The claim presented by Charles Murray is that America is coming apart on page 347. In essence, he is expressing the upper and lower classes are becoming more separated than ever before. To substantiate his claim he provided evidence from a nationwide statistical database where he split the nation by those with bachelor degrees or better, in which he named the town of Belmont, and those with no degree at all, in which he labelled Fishtown. Then he presented the percentages starting with 1960 to 2010. He then classified by quantity of marriages, single parenthood, industriousness, crime, and religiosity.
