In the documentary super-size me Morgan Spurlock states "We live in toxic environment where we are almost guaranteed to get sick." One of possible cause of our sickness is in part due to what we consume on a daily basis. Since American society has become accustomed to a lifestyle that effected was the way we eat. Which eventually led to Americans becoming accustomed to eating unhealthy fast food. Corporations saw this growing culture and took advantage of this in order to make a profit. Eventually they began to disregard the consumer's health in order to keep making their money. Since fast food corporations weren't educating people about their products, Spurlock's documentary decided to do so. His documentary "Super-size me" was made to show …show more content…
From the beginning of the experiment his girlfriend was worried that the experiment would take a toll on him. She knew that nothing positive would result from this so she kept warning him and advised him to quit. Partly, due to the fact that during the experiment Spurlock was experiencing sexual dysfunctions. The way he interacted with his girlfriend was changed because he was easily irritated before and after he ate. The way he interacted with the world also changed. For instance he made sure to not exercise any more than the average sedentary individual. So that limited him to engaging in only light physical activity, walking sporadically throughout the day. Sometime not at all in case of bad weather. Thus, he is consuming over 5,000 calories a day and he is working off very little of it. In the end there was nothing beneficial that came from this experiments. This reiterates what McDonald's said, their food wasn't meant to be nutritional for the consumer. In spite of that, consumption of fast food shouldn't have such negative impact on a person who does consume …show more content…
Nonetheless, parents need to be brave enough to tell kids no. Parents need to claim some responsibility. Taking initiatives to teach their kids about teach children how important it to be health-conscience. In particular parents and schools need to work as a team in order to either ban or integrate healthier options into school cafeterias. By working together they can promote healthy eating behaviors even if fast food companies don’t want to. Instead of cutting out physical education they can reestablish it as a requirement and also teach children how to cook their own food. Thus, showing them that they don’t have to depend on fast food products around them when they can cook for themselves. Leading them to care about what goes into their body and how it affects their well-being. Instead of just telling that fast food is bad for them there are other option that can be taken to inform

Mcdonalds Corporation

...a clown named Ronald McDonald. Despite all the press and content published over the past decade on nutrition, McDonald’s still promotes its greasy burgers and salt laden fries. However, over the past few years, McDonald’s has come under scrutiny for this and as an alternative has started to clean up its greasy act. Today they are promoting the same burgers but have added fried chicken, baked chicken with sauce’s that makes one question if the nutritional content of these foods is even acceptable. McDonald’s does many things correctly, such as their efforts to help children with life illnesses, but still produce food that contributes to obesity and heart disease, to name a few illnesses. Many have all seen the movie, entitled “Super-Size Me”. This individual ate McDonald’s for quite a while and almost died. The movie portrays the actor getting regular checkups but the result of this eating created more issues for the actor even after he got off the fast food wagon. So what does this say to our youth? Statistically, the company practices are questionable. Rather than use fresh ground beef, the organization substitutes fresh meat with cattle from numerous countries, in addition also using their own modified genetically grown potatoes rather than fresh potatoes. From a health perspective this is a concern. Also McDonald’s Corporation continues to grow internationally. The issue we see with this is that they are trying to Americanize other countries with...

...reasoned conclusion. The main cause of the health crisis currently affecting so many individuals is over-consumption of poor quality sustenance. Convenience food and junk food, such as microwave dinners, chocolate bars, McDonald’s and pizza, have become a ubiquitous part of modern life. Eating too much of these high fat meals causes many to gain weight and this has knock-on effects on someone’s general wellness. For example, the movie ‘Super Size Me’ demonstrated that a person who eats this kind of food all the time will not only get fat, but also suffer from such things as raised blood pressure and even fatty liver disease. The most practical solution to this problem is a government sponsored awareness campaign. An effective advertising campaign could warn of the dangers of a poor diet and hopefully raise awareness amongst the public. For example, the U.K. recently lobbied their citizens to eat 5 pieces of fruit and vegetables a day and this resulted in a dramatic decrease in obesity related illnesses such as stroke and heart disease. In summary, the current health crisis has been caused...

