In the story "Alvara," author Tanya Savory give us about story about Alvara who is Mexican. She had had poor childhood with her family in a village in southern coastal Mexico. and they lost everything after Hurricane Pauline attacked their village in 1997. Then Hernan who is her father had gone out the village and gone to the US by illegal. Then he worked so hard for making money to help his family go to the US. Finally time came, her mother received father's money from his friend to pay the coyote, which was same ticket for going to the U.S. They had traveled tho the U.S with a lot of difficult and dangerous thing on the road. They began from their village, Oxaca, Mexico to Naco, which is the border between Mexico and Arizona. Next they traveled through Sanoran desert, which is terrible desert with hot weather and no alive in here.Finally, they came to Louisville, Kentucky. U.S, and she met her dad in over 2 years. In over there, they hug together, and Alvara had seen his father cry first time, but that tears were happy tears. And now, Alvara live with her husband and she gain legal status. She is also a student at a local community for hr major, immigration laws. The author said that Alvara want to help people, who come to immigration if she can, after anything she passed. After I read this story about Alvara, I felt sad for someone, who came to the U.S with illegal. They might not want to go here, but their life is poor and cheap. They want to have a new life and they try to do that although it very dangerous.
