So we as people always question things. Question why things are the way they are, and why do they happen. Basically the big question of why.

The author, Lee Maracle, believes that understanding how the universe works is important because aside from reading a novel, I can very much say that in society, we always have questions. But we never know the answer until the events have already happened.

In Ravensong, the protagonist, Stacey was a character that always wondered about things. Like how things were occurring and why they had happened.

For example, in the third part of the novel, Stacey always wonders about Carol, or more specifically non-natives, because they’re quite different from one another. I guess more in regards to Stacey being …show more content…
So in the novel, Annie (who is Stacey’s cousin), asked if that living on the reserve was wrong (Maracle, 141). In a part to this, I think that living on the reserve isn’t wrong, but with the theme being about of how the universe works, makes me think about why we have a thought about this. What does it mean to live wrong? Who’s idea is this? Is there a certain way we must follow to live “right”? Personally, I think it all comes to freedom in this situation. It’s our lives and we can do anything we want, but hopefully keeping it legal.

Here’s another big question, what is life after death? Or basically, how does it look like? Throughout the novel, Stacey always has thoughts and wonders about the idea (Maracle, 162), because of many deaths on the reserve. I think that most of us in society also wonder about this idea. Which is probably why it’s considered a big question, and trust me there can be a lot of answers to this question, let alone a big discussion.

Besides Stacey who always wonders about so many different things, there is also her sister, Celia, who wonders about Stacey. Celia wonders about her sister’s thoughts (Maracle, 168), and why she acts the way she does. Although Celia doesn’t understand because she’s much younger than
