In the article, “Getting Waisted: The Dangers of Corset Training,” by Jamie Harrison, he examines corset training, which is more commonly called “waist training.” This article provides background information for waist training and its popularity. Harrison discusses the waist training’s popularity among celebrities. This popularity is due to the corset like structure that tends to shave inches and pounds off of women. Although corset training may be popular, he disagrees with the effectiveness of corset wear. Harrison discusses the negative effects that waist training has on women’s health. These negative effects can range anywhere from temporary discomfort and fainting, to permanent damage to the organs.