Mcdonald's Hot Coffee Case

...million customers per day. It primarily operates in Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Americas. The company is headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois and employs about 400,000 people. McDonald’s has been able to successfully increase revenues and profits in recent years in spite of much negative publicity and an increasingly health conscious public. This case study shows how the company has achieved these goals in a difficult trading environment. Summary  McDonald’s has, to a great extent, defied recent difficult economic conditions and continued to experience strong sales and profit growth in recent years, as it has been able to attract diners with an improved and expanded product range while remaining competitive on price.  McDonald’s has been the target of much criticism in recent years for serving large amounts of foods high in saturated fat, salt, sugar and calories. The 2004 documentary film Super Size Me brought this under the spotlight. The company responded to this criticism by introducing healthier menu choices, adjusting portion sizes and reducing salt and sugar content. It has also expanded its product range in an attempt to attract a new type of customer, most...

Mcdonald’s: Behind the Golden Arches

...McDonald’s: Behind The Golden Arches “Since 1955, we’ve been proud to serve the world some of its favourite food. And along the way, we’ve managed not just to live history, but create it:  from drive-thru restaurants to Chicken McNuggets to college credits from Hamburger U and much more. It’s been quite the journey, and we promise this is just the beginning-we’ve got our hearts set on making more history” (McDonald’s Corporation, 2011). Almost 60 years have passed since Raymond Kroc envisioned a nationwide fast food chain, which needless to say went on to revolutionise the American restaurant industry and become the world’s number #1 fast food restaurant. Today McDonald’s serves 52 million people a day from one of its 31,000 restaurants dotted around the world (Ritabrata Giiosii, R.G. 2009).  The golden arches along with Ronald McDonald and the catch phrase “I’m lovin’ it” have assisted McDonald’s in becoming one of the most globally recognised brands, allowing them to become McDonald’s most valuable intangible assets, but how did they do it? Countless elements threaten McDonald’s reputation; health issues, legal and technological changes, social factors, environmentalists and obviously competitors especially those who offer similar services and products such as KFC. They too have become a national brand recognized all around the world however to understand how McDonalds have achieved such success we must first understand what they do differently and what objectives...

School Consolidation

...Do failing schools benefit from school consolidation? “YES” SIDE (Terrell) With the continuing economic decline and the increasing pressures for schools to show improvement, many districts are seriously considering the controversial issue of school consolidation. One way many districts are trying to avoid huge consolidations is by creating charter schools. Charter schools are viewed as great solutions because they allow districts to continue to receive public funding while not having to uphold the same rules and regulations as regular public schools. Many proponents view charter schools as a solution to the economic crisis facing public education because they recognize that it allows districts to continue to receive federal and state funding while serving fewer students. With many charter schools promising to challenge students more academically, more advanced students tend to leave public schools in favor of this promise. Charters decrease the quality of education for students who stay behind by bleeding off caring parents and motivated students (Clabaugh, 2009). As public schools lose more funding and the better performing students, the struggle to compete academically by purchasing updated computers and equipment, hiring more experienced faculty and staff, and increasing state and national test scores not only continues, but also increases. With charter schools being controlled by fewer rules and regulations than public schools, much room is left for mistakes...

We have been a home based business now for over 3 years and are finally ready to take our business to the road. We have over 100 hundred steady clients and growing quickly. We have researched multiple companies in our area and have decided to go with your company due to the amount of positive reviews you received in the last 2 years. Due to the increase in volume in our business we will need a 600- 800sq foot loft that has the capability to house the equipment needed to run our bakery successfully. We have been saving the last two years for this move and managed to obtain a total of 110,000 dollars to put toward our business. We have also secured a loan through our bank that should cover most of the initial cost to get our business running for our first year as Scottie’s Bake Shop. Fast Food Nation

...history, life has become faster-paced and more women have joined the workforce, all of which have been to the detriment of “traditional” American family meals, but all of which has been to the enormous advantage to the fast food industry. People around the world today may criticize America’s politics, but the fact remains virtually everyone loves American fast food and the industry has become firmly established around the world. This paper provides an overview of the fast food industry from the 1950s to the present, an analysis of what social effects were caused by and reflected in the industry, what marketing and advertising changes have taken place in the industry during this time, followed by a discussion of current and future trends. A summary of the research is provided in the conclusion. Review and Discussion Background and Overview. It would seem that the explosive growth of the fast food industry in the United States was an inevitable event. The powerful combination of automobiles, open roads and an increasingly fast-paced modern society all contributed to the phenomenon, but almost no one could have foreseen just how pervasive and influential the fast food industry would eventually...
