hunter for tampering with evidence to secure his convictions, the story takes an interesting turn. C.J., with the help of his videographer, frames himself as a murder suspect to make a grand attempt to catch the D.A. in an act of corruption. Assistant D.A. Ella Crystal (Amber Tamblyn) becomes romantically involved with C.J. and must choose between her recently convicted boyfriend and her potentially corrupt boss. Ella chooses to believe and help her boyfriend, thereby putting her own career and eventually life in jeopardy in order to obtain incriminating proof that puts the fate of both C.J's innocence and Hunter's......

What Makes a Hipster

...What makes a Hipster? You could be one yourself and never know. By Nathan Green -- September 26, 2015 Hipster. If you ask a hipster, the word itself has lost all meaning. But if you ask someone else, it means hipster, and everyone gets it. Picture by pompei77 on Hipsters are difficult to describe as a group, but we know one when we see one, right? I used my residence at Oklahoma State University to find plenty of subjects, and several were willing to talk to me about their style. They were people who gave off that unique vibe that we can all know: a lack of any recognizable brands, skinny jeans (which are more of a collective style now, but are a must for a hipster it seems), glasses like Ray Ban Wayfarers or "Buddy Holly" style glasses, "ironic" t shirts like any kind of vintage rock tour shirt or anything eye catchingly original, and many carry messenger bags and sport facial hair (for males) coupled with the distinctive knit hat. When studied, hipsterism has been described as a "contrarian culture" which is taking up a style or way of life in a way that is opposed to the majority, regardless of how unpopular it may be, which was apparent by the disdain I was shown when I used the word hipster. That was the one thing that turned them against me, the implication that they were a member of a group. This is the basis of the culture. One of the key elements of being hipster is to "avoid the label." Darian, a tall man sporting a well groomed beard......

Most of the engineering students knew which biotechnology ma’am of College of Basic Science and Humanities was being referred to. It was routine affair at TIC; the young students knew what exactly Thakur meant… their Mechanical Engineer super-senior Manish Pant, the one who loved to strum Bob Dylan songs probably cleared his khaata (balance money to be paid) with Thakur. Thakur knew that they would always pay even when they left the campus… often substantially more than they owed him. Their existed an unwritten rule between Thakur and his beneficiaries, of course within tacitly agreed boundaries, for final year students, if your campus interviews were on, you could practically have endless udhars, for others you were supposed to pay upfront the moment you got your draft or your parents transferred the money in your ATM at the start of the month. And well well well !! Pant Sir had formally proposed to Alpana Ma’am of......
